Decided I better make a discussion for the 2023 cadetship competition, seen as its well & truly underway. I myself applied once before. I did the medical assessment in August 2022 but got no further, so I'm back to give it another try.

Feel free to ask me any questions (if ye have any) and I'll do my best to answer.

Has anyone heard anything? They told us 20th of May but haven't gotten anything saying either way if we're going forward or not.

I’ve gotten emails re garda vetting, buts that’s it. Nothing about an interview

Still nothing here man. I think they only finished up fitness tests only within the last few weeks.

Does anyone have any idea when interview dates will be announced. Did my physical at the start of April and still no word other than Garda vetting

Not sure how many make it to interview stage to be honest… maybe half the people who did stage two would be my guess.

No, still waiting on an exact interview date.

I noticed that too. There’s no other chat as far as I’m aware. I think Boards.ie is just less popular with the younger generation

Can i ask a generic question here? (New to this so apologies if this is wrong place to post). I currently have a diagnosis of chronic kidney disease. I am fairly fit, good diet etc, but wondering am I wasting my time trying to apply for the defence forces because of this diagnosis?

Tbh I wouldn’t know for sure but this is what is on the Defence forces website

Medical Examination

Applicants must be in good mental and bodily health, and free from any physical defect, abnormality, physiological condition or past history of serious illness likely to interfere with the efficient performance of their duties.

They might be out some day next week.

Offers come first, rejections weeks later.

Start date won’t be until October at the earliest.
