    are all over social media complaining about regulations limiting competition among under 12s. These people are mad. They think 11 year olds not being exposed to more structured competition and having equal playing time is a bad thing. They don't care what psychologists say. They're mad.

    There was a coach on the radio saying they don't care whether competition is a part of it or not.

    The only important thing is retention, and it remains to be seen whether this new direction helps retention.

    It's actually not a new direction, it's been the case for ten years or so, but some jackasses have been trying to subvert it.

    Not surprising that Barcelona youths were playing and training this way 15 years ago . Nothing wrong with competitive play as most kids do it naturally but no real need for score keeping or advancing to finals, just 5 aside with loads of exposure to kicking, passing , defending, running , tackling

    to be fair the gaa have been doing this with the last 10 or 12 years maybe more , the gaa go games are usually an early sign of future inter county players , the never keep the score yet the young lads and girls get to play at half time in front of a big crowd , great idea in fairness

    The mentors and in some cases the parents who are also mentors with kids of their own playing are the cause of a lot of this type of ‘Mis- management, winning at all costs etc etc…..!
