I have a big long article from Sporting Life, but here is the summary.

Championship betting tips: Outright preview and best bets for 22-23 season by Jake Osgathorpe.

After returning +6.5pts profit in last season's Championship outright preview, Jake Osgathorpe returns to select his best bets from the second tier this season.

    Football betting tips: Championship outright

5pts Sheffield United to finish in the top six at 6/5 (bet365, Betway)

5pts Middlesbrough to finish in the top six at 6/5 (Boylesports, Betway)

4pts Norwich to be promoted at 7/4 (General)

4pts Luton to finish in the top half at 5/4 (Unibet)

1pt Huddersfield to be relegated at 9/1 (Boylesports)

Huddersfield to be relegated looks a good one 2 best players off to Forest manager who turned them around also gone.

Paddy's odds seem shite for anything outside of the English leagues? IE - only offering outright markets on anything outside of this , disappointing. Anyways hopefully they will sort out this week before it all kicks off l

Got the Racing Post yesterday evening.

Thought with Galway on it would be gone, but no, was 2 copies left.

Will share the big tips later, but basically its between City and Liverpool for the title. Spurs and Chelsea next two, with Arsenal and United battling for 5th and 6th! Most expect the three promoted to go back down, but Brentford, Leeds and Southampton tipped as well.

Frank Lampard is tipped for first to go although Hassenhuttl and Marsch are in the frame too.

Mo for top scorer or Harry Kane, and the World Cup will mess up everything!

I will be able to lose my money in so many frustrating ways !!!

@rekluse your first bet looks like it fits all RP parameters !!!

I've kept my season long bet to 5 selections this year to try land a nice one,

Arsenal top 4 - 7/4 think this is a good price

    Middlesboro Top 6 - 11/10 should be a banker

Cheltenham to be relegated - 13/8 second season syndrome...

Mansfield Top 7 8/11 should be up there in the mix

Hearts - Top 6 1/3 should be pushing for third

    Bet 365 - 300 to return €10,473.75

    fingers crossed,

    good luck to all!

And the big acca @ 8.89/1:

I reckon that Watford top south east club @ nearly evens is a gift for any acca (or an outright bet for someone with more balls than me), can't see any of their 'rivals' finishing higher than mid table...

Bet #1 gone 1+ goals in every EPL fixture featuring Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd 250/1 Three 0-0's so far, EVE-LIV ruins bet

Bet #2 still standing 1+ goals in every EPL fixture featuring Man Utd, Chelsea, Leicester, West Ham 1000/1

Bet #3 will check tonight 5+ corners in every EPL games 200/1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,153 ✭✭✭jacool

Bet #3 gone Leicester vs Man Utd 4 corners

  • Registered Users Posts: 925 ✭✭✭rekluse

Spurs form is a worry, atletico / dortmund a bit dodgy also but Bet 1 standing ok at the halfway stage. Solihull Moors kinda messing up Bet 2, but still have a squeak with that one. Bet 3/4 still alive although not too confident there. Anyone got anything decent going?

You are getting a good sweat out of this one famagusta. Cheltenham just above the relegation places and the rest looking solid. What's the cash out now?

  • Registered Users Posts: 925 ✭✭✭rekluse

Good wins yesterday for Norwich and Northampton , but spurs being spurs. This is a roughly 3/1 shot now so hopefully will get a good sweat until the end of the season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,153 ✭✭✭jacool

Spurs are good enough for top 6.

I'll look at your other picks later and see where the risk lies! Good to have a bet still live in March.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,022 ✭✭✭✭Loafing Oaf

Fotgot to add did a few Chyampions League outrights:

    Top scorer: Haaland, Nkunku

Furthest progressing English team: Spurs, Chelsea

Double on Liverpool to win/Man United to finish prem top 4

    And two group stage accas:

To qualify: Atletico Madrid AC Milan / to win: Liverpool Bayern Munich Tottenham Man City PSG

To win: Chelsea / to qualify: Porto Barcelona Leipzig Juve Napoli Dortmund

And forgot to post this at the time...

So I cashed out the Haaland bet to provide some capital and did a few covers

    Premier League 1-2-3: Arsenal/City/United

    Blackburn to win playoffs

Double on Luton to win playoffs/City to reach CL final

Double on Milwall to win playoffs/Real to beat Chelsea

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,153 ✭✭✭jacool

@Loafing Oaf I do NOT want to see this bet come in, BUT . . . . .

Man City to win the PL, Haaland top PL goalscorer and De Bruyne most PL assists @ 25/1

Haaland leads by 9, de Bruyne by 5. The league is 50:50

I don't want City to win, but hat's off for that treble pick. Stick a bet on Arsenal to cover your stake and its a free hit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,022 ✭✭✭✭Loafing Oaf

A similar bet in the World Cup came agonisingly short - Argentina to lift tropy and Messi to win Golden Boot & Ball - so I won't be counting chickens. For cover I'm already on

    Premier League 1-2-3: Arsenal/City/United

and added Arsenal/City/Newcastle/United 1-2-3-4 today so would take a freak set of results to draw a blank.

    Celtic/Kyogo Furuhashi @ 9/2

also looking good so should be coming out better than even overall...

  • Registered Users Posts: 925 ✭✭✭rekluse

Got a good run out of bet one up until about end of March but Spurs Norwich and Inter have all fallen off a cliff. Juve getting their 15 point deduction reversed didn't help either. Anyways, the Haaland /city special will cover stakes with a little change left over. Onto next season , hope some of yee have something decent still going.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 605 ✭✭✭famagusta

hi rekluse, sorry i dont be on here much,

cash out was over 2k at one stage, jesus it was close. Mansfield were out of top 7 by goal difference of one goal!!

    Cheltenham let it down too.

No worries, i'll go again next year, great run for my money anyway!!

    So to round things up

Middlesbrough and Sheffield Utd to finish in top 6 & Luton and Swansea to finish in top half @ 7/1

    Celtic/Kyogo Furuhashi @ 9/2

    Scottish Premiership Winner/Top Goalscorer 22/23

Man City to win the PL, Haaland top PL goalscorer and De Bruyne most PL assists @ 25/1

Fotgot to add did a few Chyampions League outrights:

    Top scorer: Haaland

Double on Luton to win playoffs/City to reach CL final

    So that's about €900 overall.

Couldn't be bothered totting up profits and losses but I'd say I'm up a couple of hundred. More importantly have a nice seed of about €650 for the new season. Will be able to a bit of random single-game betting that I wasn't this year.

When I get time this week, I am going to re-visit the RP pull-out to see how badly wrong (or right) they got things.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,022 ✭✭✭✭Loafing Oaf

Top scorers have been my most reliable earner for the last while. And sticking to favourites/short odds bets seems to work out best. Who knew?
