Is there any alternative information app that works with the eddi/harvi? The myenergi app is very slow, has a limited display output and doesnt allow you use chose set windows of days to display generation etc. Looking at some of the displays being shown on here they give a much better display. Any recommendations?

With your Zappi if only charging from Solar this time year, why not reduce its max from 7kW to something closer to max you'd get from your panels !

You could read from the API into Node-Red or Home Assistant.

There's an Automation thread and there might be one for Home Assistant

do you mean the zappi restarted and went to 'fast' mode charging immediately? i had that happen me so used some day units but there's a default start up mode you can set so i now have it set to eco plus on startup so it doesn't start immediately at full power if there is a power cut or the charger is cycled on/off.. might depend on the zappi version.. mines fairly new.

    Consumed: 767.37kWh

    Exported: 193.36kWh

    Export: €33

    Bill for May (Import+Standing charges-Export): €19.30

    Estimated bill without solar: €224.19

    Savings for May: €204.89

have you figured out ballpark annual savings? the savings probably drop in the winter months - its hard to figure out break even/pay back periods with all the variables!

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,379 ✭✭✭✭the_amazing_raisin

I estimated €2,292 annual savings giving just over 6 years payback (cost was around €15k)

That's horrendously optimistic however, so I doubt I'll achieve that. For example I was expecting to spend €10 on electricity in May and ended up spending €27

I've only 1 month of proper data so far so I'll have to wait a while to see how it goes

However I would be expecting the savings to be significant in winter still because I'll be charging the battery at night rate to avoid any expensive day rate electricity

Is that when you plug in the Zappi and it auto kicks in the full charge speed for X seconds, before then switching to ECO++ (or whatever you have set)? We're plugging ours in each time we get back to the house - that's a few times a day. I never counted it across the month.

3.1 kWp in Dublin (1.7 south, 1.4 west). 5 kWh battery.

431 kWh generation with 83% self use.

? kWh into battery, ? kWh out of battery

40 kWh imported, 10 of that EV charging

    75 kWh exported.

    No Eddi or immersion.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,454 ✭✭✭DC999

Produced 60% more than house and EV needed this month, so got exported and paid for it – happy days. 585kWh generated this month, most in 10 months since live. Or 6% higher than the blue-sky freak August we had last year

    Setup: 4.9kWp E (mostly) and small W and S. Dublin 12.

    South Roscommon, 8.16Kwp, facing 210° at 35°, 9.6kWh battery

Total generation 1085.4kWh (prediction at 890.4kWh, last year 984kWh)

Consumed 793kWh (75% self use) was away for a few of the good days so exported more than normal.

    Energy from Grid 1kWh

    Energy to Grid 271kWh

    To the Eddi 165kWh

To the Zappi 220.3Wh (all from solar)

    To the Battery 154.15kWh

    From the Battery 142.27kWh

    Best day 31st with 54.7kWh

    Worst day 21st with 15.2kWh

Energy exported would have generated €48.78 at Energia FIT rate if on a smart meter, we are D/N.

Only second time breaching the 1MWh with last August being the other one and this month being a record by 2kWh

    603kWh generation for May

    Best day on May 28th - 30.7kWh

    Worst day on May 20th - 7.9kWh

System specs - 4.5kWp SW facing with 5kWh battery, Eddi diverter, and Zappi EV charger

155kWh Export - this has reduced but work to enable full tank heating with Eddi only took place mid-month. Subsequently it went a bit off with introduction of additional floor insulation that messed up the RF comms between Eddi & Zappi. Work in progress...

170kWh Import (mostly car overnight 86% at 2-6am cheap rate)

Net cost (excl. standing charge) 0.70CR

EDIT: 155kWh to Eddi in May compared to 80kWh in April. This is as a result of the addition of a pump mid-month. This is running and mixing the tank as it's heating. The daily divert to Eddi has approximately tripled vs prior months. This will be seen to greater effect in worse months where I expect export to be tiny.

    Exported 645.6kWh

Decent stats. Hope you are on a smart meter with that amount of export.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,506 ✭✭✭Ginger83

I don't have a smart meter as I thought the general advice was not to get one.

    I have a day / night meter.

    Deemed export for a 6KW inverter is currently (6 X 0.097 x 0.35 x 8760 = 1784 KwH per year.) 148KwH per month or around 5KwH per day.

Giving an average FIT of 20c (148 X .20) is around €30 on deemed versus for the last month you exported (645KwH X .20) which would be €129.

    Hi folks

We are nine months on the Solar trail now. Figures are in for the month of May from a 4Kw system on an even East : West split. Based in South Dublin. No battery. 5kW inverter:

    • Total generated: 507kWh
    • Highest day:  30th 25.24 kWh
    • Lowest day: 14th  8.21 kWh

That’s up considerably from April which saw 340kWh generated. The movement through the seasons is really evident from the figures now. It’s great to see the numbers continuing to climb so significantly and enter the peak generation period.

The sales blurb last year estimated a potential annual generation of between 3,600 - 3,900 kWh in a twelve month period. The current generation figure is 2,300 for the period August 2022 to-date. I plan to do a one year write up in August to summarise my experience. Will have the full year’s data from my App around 7th August.

    Cheers

    g

I am planning to order one or two batteries very soon but should I be considering a smart meter?

I was just running the figures for you and don't want to derail this thread further. I think asking on the solar PV battery thread below and folks much wiser than me will give you the best opinions.
