Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How far is BTP from Ballinlough Castle, it would be great to do a tunnel from BTP to B&S. 😆

Edit: Actually that would be a hell of a walk at 127 Kilometres.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Fantastic memories of Leftfield in the pouring rain at one of the first Forbidden Fruits (2011 maybe - can't be arsed Googling...). I was less into the Body and Soul gig but having your 5 year old along for the ride does make for a different experience :)

The new album is well well worth a listen for anyone into electronic music and a must if you're a fan - their best work since the 1990s I'd say.

Major nostalgia value for me as along with The KLF, Prodigy, Chemical Brothers and Daft Punk they were a big part of turning me on to electronic music in a serious way. Back then I was still mainly an indie kid - nowadays it's mostly electronic music I'm listening to.

The likes of Leftfield, Jon Hopkins, DJ Seinfeld, Joy O and more all on the one bill have me a little overexcited....

Leftfield been doing live shows in the UK over the last 10 days with setlists blending the new album with some 90's classics, what looks like an impressive enough light show and positive reviews online.

'Release The Pressure' live - I can't wait!!!

Some non-headline acts I'd recommend are...

    * For Those I Love (Irish rap - almost more like spoken word and not the most uplifting of themes. Afaik he doesn't do many live gigs so I'm crossing all fingers & toes that he's not clashing with Jon Hopkins or Soichi Terada)

    Tune: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7AM80tpfBQ

    * Soichi Terada - Japanese DJ / Nintendo game soundtrack guy - even older than I am

    Tune(s): https://www.mixcloud.com/musiclover1980/soichi-terada-essential-mix-2022-03-05/

    * Florist - no idea who they are but they sound only gorgeous

    Tune: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgNIqP0kLzQ

    * Dope Lemon - Very laid back indie rock from Australia

    Tune: https://youtu.be/MetXyUFY3Ts

    * Marie Davidson - This one could be a bit unpredictable... but the below links show major potential...

TUNE!!!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nV51kGn1WUQ (dodgy 80s aerobics music video alert)

    DJ mix of goodness: https://www.mixcloud.com/residentadvisor/ra857-marie-davidson/

    * Mano Le Tough - local Greystones boy so have to give him a mention. Keep missing him when he plays in Ireland so please let him not be on at the same time as Leftfield...

I haven't been to a music festival in a loooong time, but what's the situation with the number of stages? I'd be raging if two of my favourite artists are playing at the same time!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,267 ✭✭✭Fanirish

4 stages/tents, though only really 3 are decent sized

  • Registered Users Posts: 295 ✭✭Jambonjunior

Just wondering if there's a spotify playlist made for this?

  • Registered Users Posts: 585 ✭✭✭Blackie_IRL

So when does everyone think the official sitemap and timetable will be released?

Do we know what the story is with what beer is being sold at the festival?

I know Whiplash were involved in 2022 - any announcements / inside knowledge on plans for 2023?

    hi all

im interested in the sunday to check the place out, i see last year that it wrapped up at midnight according to the timetable, is that the case or do they push it out a bit? cheers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,267 ✭✭✭Fanirish

Pretty sure that’s the time limit in the licence from Wicklow county council.

I know there was local complaints about late night noise last year so probably why midnight on a Sunday due to it not being a bank holiday

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,360 ✭✭✭fourmations

Cheers, that's a bit of a bummer, is there a bit of craic in the campsites, I see you can camp Sunday night on the Sunday ticket, pretty short day otherwise,

Thanks. That's interesting, I don't think I've come across that before. Usually a day ticket is just a day ticket? Maybe I'm wrong...

I wonder how they'll work it re people bringing their own alcohol for one night.

The thoughts of setting up camp at a festival on the Sunday morning has actually just given me the shivers!!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 218 ✭✭Van Doozy

Yea, the absolute stress of coming late into a festival into a jammers campsite hawking all your kit and trying to find a patch of grass for your tent!

But the relief of cracking open that first can when its all set up!

Did it at a small festival up the country last June, first event since COVID so was quite eager to get somewhere. However it was only a one day event 🤣

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 118 ✭✭jellybeano

Also you’d be arriving fresh as a daisy and raring to go 💥🍻😎 pity the Sunday finishes at midnight for day trippers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 580 ✭✭✭whelzer

We did the sunday only last year (full thing this year). Probably got tent up about 1pm, it was fine, plenty of space. Once we got over the we're so fresh and everyone else is fked phase it was grand...probably 3 or 4 cans!

  • Registered Users Posts: 377 ✭✭Whipping Boy

I see Jape has just confirmed on his Instagram that it's a full band show and they're on the main stage Sunday. Really looking forward to that

Have been thinking about my fantasy schedule just so I can be very clear about how disappointed I am when the actual schedule comes out.

I've picked six acts each day that I want to avoid clashing, and the order I want to see them in

Friday: Dope Lemon -> For Those I Love -> Soichi Terada -> Jon Hopkins -> Joy O - DJ Deece

Saturday: Florist -> Marie Davidson -> Leftfied -> Hot Chip -> Mano Le Tough -> Mother

Sunday: Irvine Welsh -> Sprints -> Sofia Kourtesis -> Morcheeba -> DJ Seinfeld -> Grace Jones

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 580 ✭✭✭whelzer

If i catch a millisecond of For Those I Love I'll be disappointed. Does absolutely nothin for me. I approve of all others and ordering! 😀

    Rough plan...

Friday: For Those I Love - Dope Lemon - Maribou State - Flight Facilities - Jon Hopkins

Saturday: David Kitt - Grandbrothers - Daithi - Le Boom - Christian Loffler - Tinlicker - Leftfield - Hot Chip (This day will be clashes galore!)

Sunday: Fleetmac Wood - Sprints - Los Bitchos - Jape - Kishi Bashi - DJ Seinfeld - Max Cooper - Grace Jones

There's plenty outside of those that I'd be very happy to see too in fairness

Does anyone have a text based list of the lineup rather than just an image. I want to start building a wish list and cant wait for clashfinder!

    Thanks

  • Registered Users Posts: 956 ✭✭✭grudgehugger

I’ve started a Clashfinder even if times not out yet - https://clashfinder.com/m/btp2023

Interesting concept, but I don't know if I'd be willing to chance buying 24 cans of a beer I've never had before. Could end up with a mother of all hangovers the following day!

  • Registered Users Posts: 233 ✭✭Phishwax

Just try them in your local offy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,894 ✭✭✭✭phantom_lord

Would anyone be interested in mixing a crate of White Hag?

I like their beer but 24x of one might be a bit much.

  • Registered Users Posts: 66 ✭✭pedrozeno

Good idea, although I'll be bringing down a slab of theirs I've already bought. Love their stuff.

  • Registered Users Posts: 218 ✭✭Van Doozy

@pedrozeno I'll cool 'em for ya!

    Stage breakdown & running orders

  • Registered Users Posts: 112 ✭✭phizzledizzle

doesn't look like it's free flow this year:

Can I bring my own alcohol?

Yes, you can. Max allocation for drinks is 24 cans OR 1 bottle of spirits OR 3 bottles of wine per person. A common sense approach will be taken by security.

Alcohol can be brought onto the site at the time of first entry only. There is no re-entry with alcohol once wristbanded. Please drink responsibly.

No glass containers are permitted on site whatsoever. Please ensure you have decanted your alcohol into a reusable bottle prior to arriving at the festival. Open drinks only upon entry to the Main Arena.

I have no idea, I just assumed it was based on last year but never checked up until now

  • Registered Users Posts: 377 ✭✭Whipping Boy

That would be a huge faux pas by the organisers to be honest

  • Registered Users Posts: 295 ✭✭Jambonjunior

Ah no. Is that fully confirmed?

Don't think it makes sense to buy White Hag is we can't bring it in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,267 ✭✭✭Fanirish

Read that as people bring case into main arena not allowed but common sense of bringing cans otherwise

Yeh they kept that quiet. Not all that surprised because I think I went to the bar twice last year. Questionable how good they'll be at enforcement based on some of the short staffing last year.

  • Registered Users Posts: 112 ✭✭phizzledizzle

I don't think I'd have bought a ticket if I realised this in advance, not when BAS and ATN offer free flow.

  • Registered Users Posts: 218 ✭✭Van Doozy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 580 ✭✭✭whelzer

Ive emailed them. Its such a pain in the hole, especially if its like EP with rude gobshites doing the searching! Not enough to stop me going this year but i wouldnt go again next year if no free flow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,936 ✭✭✭Stillill42

    Who does the bars, lads?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,936 ✭✭✭Stillill42

The only reason surely would be if they were getting a wedge of cash from the brewers à la EP etc.

Whiplash did bars last year and beyond the pale owners co own a bar with whiplash so all the bar money goes to between them. No wedges of cash from brewers.

white hag involved this year but not sure if they are only doing cans on-site whilst whiplash do the beer on draft
