I'm new to iPhone which model to get?

Getting the gf a new iPhone, but I've no idea what model to get. Budget would be max of €1,300 say?

I assume it's better to get the 14, but which version?

Requirements are:

Must take a SIM card (perhaps it's only the US versions that use eSim only?)
Selfies are a big thing, so camera is important
Decent storage, prob 256GB at least?

Do the new ones need a case or are they pretty resistant to being dropped?

Are they water resistant too?

iPhone 14 Yellow (newest colour), 256GB, a screen protector and a case. Try Apple Silicon Purple case to go with the yellow phone.

Every phone needs a case and a screen protector .I think every iPhone released since 2020 has a very high quality camera .I only buy black case.s . Why advertise you have a iPhone .get a standard black case .

Personally hate screen protectors.. They look bad and I don't see the point in having a beautiful screen and then putting cheap plastic on it.

I'd get a case with a lip around it and that protects the screen if dropped.

Have the iphone 13 and the screens are really strong.

I recall I received a few dodgy refurb iPads in the past (mainly lots of dead pixels), is quality control generally good if I went for the iPhone 13 Pro refurb?

I would have agreed before but the new protectors are pretty good, especially as there aren’t cut outs for things like the home button. I wouldnt say screens have gotten better but depends on what you’ll notice. I’m picky and want to avoid scratches whereas other people won’t mind them as long as the screen doesn’t crack.

I have a 13 Pro and one other piece to consider is the weight. The non Pros are much lighter due to them being made from aluminium instead of stainless steel. My other half thinks the Pro is too heavy to use comfortably and too heavy in a pocket for her.

A refurb from Apple will be the equivalent of a brand new phone and will have a full warranty.

A refurb from anywhere else is a lottery.

I thought about it and I just had a really bad experience with refurbs for my iPad (3 replacements till we got one with no dead pixels), so I'll probably opt for the iPhone 14 Pro, and stretch the budget a little.

Yes you might have to wait a while, but it’ll likely be worth the wait. Said to be coming with a battery capacity increase too.
