Hello there , I’ve two acres with the house and keep a handful of sheep so I suppose I’m technically a farmer or at least have a holding , I’ve a hay shed out the back that came with the property and I was thinking of putting solar panels on it as I think the panels look unsightly on houses , I understand there is a 60% grant available for farmers, my question is this , the literature I’ve read suggests that only one provider ( solarco in Tipperary) are contracted with the department of agriculture for installing the solar panels?

does anyone know if this is correct?

See the terms on one of the forms says you cannot put in a unit that is over sized (based on previous 12 months consumption)

So if you get a price for a 10000kW system and you only used 4000kW in the last 12 months, then you have to pay for the infrastructure required for the remaining 6000kW at your own cost.

Could you just adjust your usage to say it's 10000kW or will they ask for proof of consumption here...?

Will need to look into that, to my earlier question, anyone know if you must exclusively deal with that particular company?

Unlikely there's just 1 company in ireland for this. I'm dealing with JFW renewables in Galway and they are good to use for tams...
