Something has to change at coaching and captaincy level. We have the makings of a good odi side but silly mistakes and poor decision making costs us.

No sugarcoating it, those two matches and this tournament are a disaster

Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory utterly pathetic. At one point Scotland had a win ratio of 0.9%

Oops.. should have lost easily, could have won easily.. lost.

That was muck, the last 5 overs were an embarrassment

Was a combination of poor bowling, and panic, wasted a good opportunity and a great innings from Campher

Ireland are so inconsistent, capable of really strong performances and then produce really poor stuff. They are really up against it now, two games left in this phase, probably need to win both and one of them against Sri Lanka, which is a tall order.

No real surprise to be honest. Realistically Ireland are no better than associate level, Scotland and Holland are arguably better teams. Ireland's test status is based on past teams achievements, not this teams.

This team simply haven't the winning mentality. Bad and all as CI are, they can't go out and finish games off for them. How many times in the last 2 years have Ireland thrown away sure wins? How many tight games have they lost? Have they won a tight game lately? They just bottle big chances, good teams don't do that.

Josh Little for all his promises is still to do it for Ireland. That over today was as bad an over as you'll ever see at a time like that. No composure, no cricketing brain, it was as bad an over ever bowled by an Irish man. The Captain is no better, in fact he's completely out of his depth. How many times now has he stood there looking meek, clueless and completely lacking inspiration as a couple of sloggers tee off. He never has an clever answer. The same bowlers bowl at the same times innings after inning. Even his post match interview was embarrassing. '

Can't fault the bowlers, can't be critical of the bowlers, we face an uphill battle but I back our guys to be up to the mark'

Theses bowlers have now twice failed to defend a 280+ score and you can't be critical. You back guys that can't see out a game after having a team at 152/7 needed 130 more. Is he for real? No anger, no recrimination, do they even get upset when they lose like this.

But needless to say nothing will change. Josh Little will play again, Balbirnie will bat at 3 again, Adair will bowl overs 46,48 and 50. Sri Lanka will wallop them and Balbo will come out and say how great they were and they'll work on a few things and try and learn. Come Sept 9 of that team will start against England with him captaining as if nothing happened in Zimbabwe.

At least the suits for to mingle in Lord's.....

    the usual carry on….

    Not enough runs scored

too many cheap wickets given up

We allowed a bang average cricketer averaging 28.3 in ODIs with no real serious marquee scores to his name either in the 63 ODIs he’s played for Scotland, to score a rapid fire 91 from just 61 deliveries ! strike rate of 149.18…

like Fazalhaq Farooqi playing like Brian Lara…. What’s that all about ffs ?

Zimbabwe on the cusp of beating west indies

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,833 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

Battered them, west indies are shocking, all bits and pieces T20 cricketers, capable of losing to anyone, hit and miss slog XI.

Ireland win the toss (at last) and will bowl. Barry McCarthy in for Ben white

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,570 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Little goes for 13 in first over incl 8 wides

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,570 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

31/0 after 5. 27 of them in littles two overs

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,570 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Two wickets in consecutive balls for McCarthy but hat trick ball goes for 4

He's having a nightmare tournament. If franchise teams are following this he'll have cost himself a lot of money

    Great last over from Adair.

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,570 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Great bowling at the death all round really. Try and make sure no cheap wickets now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,570 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

4 down now, Balbirnie gone and Tucker for 0. Shocking stuff as usual

  • Registered Users Posts: 729 ✭✭✭wicorthered

I'm start to get very hopeful that this tournament might see the end of Balbirnie and Malan. This is the lowest point in Irish cricket history, how can the captain and coach survive this? If Balbirnie doesn't resign he has no shame and is only interested in himself.

Fair enough we bowled SL out but conceded 325 runs in the process.

Now their bowlers are all over us.

Irish boundaries are few and far between , 4 wickets lost in the first 12 overs…. Dot balls dominate all over the scoreboard…. No chance from here on in. 7.11 is required but with so few wickets and brainless batting so far I can’t see it.

Tector gone now. Might have gotten unlucky with that , certainly pitched in line but the replay suggested it might well have been turning past leg and probably bounced high one over the stump.

    86/5.

every wicket practically given away barring the unfortunate last one which was a poor shot and poor umpiring . Some very poor shots across all dismissals…

Campher looked good but then also goes to a poor effort. 116/6
