Family get together celebrating an event in a pleasant country pub outside Dublin..

its been a while since everyone was together and everyone in great form..

As pleasant as the surroundings were and the company too, we had a private room…the TA was the quality of food for such a salubriously comfortable and aesthetically nice establishment was poor, rank actually …. The final food bill came to 750 euros apparently …. Which considering it was mostly just finger food / platters, was not acceptable. most of it seemed to have been prepared in a crematorium… presentation was nil, various dishes just dumped in huge mixed piles on platters but on top of each other… no segregation if you wanted a cocktail sausage ( nice actually ) or leatheresque mini burger ( not nice actually) you had to go rummaging under a pile of dried up McDonald’s style crappy fries or burned calamari with barely there batter…

had a small plate and called it quits, and was never as delighted to see the chipper still open on my way home…. 😋 But TA’d for my cousin who spent a lot of money. My guess is they didn’t have enough chefs with Sunday a la carte and carvery on downstairs because ain’t no way a skilled food preparation expert ie. a chef(s) could have ok’d that disaster.

It might well be true, but it seems absurd - a tray would do the trick.

The anti-HMV comments (non-voucher related) that started appearing last week when the Henry Street shop re-opened.

All under the guise of concern for the independent record shops and making digs against "major chainstores".

More re-inventing the past from the Born Again Vinyl Junkies who rarely set foot in the likes of Freebird and Spindizzy back in the dark days.

Companies that require references at the offer stage then having a "no references given" policy when you move on.

Lad that drinks in my local if you meet him out and about no drink he will barely acknowledge you, a couple of pints on him in the pub he’s calling you over and absolutely waffling the ears off you as you are up getting a pint near where he sits at the bar. No problem with that he’s amiable enough if slightly odd..

bumped into him in the park earlier.. Me : ahhh hello Ken… Him : hello… *walks on*

if I see him tomorrow night in the pub him : “ hi Strumms, did you see the match some goal by xyx, jaysus this dose on tonight there won’t be a late pint…” and generally just ‘normal’ and amiable chat and interactions…. But take him out of that setting… and completely different version…. Don’t like it when people become ‘version people’ and you get different versions of them depending on the setting you encounter them.

That’s true but the difference in one to the other versions is just pure odd and unnatural…

tonights TA… the way banks have become absolute rip off with the extent to which they charge you for everything…

ATM charges, service charges, standing order charges, lodgement charges, general transaction charges, maintenance charges ? I’m just waiting to get charged in on the door, a fücking entry fee…..

A "communications" company that doesn't have speech to txt software as part of their customer service and sends a visually impaired dyslexic oap a link to nominate a person to speak for them in their dealings!

Its like they want ppl to sue them for something.

I think it's cheaper for them not to provide any service whose cost is greater than the cost of litigation. Think it's best to call stuff out like this on the companies' twitter.

I tried to Revolut someone, but I don't know if I did it correctly . Still says 'pending ' . Also Shylock lenders that advertise pay day loans. At 99.9% , fcuking bastards

I went to pay a gas bill online last night and I had to enter my country. My COUNTRY! There might be a one in a million exception where someone needs to change that, but ffs, the least you could do is default it to "Ireland". But no - I had to scroll all the way down. Couldn't even type "i" to bring me there faster. Some lazy hack probably got paid a fortune for that website too.

The fckuing stress of trying to find a restaurant in the midlands that's open on a Tuesday and that will cater for my extremely picky relatives for a dinner.

Was in the O2 Arena in London over the weekend. You think Ireland is expensive and then getting served this piss in a cardboard cup.

    Dreadful stuff

Bonus rant for today - buffet breakfast. Sodding hate buffet breakfasts. Stayed in a hotel in Dublin a couple of weeks ago; paid a fortune for it and it didn't even include breakfast. Added breakfast ("on sale") when booking for €18 and it turns out to be a buffet. If I'm paying for breakfast in a hotel, I want it fresh and cooked to order - not to line up with all the other inmates for my turn at the troth. I went early when it was quiet, and a lot of the food seemed like it'd been kept warm for too long even at that stage. The quality in general, from the sausages to the bread to the butter, was good, but not great, and most of the food seemed over done. Should have skipped it and found a good cafe.....

So, my Mum encouraged me to apply for the Paris job on the same day their HR team got back to me on my question about the salary:

Salary will depend on professional profile and experience.

Marvellous. For some reason, my email avatar is a photo of a group of sheep I took when I was quite young.

Also, a chap on the tube had a tablet with a Harry Potter film and a large phone with a video game on it running simultaneously. Sigh.

We sat again for an hour and a half discussing maps and figures and always getting back to that most damnable creation of the perverted ingenuity of man - the County of Tyrone.

Hmmm. What are they hiding? HR Chancers! They could at least give you a starting salary... or are they hoping they'll get away with minimum wage for a specialised job? Chancers!!

No idea. Their website is a bit bare bones so composing a covering letter is going to be fun. Another TA.

Also, for some reason Twitter has decided that I must absolutely be kept wholly in the loop with regards to loyalists, unionists and the orange order, no matter how banal.

440ml can of Budweiser for 7.75! I wouldn't even buy that if it was on a discount!! Those prices are a joke.

I have a developed a cold sore on the outside of my lip, gradually getting better since the weekend. However, it 'cracks' everytime I eat or drink or even stretch it for a smile, meaning that every food I have eaten has had droplets of blood mixed in.

I've a sore at the corner of my mouth that's like this. Vaseline will help stop it from cracking.

Anyway I'm out of contract with my mobile provider's bill pay plan. I asked an online agent to unlock my phone so I could go for a pay as you go plan instead. The agent just kept sending me details of phones I could get for free if I stayed on the billpay plan, and told me about all the offers I would be "missing out on" if I switched from billpay. Yes I'm perfectly aware of all the bells and whistles included with my billpay plan but I don't care, would you please just do as I asked and UNLOCK MY DAMN PHONE?????

This is my favourite busker of all times. He used to be at the Galway Arts Festival every year, not sure if he still is.
