Boiler not working

Hi. I got a new Warmflow outdoor oil boiler installed the year before last. Dutifully had it serviced last year. I got drenched the other evening & felt chilly, so put the heating on. Nothing happened. Not a gug out of the boiler. The oil tank is 3/4’s full. I phoned the crowd who installed it & number 1, they can’t get anyone out to me till next Monday & number 2, they’re charging me €135 call out charge & an hourly rate thereafter. I can’t help feeling - hoping, actually, that this is a really minor issue, and I’m deeply resentful about forking out €135. Could I have inadvertantly flicked a switch, disabling the boiler? Any advice gratefully appreciated. Thank you. B

Do you know if it fired up when you turned it on?

Yes. It fires up, but no steam comes out from the boiler. Usually, steam billows out. The company who installed it & who I called to log a callout, phoned me today, to confirm that an engineer would come out to me on Monday. They were looking for my bank card details to take payment of the initial callout charge of €135.25 TODAY. Three days before the the plumber arrived. Was I being unreasonable in telling them to PFO & that I will pay them when my heating is fixed? I still believe that this is a really trivial fault & could be sorted in minutes.

Thank you Cycloncity. That was really helpful. At least when Dick Turpin arrives on Monday, I won’tappear to be as clueless as I really am. Much appreciated. Thank you

How long does it stay running for? With the little bit of information given, I'd check for a stuck circulation pump.
