I think RTE will be delighted that BBC will be taking the spotlight off them.

Why would something that happened in another country take the spotlight off RTE?

If thats what they are hoping for they will be very disappointed.

The number of legacy media outlets that are in the news for all the wrong reasons is a sight to behold!! It's happening everywhere.

There is an old adage in media circles, never become the news. They wonder why trust in media is plummeting!

Excuse me - and for the record I'm not exactly happy to be devils advocate on this particular subject - but why would page 3 girls 'now probably be considered child abuse imagery'?

They were publishing photos of, in some cases, 16 year old girls with their tits out as recently as the mid 1980s

Naked pictures of people under the age off 18 are considered illegal in Engerland even though age of consent there is 16 I believe before this law came into place in 2003 I think some page 3 girls were of legal age but below 18 years old

I wonder is there a chance the presenter was catfished online where they sent compromising pictures of themselves and were then blackmailed in to paying that £35k.

I read the victims mother had gone to the Police and then the BBC and nothing happened hence why she went to The Sun.

Yeah and The Sun publishing this BBC Story which they had for 2 months when this Osborne story was all over social media. I have seen the email that was sent and if true its shocking.

Its reported in lots of papers that The alleged victim's mother says that the family complained to the BBC on May 19, asking for the presenter to be told to stop sending their child money.

But she believes nothing was done and said the man continued to send her child cash as he remained on air.

Then she went to the Sun.

There’s only speculation now that a police probe “”may” be opened - likely will be opened but I haven’t seen any report that she went to the police- if she had it would be the police feeling the heat right now not the BBC
