Just wondering if anyone has met the inspector/superintendent at their local station? I've been to the pct(must repeat the damn beep test!) but have not met the local senior officer.....

Got my offer for the July intake.

Any groups set up for it? And does anyone have a list from the college of what we need? They’re slow about sending it and I want to get everything organised.

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone else has been though this.

I was told I have hearing loss in my left ear and had to go to an ENT specialist. I did and he said there is a bit of hearing loss alright but because I have been living with this for so long he doesn’t see it as an issue. Just wondering has anyone been rejected for this?

Do they send out an offer for an intake via email or phone call? I have everything done and waiting for an offer.

I went for my medical Monday and was shocked for them to tell me the exact same thing. The Doctor who done my medical said its so minimal that she doesn't see it being a problem. Im waiting to hear back from Garda HR now

I was in a similar situation, as soon as I got to 29 I went to my own GP and got a letter with all my measurements and details sent from there to occupational health, roughly 3 weeks after I got word from occupational health that I was signed off medically

    Hi folks,

I recently received an email from the Appointments Office (HRPD.GardaTrainee.Info@garda.ie) stating that they are awaiting the completion of my suitability checks. However, the email did not provide specific details regarding what outstanding items or documents are required. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could shed some light on the typical or common outstanding items or documents requested during suitability checks by the Appointments Office. I'm looking to gain a better understanding of what might be causing the delay.Thank you in advance for any insights or information you can provide.

If they needed additional info they’d contact you and ask for it. Just seems to take an awful long time and nothing you can do to hurry it up. Two months after submitting mine I got a call about a typo which was on the first page, so presuming they hadn’t even started my vetting until shortly before I got that call. Ridiculous considering the lack of numbers into the intakes

Does anyone know how the medicals are done, are they done by our GP or is it occupational health in the Garda HQ? Is it a private company?

    1. Hearing Test: An examination to evaluate the applicant's auditory function.

    2. Urine Test: A sample is analysed to assess overall health and detect potential underlying medical conditions.

    3. Eye Test: An evaluation of visual acuity and other eye-related parameters.

    4. Blood Pressure: Measurement of blood pressure levels to assess cardiovascular health.

    5. BMI Calculation: A calculation based on an individual's height and weight to evaluate body mass index, an important indicator of overall health.

Additionally, it is crucial for applicants to provide a comprehensive and honest medical history, including any current medications or treatments they are undergoing. This information aids in accurately assessing an applicant's health status.

The tests are conducted in either Limerick, Galway or Dublin.

Is there anyone from batch 9 still waiting on their suitability checks? Have everything finished since May but still waiting for an offer.

  • Registered Users Posts: 45 Conor123456

Been waiting since march for suitability check man

  • Registered Users Posts: 60 ✭✭Grace259

And is the medical done by the gardai occ health or is it done by a private company?

I’m in same boat and I rang 2 weeks ago and they lost my medical so I’d ring occupational health if you still waiting

  • Registered Users Posts: 39 osk112

Well... It's Occupational Health so there is a doctor and nurse that does it. I am not sure now if Garda Occ I think that's in Dublin HQ. If you do your fitness test they will let you know of the clinics you can go to.

Got offer for july intake. I didn't meet a super just seargent

Here is timeline of the process for me. I know it's diffirent for everyone.

    I am batch 10.

    My original OOM: 2987

    Report writing excercise 25th February

    Interview March 29th.

    OOM after interview: 205

News I passed interview: 14th of April

    Did fitness 6th of May

I did my medical the 9th of May and received positive news 23rd of June.

For the medical I used a dayy off from work and rang all them that were in reasonable driving distance and got an appointment next day in Waterford, I live in Dublin.

There was some complications and they asked me to get an opticians report which prolonged things.

I only met with a seargent. I met him 22nd of May. He will ask for social media details and If there's concerns regarding immediate friend group.

Then offer for July today 19th July.

I was surprised that I got the offer when I did as I have addresses in several countries. After you meet garda management (local) they do the family vetting. They then pass your file to the final process : security and intelligence who contact foreign police agency to vet you.

Also they give out offers days before intakes.

Hopefully this helps some folks best of luck to everyone.
