Should I give up on dating?

Because a lot of media ties into it. Especially the american stuff. I'd imagine social media does too. Loads of influencers showing that money ties into self worth.

Editing to add: I'm not agreeing with it btw, I'm just saying that it's easy to get that impression. Just as women have pressure to act/look in particular ways, men get it too. At some stage nearly everyone spends time trying to figure out how they fit in. And it's easy to say "Ignore it" but it's hard to do so when it's very prevalent amoungst your peer groups.

My advice is to try to ignore it. Live your life according to your rules. It can take a bit of time for some people to figure out who they are but in the end you'll be happier.

I'm back on apps after 8 years. I think they've changed or maybe society has changed. I don't recall so many false, staged photos in the past.

Not as obvious in the over 40s but definitely the majority of women in their 30s seem to use extremely posed and filtered profile pictures.
