It's that magnificent time of year again, when LOI First Division football is coming close to starting up.

It's been a quiet enough time for Treaty between seasons. We lost keeper Jack Brady and Sean Guerins, and we also lost Matt Keane who is returning to his roots to play for LOI's newest entrant, Kerry FC. Nice new away trip down there.

Otherwise I think we've held on to most of our squad, and added to it with Ryan Connolly, a midfielder with loads of LOI experience, defender Andy Spain from Athlone, and goalkeeper Shane Hallahan, with Anto O'Donnell coming back after a year out. I can't recall too many other players in or out.

We've had some matches already. We lost 3-0 to Cork in a friendly, and our (kind of) academy team lost 7-1 away to Shamrock Rovers. On the same day our first team beat Ringmahon rovers 4-3 after extra time in the munster Senior Cup Q/Final, with Enda Curran scoring a hattrick. We will now play cobh Ramblers in the semi-final, with venue and date to be confirmed. We are away to shelbourne in a Friendly this Saturday.

The season starts at home to Bray on Friday February 17 at 7.45pm, and we're away to Galway the following week.

There's a full set of fixtures here: https://www.sseairtricityleague.ie/assets/pdfs/SSE%20Airtricity%20Men's%20First%20Division%202023%20Fixtures.pdf

If you want to pick up some club mechandise, you can do so here: https://www.oneills.com/shop-by-team/soccer/soccer-clubs/treaty-united-fc.html

You can pick up season tickets here. It's €190 for an adult non-member: https://treatyunitedfc.com/tickets/

For members, it's here: https://treatyunitedfc.com/member-tickets/ I'm not a member so can't access it to quote a price.

Looking forward to it, though I doubt I'll get to more than a couple of games all season. The LOI TV pass is back, so I'll be making good use of that.

Looking forward to the season alright.

Any changes to Markets Field. Did they sort the problem with the away stand?

    Home shirt looks very nice.

Squad News (Other than those already mentioned):

Outs: Jack Lynch, Joe Collins, Conor Melody, Joel Coustrain and Callum McNamara have all departed as well.

Arrivals: Darren Collins, Conor Barry, Ben O'Riordan and Success Edogun

Hopefully we see more of Denzil Fernandes this year who is back from injury. With Galway and Waterford looking very strong, another playoff push would be a great achievement.

Treaty lost 2-1 to Shelbourne in a friendly on Saturday. We were ahead at half time through a Success Edogun goal, and stayed ahead with new keeper Shane Hallahan making a double save from a penalty and rebound, but Shels got the equaliser ad then a wnner in a 5-minute spell soon after.

A decent run-out by the sounds of it.

    Treaty 0-1 Bray Wanderers

Apologies, I completely fogot to report on this.

The bad news started even before the game, as Ryan Connolly had to depart the club due to work commitments 2 days earlier.

On the pitch, there was not a huge amount to report on, by all accounts. It was an even enough match, with little enough action in the first half. In the second, after a brief delay when somebody ran onto the pitch, apparenty Treaty created a few chances but didn't take them, and Bray nicked it in the 89th minute with a close-range finish from a cutback.

    The goal is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTgSHmRLH8g

A really disappointing start to the season, and the second match won't be any easier.

Next match: away to Galway, Friday February 24th, 7.45pm.

FAI report said the stand was ok and the incident was caused by over-enthusiastic fan behaviour, or words to that effect.

Which is absurd, as no stand should be liable to get damaged in some way because fans are jumping around inside it.

    Galway 1-0 Treaty

Narrow defeat away to title favourites Galway last Friday. Galway scored shortly before halftime, and with Treaty's twitter ccount bemoaning our lck of cutting edge, we struggled to create much at all during the game. It was Galway who came closest to scoring again as they finished stronger than a tiring Treaty.

Disappointing first two games of the season - 2 defeats without scoring - but hopefully we can turn things round on Friday when we travel to the new LOI team, Kerry FC, who are having an even worse start to their season and LOI life.

Next game: away to Kerry FC, Friday March 3rd, 7.45pm

    Kerry 1-1 Treaty

    (Curran)

First goal and first point of the season for Treaty, but it could and maybe should have been more. Kerry started brightly and were ahead within 10 minutes when they poked home a cutback from the endline, and they had the better of the first 20 or 25 mintues. Treaty played their way into the game, and levelled when the keeper could only claw a lob onto the crossbar, and it rebounded nicely for Enda Curran to scramble a finish.

Kerry started the second hald well, but Treaty were again getting the better of the game when a Kerry player received a second yellow, and that only helped the Treaty cause. We didn't fashion many real chances though, and even though the game ended with their goal under siege, we never really forced their keeper into a proper save, and they held on for their first ever point in the LOI.

Next game: home to Cobh Ramblers, Friday May 10, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 0-3 Cobh Rambers

Dreadful night at the Markets Field as the woeful start to the season continues.

The first half wasn't too bad - Cobh had the better of some parts, Treaty others. We came closed with a kind of a scrambled shot against the post after a free kick was drilled low into the area.

In the second half, it was again even enough until Cobh snatched a goal. One of their attackers did dogged work down the right wing, keeping a ball in play and then lobbing a cross over the keeper for a striker to head in from about 2 yards out. That was the end for Treaty, as we fell apart after that. We conceded two more goals, both times a Cobh player getting in behind the defence and calmly finishing past Hallahan.

There was a sniff of a late consolation but Armshaw fired right at the keeper when he should have done better. One point and 1 goal from 4 games is very worrying stuff, as we have no midfield at all to act as a platform for attacks.

Next game: away to Athlone, Friday March 17, 7.45pm.

The LOI version of the promotion bounce was always the new team bounce and it seems ours is over.

    Athlone 2-2 Treaty

    (Curran 2)

A 98th minute equaliser means we are still waiting for our first win of the season.

Athlone started well and created a few chances, and had they been ahead after half an hour we couldn't have complained, but we played our way back into the game towards the end of the first half.

In the second we went ahead just 7 minutes in when Curran got in behind the defence and squeezed a shot past/under the jeeper. They had a player sent off for a second yellow soon after, and not long after that Curran was in the right place to fire home a knock-down from a corner and we looked well on our way.

Athlone pulled one back with about 10 minutes to go when we froze defensively and a player took advantage to poke home, and then they pumped one long ball after another into the box, and we defended them all except the last one, which was laid off for what looked like a deflected shot to creep in at the near post, and the ref blew the final whistle immediately on the restart.

Really disappointing to throw it away, and we do not look like the same threat at all, especially in midfield, that we were last season. Next match might be rough.

Next game: home to Waterford, Friday 24th March, 7.45pm.

    Munster Senior Cup:

    Treaty 2-3 Cobh Ramblers

    (Kelly, Nwankwo)

Apologies, I completely forgot this cup match was on when writing the 'next game' part last Friday.

This was treated as a friendly/training/underage match for the most part, with a load of young players on the team.

We scored early through Colin Kelly, but Cobh were 2-1 up at half-time, and added a third in the second half before we scored a late consolation through Darren Nwankwo - his first goal in senior football.

It's the Munster Senior Cup so it doesn't matter, and hopefully the young players got a good runout.

Next game: home to Waterford, Friday March 24, 7.45pm.

    Wexford 1-1 Treaty

    (Curran penalty)

Treaty still winless, and it looks like it'll be a long season.

A floodlight failure after 5 minutes delayed the game by about 15 minutes, but the delay was about as exciting as anything that happened during the game. Two poor teams knocking it back and forth for the most part on a heavy pitch. We took the lead with a Curran penalty after their keeper was adjudged to have brought down a Treaty player, and we were 1 up at half time.

The equalised with a lovely cross and header combination just 45 seconds into the second half, and there wasn't a huge amount else to report on. Curran scuffed at a cutback when he's normally score, and their striker dragged a shot wide in a one-on-one after Treaty gave away possession, and we needed a super save from Hallahan right at the end to keep out a ball that was glanced on from a whipped cross.

Next game: home verus Longford, Friday April 7th, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 3-2 Longford

    (Devitt, Edogun, George)

Treaty finally get a win under their belt after a real battle tonight.

We were ahead after just 5 minutes. Curran was brought down right on the edge of the box, and Lee Devitt placed a left-foot shot low to the Longford keeper's right, and he could only claw it into the net. Lonford did most of the pressing after that, and got the equaliser when they got a one-on-one with Hallahan, and even though he saved the initial effort, the ball rebounded kindly off a defender for the striker to finish at the second attempt. Longford continued to have the better of things for the rest of the half, but Treaty had the best chance when Armshaw cut back inside and forced a decent save.

Enda Curran was injured and was replaced by Success Edogun at half-time, and he had a serious impact. Just 5 minutes into the half he picked up a loose ball, cut inside the defender and earned himself a yard of space before firing an absolute rocket into the top corner from about 20 yards out. We had the better of things for a while, but gradually Longford came back into it, and equalised with a ball across the back of the defence that was finished at the far post. It looked like another draw, but just a couple of minutes later we crept in behind their defence on a bll over the top, and although their keeper (ex-Treaty player Jack Brady) did well to get something on the shot from Andy Spain (I think), it popped up in the air for Dean George to nod in from about 4 yards out.

Longford pressed but we held out. Great to get a win, and something to build on for next weekend's trip to Mordor.

Next game: away to Finn Harps, Friday, April 14, 7.45pm

    Finn Harps 2-0 Treaty

Disappointing night in Donegal. The first 20 minutes were even enough, and we had the best chance when Success Edogun got in behind the defence but his touch let him down and he gave himself too narrow an angle.

Harps too the lead with a powerful header from a super inswinging corner on about 20 minutes, and nearly broke the crossbar with a cannon of a shot just a couple of minutes later, and we struggled to create anything of note.

The second half was much like the first, as we just find it so tough to create chances. We huffed and puffed but Harps were the more likely to score, and did with a back post tap in, and the game petered out after that as we were never looking like getting back into it.

Next match: away to Cobh Ramblers, Friday April 21st, 7.45pm.

    Cobh Ramblers 1-1 Treaty

    (Conroy)

Much better performance than the match against Cobh eariler in the season and with a little more composure we might have won.

We had a dreadful start and were behind after just 2 minutes. A long throw into the box was allowed bounce twice, and Jack Doherty, who tore us apart a few weeks ago, swivelled to fire home from about 6 yards. It was mostly Cobh after that for about 15 minutes and it looked like being a long night, but we got back into it out of nothing. A ball into the box was headed clear to the edge of the area, where Colin Conroy fired a super volley into the bottom right corner.

It was mostly Treaty after that for the rest of the half and rest of the game really, and we missed three good chances, all blazed over from good positions. Success Edogun in the first half, Alec Byrne in the second half, and Stephen Cristopher late on all snatched at and missed scorable chances, while Cobh missed a good chance of their own late on.

    Still, signs of improvement.

Next game: home to Kerry, Friday April 28, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 1-4 Waterford

    (George)

Apologies to anybody relying on my posts to know when the next game is - I completely forgot this game had been postponed and rescheduled for tonight.

I was just getting updates for this on, and they weren't much fun to receive. We were 1 down from a penalty after about 20 minutes, and 2-0 down just a few minutes later.

We got back into it when Dean George headed home after the ball pinballed round the box for a bit, and had a couple of chances shortly after, but waterford went up a gear and two goals in 4 minutes just after the hour put an end to things. A hattrick for Limerick-born Ronan Coughlan tonight, which makes it an incredible 7 in 2 games for him.

Surely we can get a win on Friday at least, against the side at the bottom of the table.

Next game: home to Kerry FC, Friday April 28, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 4-0 Kerry

    (George, Edogun x 2, O'Riordan)

Comfortable win against the bottom team in the table tonight. We had more of the possession and territory all night long and went ahead after about 10 minutes when a couple of neat passes slipped Dean George in behind the defence and he slid a low shot under the keeper.

Kerry’s one big moment came midway through the first half when a Treaty defender was adjudged to have handballed in the box. However Shane Hallahan did well to save the penalty low to his right, and instead Treaty went up the pitch and were two up within a couple of minutes. There was a bit of pinball in the box, and with Treaty players shouting for a penalty after a blocked shot, Success Edogun was the one who kept playing and smashed a low shot past the keeper. And it was 3-0 not long before halftime, when Dean George cut a ball back from the end line and Edogun was there again to place a left foot shot past the keeper from close range.

It could have been 4-0 early in the second-half, but Edogun’s long range shot crashed off the crossbar. We did get the fourth with about 15 minutes to go, when Ben O’Riordan looped a header back over the keeper from a corner. The game kind of petered out after that, and the only dark cloud was a nasty looking injury to Colin Kelly (I think) late on after a lunge by the keeper as they both went for a through ball. The 3 points takes us above Longford.

Next game: away to Bray, Monday May 1st, 3.00pm.

    Bray 0-3 Treaty

    (Curran (penalty), Armshaw 2)

Super win away to a team who beat us in Limerick in the first game of the season.

I was only going off updates for this, and by the looks of things Bray started well but even their twitter accound had Treaty coming back into the game and getting the upper hand during the first half, and continuing to have the better of things in the second half.

With 20 minutes to go we went ahead through Enda Curran from the spot after Ben O'Riordan went down under a challenge in the box, and withstood some Bray pressure after that with Hallahan making a couple of good saves, and then finished the game off when a ball over the top sent Armshaw in behind the stretched Bray defence to make it 2-0. Bray ended with 10 after a late red card, and Treaty added the cherry on top well into injury time when Armshaw again beat the keeper after being played in behind the defence.

Next game: home to Athlone, Friday May 5th, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 2-1 Athlone

    (Devitt, Ludden)

3rd win in a row for a resurgent Treaty tonight.

It didn't look like that for most of the game though. There wasn't much happening in the first half, but Athlone had the better of things, and midway through the half an Athlone player used his muscle to force a way past Ben O'Riordan and poke a near post finish from a narrow angle under Shane Hallahan.

We came into it in the second half, and had already hit the crossbar with a shot before we scored twice in 3 minutes. We had been pressing Athlone further up the pitch, and we forced them into a defensive mix up between their keeper and defender which ended up with Lee Devitt finishing into an empty net. Three minutes later Marc Ludden disposessed an Athlone player in his own half, played it forward and kept attacking himself, and after a lovely flick back to him from a selfless Colin Conroy, he finished low to the left corner.

Athlone were throwing men forward and we looked to finish it on the counter, with Armshaw coming closest when forcing a good save with a shot from the edge of the area. We had one final freekick into the box to survive, but the header went well over, and the final whistle blew.

Next game: away to Longford, Saturday May 13, 7.30pm.

    Longford 0-3 Treaty

    (Curran 2 (1 penalty), Cristopher)

4 wins in a row for Treaty, with an excellent performance against a dreadful Longford.

Longford started pretty well, and had the better of the first 20 minutes, nearly nicking one from a back posst shot after a cross into the box was flicked on. But after about 20 minutes, it was like they forgot how to play football and it was all Treaty after that. We nearly scored when Ben O'Riordan's back psot header from a corner forced a good save, and we did score a couple of minutes later when Enda Curran headed in from a similar position. We could have had 2 or 3 more before the break, but through last ditch defence and poor finishing, it remained 1-0.

The second half went the same way. We were 2 up from a Curran penalty after Darren Nwankwo had been climbed over in the box, and Longford were down to 10 immediately. Curran had been having a few words with Longford keep Jack Brady before the penalty, and after scoring, he went in to get the final word. Brady pushed him off, Curran went down, and Brady saw red, fairly harshly in my opinion.

It was almost 3 when Armshaw had the crossbar from an acute angle, and it was 3 when we passed our way through a resigned defence to set up Cristopher in acres of space to finish into an empty net. We could have had double that over the course of the game, but it was an easy easy night.

It ended on a sour note though. Ben O'Riordan took exception to what looked like an innocuous foul and his reaction saw him get sent off, and triggered a serious brawl involving a lof of grappling and players rolling round. A member of the Longford coaching staff saw red also.

We are up to 6th in the table, and only 2 points off 3rd, so back in the hunt for a playoff spot (not that anybody will have a hope of stopping Waterford).

Next game: Home versus Galway, Friday May 19, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 0-3 Galway

As we might have expected, Treaty's winning run came to an end last night at home to runaway leaders Galway.

It was en even enough start with both sides having half-chances in the first 20 minutes, but Galway went ahead from the spot after a Treaty player was adjudged to have handballed in the box. Galway had the better of things after that, and doubled their lead just before half time when they passsed their way through the defence to leave a striker with a far post tap in.

Treaty we down to 10 with an hour gone when Andy Spain received a second yellow for bring down a Galway player as he advanced towards goal, and while we were game, they were a class above, and finished it off in injury time, recycling the ball to score a close range goal against a tired Treaty defence. Hopefully we can get back to winning ways next week against a horribly out-of-firm Harps side.

Next game: home to Finn Harps, Friday May 26, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 0-3 Finn Harps

I was out on the lash here in Scotland so have no idea what happened in the game. Came home late and my phone started pinging with all the updates, and it was just one Finn Harps goal after another. A penalty after 12 minutes, a free kick 10 minutes before half time, and a goal in the 93rd minute.

Must have been a grim night at the Markets Field, and especially disappointing as this Harps team were in freefall.

Next game: away to Waterford, Friday June 2nd, 7.45pm.

    Waterford 7-0 Treaty

Just going off of updates for this, the phone seemed like it was pinging all night :(.

It wasn't too bad for the first 15 minutes, until we went one down, and it wasn't even too bad until about 30 minutes, when Waterford scored 4 in 11 minutes. 5-0 at half time.

Waterford scored again 10 minutes into the second half and had the luxury of subbing off half their team, but still added another in injury time. Grim stuff...there's losses away to a better side, and then there's that.

Next game: home to Wexford, Monday June 5th, 7.45pm.

What’s all this in the limerick leader about hateful chants by treaty fans at match against Finn Harps ?

the last night I was in markets fields there was hardly enough there to get a chant going not to mind a hateful one , this carry on along with the results will make it an even less attractive proposition for the general Limerick sports followers .

    Treaty 1-1 Wexford

    Ludden (penalty)

We miss a chance to overtake Wexford in the table tonight.

There wasn't much in the first half, with neither side really creating anything clearcut, but one super long range strike from a Wexford player put them ahead after 15 minutes and it stayed that way until halftime.

It was all Treaty in the second half, but though we had the possession and territory we didn't fashion any real chances. There were lots of balls into the box and a few speculative strikes, but nothing more. We equalised from a penalty after Ludden's sudden change of direction in the box caused a defender to make a rash trip, and though we pressed for the final 20 minutes, and came kind of colse a couple of times, we couldn't get the breakthrough.

Next game: home to Cobh Ramblers, Friday June 9th, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 0-1 Cobh Ramblers

Very disappointing night at the Markets Field, poor enough performance in general.

Cobh had much the better of things early on and we needed 2 or 3 very good saves from Hallahan to keep it scoreless. We played our way into the game and it was even enough by half time.

The second half continued to be even enough with few real chances for either side. With 10 minutes to go, Cobh went ahead through a close range after the Treaty defence had been stretched, and as Treaty pushed for an equaliser, both sides hit the woodwork in the final minutes, but we couldn't find the goal we needed.

We probably need the mid-season break.

Next game: away to Athlone, Friday June 23rd, 7.45pm.

    Athlone 0-2 Treaty

    (Curran, Armshaw)

Great to get back to winning ways after the break.

I was going off updates, and it seemed quiet enough intil the 20th minute, when Athlone were shouting for a penalty but instead Treaty countered and a beautiful ball over the top saw Curran in behind the defence and place a superb lob over the Athlone keeper and into the top corner.

Athlone had most of the game in the second half and we had a fair amount of defending to do, with some good saves and a Ludden headed clearance off the line late on.

Even later on we nicked another goal on the counter from Willie Armshaw, and that was that.

Next game: home versus Bray Wanderers, Friday Juny 30th, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 1-1 Bray

    (Curran)

Entertaining, end-to-end stuff at the Markets Field.

We were 1-0 down early on when a Bray attacker took advantage of confusion between the Treaty defence and keeper over who would claim a ball, but were almost level straight away when Armshaw put Dean George in but he delayed his finish. We were level when a beautiful ball over the top by Ludden was coolly lobbed over the stranded keeper by Enda Curran, and Curran missed another chance before halftime when he sliced a chance.

The second half was frantic stuff, with decent chances at both ends and both defences stretched at times. In the end we had Shane Hallahan to thank as he made a brilliant save from a point blank shot after a cross had been knocked down in the area, and that was the last action of the game.

Next game: Away to Kerry FC, Friday July 7, 7.45pm.

    Kerry 2-3 Treaty

    (Ludden, George, Curran)

I wasn't watching this, just going off updates, which seems just as well as the automated ball-tracking camera had a bad night in the rain and missed some of the goals.

Kerry scored in the first minute and last minute, and forced Hallahan into a number of saves throughout the game, but 2 first half goals from Ludden and Dean George had us ahead at the break.

Then, what's fast becoming a trademark lob by Enda Curran after another perfect pass by Dean George, put Treaty in the driving seat against the bottom side in the division with 15 minutes to go. Kerry had pressed for most of the second half and came close late on, hitting the crossbar when a goal might have made for a nervy finish, but the late goal they did get was too late to be anrthing other than a consolation.

Decent results for Bray and especially Athlone mean we don't close the gap on the playoff spots as much as we'd have hoped, and next week won't help!

Tonight's match against Waterford has been called off - the heavy rain meant the pitch failed an inspection about 45 minutes ago.

    Thanks!

Yeah, was just coming to post that, not sure why the change happened.

Compassionate grounds according to the Examiner but I didn't see the exact details.

Yeah I saw something about a Cork City fan/member passing away, but wasn't sure of the details either.

I see Shane Hallahan is leaving. Going to be very light in the goalkeeping department unless Winn is fit again.

    FAI Cup: Treaty 0-2 Cork

Was only going off updates for this one.

In the first half it seemed even enough, and it was Treaty who possibly came closest through a deflected Dean George shot that needed saving, and a Willie Armshaw shot that clipped the crossbar, while Conor Winn had to make a smart save in a one on one with a Cork attacker.

It was 1-0 cork early in the second half though, with a header from a corner, and 2-0 when a super pass sent a Cork player in to finish past Winn. Salt was rubbed in the wound with Darren Nwankwo being sent off deep into injury time.

Next game: away to Wexford, Friday July 28th, 7.45pm.

    Wexford 1-0 Treaty

Was only following this on twitter (sorry, on X) and by the looks of it, a fairly even and mediocre game, but wexford nicked a goal just before halftime and though we pressed later on, we never really came close to finding an equaliser.

We may still reach the playoffs (given 5 of the 9 teams are involved) but it's clear we've regressed significantly since last season.

Next game: home versus Longford, Friday April 4th, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 2-3 Longford

    (Lennon, George)

Treaty came out on the wrong end of an absolute rollercoaster tonight.

We started well enough and went ahead when Dean George flicked on a Ludden throw and debutant Adam Lennon glanced home at the far post. Longford weren't creating all that much, but their balls over the top were dangerous and they equalised when one of those long balls was cut back from the endline for a smart finish past Corey Chambers in goal, another debutant. There wasn't much in the rest of the first half but we went ahead just before half time when a smart pass found George just outside the area, and he swivelled to create space to fire a shot into the bottom left corner.

We probably had the better of most of the second half, although neither side created much until about 15 minutes to go, when it became really open and stretched. Longford nearly equalised from a glancing header that needed a save and forced a scramble, while we butchered one opportunity after another to create a one-on-one with their keeper.

The equalised on 87 minutes with a beautiful freekick from about 20 yards out, and the last 10 minutes was chaos, with both sides going for it, incredible end-to-end stuff. Eventually though, a scooped ball over the top of the Treaty defence did the damage, and although they needed a couple of goes at it, it was eventually poked home for a 95th minute winner.

We sink to 9th in the table, though we are absurdly only a handful of points off the playoffs.

Next game: away to Galway, Monday August 7th, 7.45pm.

    Galway 3-0 Treaty

Unsurprisingly, nothing out of the short trip north this evening.

We were 1-0 to a penalty after 8 minutes. Chambers actually saved it but came off his line in doing so and the retaken effort was scored. By the sound of the updates, we actually put in a decent attacking performance and hit the post twice in the first half, though we needed some good saves from Chambers also.

Galway added a second shortly before half time, and though we pressed early in the half, we faded later on and Chambers made more saves before Galway added a third late on.

Next game: away to Finn Harps, Friday August 11, 8pm.

    Finn Harps 0-1 Treaty

    (George)

Great to get back to winning ways with a solid performance against a team who'd beaten us twice this season, and we overtake them in the table too.

Not much happened in the first half. It was quite even and the best chance was probably when Adam Lennon's touch let him down when he had a chance to go one-on-one with the keeper.

We scored right at the start of the second half, when Stephen Cristopher drove at the defence before George found the space for a shot that somehow found its way into the bottom near corner. Their keeper will be disappointed.

It was quite end to end after that. Twice we needed goalline clearances when a goal seemed certain, and Chambers made a good save to keep out a vicious dipping shot, while we wasted some chances to engineer one-on-one chances on the break. We were pretty comfortable for the most part though.

Next game: home to Kerry, Friday August 25th, 7.45pm.

    Friendly: Sligo 2-0 Treaty

Somehow this slipped under my radar completely until my phone pinged with Sligo's first goal last night, and with only two updates from the Twitter page, at HT and FT, I'm still none the wiser regarding anything other than the lineup and final score line. Hopefully no injuries and some fitness improvements.

    Treaty 3-1 Kerry

    (Curran x2, Guerins)

We made rough work of this at times, before finally getting over the line.

We started brightly and had more of the ball and territory for most of the first half. We were 1-0 up when Curran wrestled past a defender to poke home a low Ludden ball into the box, but Kerry equalised out of nothing when Mark Walsh dived to head a cross away from danger, only to glance it into his own bottom corner.

Kerry had much the better of things for the first 20 minutes of the second half, and we needed a superb goalline clearance to stay level. Then it was Treaty's turn to score out of nothing, as Kerry got sloppy passing round the back and Curran again was on hand to finish a low ball across the box. That knocked the stuffing out of them, and we were comfortable after that, and finished things off when a corner made its way over everybody to the waiting Sean Guerins who sidefooted low back across the goal and into the far bottom corner.

We go ahead of Bray in the table, and have 48 hours before a match with Waterford.

Next game: Home versus Waterford, Monday August 28th, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 2-2 Waterford

    (Edogun x 2)

Super comeback against a team who'd battered us already this season.

We started appallingly and were 2 down within 10 minutes. Firstly, just a minute in, a low ball across the box was spilled by keeper Chambers and a bit of pinball ensued, ending when an attempted clearance hit a Waterford player and looped into the net. We were 2 down from a penalty after Robbie Lynch brought down a Waterford player. We came back into it after that, but while we had loads of territory and possession, we lacked any cutting edge in the final third.

This continued in the second half, with Waterford content to sit back and defend, and it looked like they'd see it out. They had a chance to seal it when they were awarded another penalty midway through the half, but Corey Chambers made a very good save. Then, out of nothing, Egodun arrived first at a ball over the top and lobbed the stranded keeper, and 10 minutes later he engineered a yard of space on the edge of the area and lashed a screamer into the far top corner, and it was 2-2 and if anything, we looked the more likely to win it, but there were no more clear-cut chances.

Super stuff after a dreadful first 10 minutes.

Next game: away to Cobh Ramblers, Friday September 1st, 7.45pm.
