    Lads 100k, 150k 240k or 711k?

    Its not their money.

They are servants of the Irishmen and women of ireland with passports.

    We'll decide if need be.

The are not talented. They promoted themselves as talented with the Fooking RTE Guide.

Its all a con. The talking Fooking clock at best.

A guard is on what €35K starting Joe Duffy at €350K?

One funny thing Joe Brolly mentions is that on the LLS RT uses cue cards and if you go off script you can see him flounder.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,746 ✭✭✭Pelvis Parsley

"Ryan doesn't do that", when Brolly referred to an unscripted approach.

I remember being at a Tommy Tiernan gig recently, and he said EXACTLY the same.

They're not fond of the Toyman.

"They are servants of the Irishmen and women of ireland with passports"

What an odd statement to make, not sure why the reference to a passport?

Anyway they are not servants of the Irishmen and women. Nobody working in the public sector should be seen as a servant. Awful statement to make, do you think a nurse is a servant to you? I can tell you they are not.

The only way to get change in any organisation like RTE is look at the situation. Talking about servants and passports is the reason why we never get change in Ireland, can't have a proper discussion before it descends into the ridiculous.

Lot's of people listen to and watch RTE so going on about "Fooking clock" really doesn't add anything to the discussion.

RTE wages should be set at a competitive level for the role they are in, across the entire organisation. No more outbidding themselves to keep the likes of Tubs. They should also focus a lot more on bringing in new people more than spending millions each year on keeping a load of older people. They should have a base salary and if they want more based on targets. So D'Arcy was brought back for more advertisement revenue for a TV show. SO none of that has happened yet he is still been paid a fortune? Doireann was taken in because of her social media presence and she would bring in loads more listeners to 2FM, hasn't happened yet she is still been paid.

That is the problem, even if they crash and burn the presenter doesn't see any reduction. You get the idea.

This story seems to have disappeared like a balloon at a party,

Said it a few weeks back lads - a slow bubbling story is far better than “boner in the trousers” outrage.

I just can't see RTE staff being willing to work with Tubridy. He has utterly taken the p*ss out of them by not only not taking a pay cut but with the side deal whereby his pay went up. We all know Tubridy didn't get where he is on ability. He has none. A pure cardboard cut out. Typical Ireland it's who you know etc or your lineage.

Will RTE staff be given an option?

I doubt a lot of them wanted to work with him before this based on his carry on

Still front page of the Irish Times today 4+ weeks later. Governments have fallen in half that time.

    And there’s more to come.

It hasn’t gone away despite how much you claim and clearly want it to.

  • Registered Users Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

I just heard Tony Bennett has passed away. RIP.

Tubs told the story once on his radio show of how when he was in NY one time he saw Bennett walking on the street, so he ran up to him and asked for a selfie. Bennett sad “no thank you, I’d rather not” (or words to that effect), but that didn’t stop Tubs who took the selfie anyway - despite Bennett asking him not to do so.

Now that is self-awareness….and class.🙄 And then to tell the story on-air instead of being embarrassed by his behaviour. 🙄

He’s also told of the time he did the same thing to Paul McCartney at a private gig he was invited to. He’d been told/warned by the PR people in advance not to ask for a selfie, but did it anyway. He even said that in the selfie McCartney is looking aghast at him trying to take it. And classily Tubs said he (RT) was eating a sandwich at the time too.

The level of entitlement and self-importance it must take to do things like this must be breath-taking.

The lead singer of the Nothing Burgers chimes in again.

The massive outrage couldn't be sustained obviously but is being continued in a more sustainable way with people not paying the licence.

This has been the biggest story of the year.

    Please don't report my post.....

The Grant Thornton Report will probably clear RT of the €120k loyalty Bonus next week

It will put that on RTE.

If thats spun well By RTE and RT it may confuse a section of the public that the RT matter is settled due to the overcomplicated nature of the €150k barter account.

Good to know. I was keeping an eye on it in the print media and it naturally had ran out of steam as there had been no new revelations.

You can probably ignore any posts I make after 22:00 and take them with a pinch of salt.

Apparently Bakhurst was going to speak to staff and gauge their feelings about Tubridy coming back to work there. Personally I don't think it's tenable. Plus their has to be consequences to sleveen behaviour such as what Tubridy engaged in.

FREE in The Irish Times today.

  • One guest on LLS took the cue cards off him, knowing how greatly he depended on them, and he was in a lather of sweat.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,291 ✭✭✭evolvingtipperary101

    ….

  • Unpredictability was what entertained the nation way back in the day when the LLS was aired. Gaybo had a number of scripts, but he wasn’t particularly sticking entirely to any one of them, and sone were back up scripts if guest went dry on one topic. You didn’t quite know where a topic or guest was going to lead, and being live you had your popcorn ready for a big moment to happen out of the blue. That happens with Ryan only when some very naughty guest goes off piste and you see him struggle to bring it right back on his particular planned one way track.

Am I reading the situation correct between several posts over the weeks here that there is much much larger story at RTE?

A government toppeller? What precisely has been going on over there for the last 10 years or so?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,280 ✭✭✭ZookeeperDub

That's just noise from Bakhurst, he won't go near any of the staff. Will have a chat at the exec level and give themselves the thumbs up

We'll know a lot more when RTE reveal what money the 50 lowest earners are on at RTE. But this practice of bogus employment/zero hour contracts is endemic to various industries. The professions, from lecturer to Nurse, are being destroyed.

Media committee seeks further documents from RTÉ (rte.ie)

Information requested by the Oireachtas Media Committee include a letter related to the underwriting of the tripartite commercial agreement, details of all individuals in receipt of car allowances, the salaries of the 50 lowest earners in the organisation, confirmation that all podcasts operated by employees are permitted under RTÉ rules, the terms of reference for the establishment of a register of interests, and details around the production of the programme "The Movie Show".

He'll warn the staff to work with Tubs and not complain or else and there'll be absolutely no consequences for the Golden Boy of RTE and he'll walk back as brazen as ever..

That's exactly why Bakhurst has been appointed imo.

The idea that you can just suddenly replace the entire SMT in an organisation with a load of plucky and opinionated outsiders is gas.

The new CFO is Fergus from Ballinasloe. He was previously employed as a team leader on the overnight assembly line for a manufacturer of generic medicines for cats. He is happy to take a 68k salary for the role, and can’t wait to get stuck into the cosy consensus within the organisation.

Fergus obtained a B3 in Bus Org for the Leaving Cert and has downloaded a complex Excel spreadsheet from the internet. When not thinking about strategic reform, Fergus enjoys playing Call of Duty Online.

  • Registered Users Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

Yeah that’s what people suggested alright. 🙄

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,225 ✭✭✭✭Furze99

If Fergus is honest, diligent and wont to wage war on the excessive spending of tax payers money. If Fergus can see the balance between effective & necessary spending to deliver public service broadcasting and wasteful aggrandisement of higher management and 'talent'. If Fergus can smell a rat and go looking for further information, get advice from outside if required. Then I don't see why Fergus would not be well suited.

On other hand if Fergus is highly qualified and also wont to go along with lining the pockets of his esteemed colleagues and happy to participate in as many junkets as are going, then no.

An added bonus would be that Fergus is proud of his country and sees this role as a privilege to serve the nation and culture which he loves.

Not to mention he's a talented bilingual communicator with an eye for merit and genuine natural born talent.

Upon retirement Fergus is commemorated on a €1.65 stamp.

G'way ourra dat with the 'privilege to serve the nation' stuff when it comes to public service. People do it because it's a job, no more, no less.

Like it or not, the two Boards of RTE can't be changed at the drop of a hat because that would cause mayhem in the organisation. A good pruning is about as far as you can go with the C Suite before you do too much damage.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,329 ✭✭✭Cluedo Monopoly

The senior Board didn't have much to do because nobody told them anything.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Nor did they want them to do anything like rocking the boat for example.

If it is not broke don't fix it. Leave it be.
