That just isn't how you tap a penalty, NZ can't have complaints about it.

It was in his hands when he touched it with his foot. Correct call.

Barnes has been good, there's so much messing going on from both sides, he's not gonna catch it all, but think he's been balanced so far.

Thought that tackle on Smith after he fumbled at the base might have been looked at again. Australia dodged a bullet there imo.

    from the world rugby website

    1. The ball must be kicked a visible distance. If the kicker is holding it, it must clearly leave the hands. If it is on the ground, it must clearly leave the mark. Once the kick has been successfully taken the kicker may play the ball again.

    Sanction: Scrum.

NZ wont go near the open side, probabky trying to put all the big NZ men on on side, reiko must be bored senseless. Will jordan not getting any ball either

Aussie's kicking game is doing them no favors, given NZ too many opportunities to run at them.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,143 ✭✭✭Brief_Lives

Gordan has made 4 clear kicking mistakes now. having the debut Yips.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,864 ✭✭✭TheRona

NZ deserved that try. Should have been a penalty for the Aussie player deliberately swatting the ball into touch when NZ were attacking a minute earlier. It was even pointed out to Barnes, but he wasn't interested.

Aussie 10 needs to come off at half time.

Their halves haven't been good. Gordon's kicking has been poor, and McDermott's passing from the ruck hasn't been great.

Can't say Mo'unga has done much of anything in the game so far. Barret has been the fulcrum for the backs so far

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,143 ✭✭✭Brief_Lives

They seem to be swapping between mounga and barrett as first receiver. I think Smith has been ok. This is the most pressure the kiwis have had at the breakdown since they probably played us Ireland. Not too much ball coming back to the 10, the forwards are usually first receiver.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,864 ✭✭✭TheRona

I'm not liking how the breakdown is being policed. Aussie tacklers are never releasing then attempting to jackal, slowing the ball.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,490 ✭✭✭✭AbusesToilets

Aus don't seem to look to use Skelton in the carrying game much

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,143 ✭✭✭Brief_Lives

For Oz, Gordan not playing too well, but they have that flake Quade as the sub.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,490 ✭✭✭✭AbusesToilets

Immediately kicking away possession I'm the NZ 22, poor decision there

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,654 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

Neither set of forwards seem to pass as comfortably as the Irish or French

Did Barnes call penalty advantage over, or just decide on the spot that they had gained enough?

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,490 ✭✭✭✭AbusesToilets

The latter I think. Like to see it, good trend

Aussies have some good physicality with their carrying. Valentini is really going hard.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,864 ✭✭✭TheRona

Not at all. Knowing if you have advantage affects how a team will play. He's having a stinker from a NZ perspective.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,586 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

That tackle by barrett on kerevi was amazing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,490 ✭✭✭✭AbusesToilets

Disagree tbh it's always been on a ref to decide when an Advantage is over. Would have made no difference there

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,654 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

    Blatantly collapsed?

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,490 ✭✭✭✭AbusesToilets

Think that should've been a pen to Aus for the maul collapse there

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,586 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

They should never have allowed pappali get through to the ball carrier once the got the secondary maul going

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,586 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

That rule is going to have to change.

Australia have a choice of taking off an injured player and not being allowed to replace him or leaving an injured player on.

He could and probably does have a broken rib and hes staying on the field now.

This is simply negligence of the highest order.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,490 ✭✭✭✭AbusesToilets

Tupou needs to get off, he's in **** bits like. Duty of care surely

And then he goes and gets himself yellow carded. Wonder how much his rib injury impacted his ability to bend into the tackle.

Horrendous decision to keep him out there, but indeed Aus were faced with a terrible decision. Not a fan of the uncontested scrum rule, but also know that if it wasn't there it would be abused. Very hard to know what to do.
