Could Robot Lawnmower Station have electrocuted cat ?

Hi,

Bit of an odd post but hope I can get someone who understands electrics more than I.

Sadly found a stray cat which had been around gardens living in sheds around here for a few years dead a foot or two in front of a Parkside Robot Lawnmower charging station we had just set up. Cat had no visible injuries.

Charger station was plugged in and active. The Robot mower was not in it .

Is it possible that it could have shocked the Cat and killed it or just pure coincidence it died there? Could the Cat have gone under and made contact with the two metal terminals underneath and got a shock.

It was raining so there would have been water involved to some degree.

Highly unlikely. I assume no breaker tripped.

Aren't these charging stations run off a low-voltage DC plug anyway? The AC is typically only at the wall socket where the power-supply is, so that's how they keep the systems safe. So unless yours has AC running into it (unlikely but possible), then it's not possible.

You mean RCD. A breaker alone could let more than the required 30mA into a body to cause electrocution and not trip, but an RCD if fitted would trip.

No conclusion on the casue of death of the cat can be drawn from whether the MCB tripped or not!

Again, if it's LV DC and it's fully isolated from the AC by a distance, then there is no concern!

Are the charger pins powered all the time or when battery is inserted

If that's the one the charging pins are very accessible for contact by a cat

Dunno would that ELV 20V or whatever it is electrocute a cat

no its complete rubbish. My Elderly father still got it ( cat dies at his home) against all my advice. The reviews for it are horrendous.

That's the thing. Grandkids would be over playing in the garden. If there's any chance of electrocution that's it in into the skip.

I couldn't tell you if there is charge running through without contact with the robots battery.

The pins seem are very prominent easily accessible by a cat, dunno would it electrocute though no idea

Rain would improve contact if you ever seen the green mile you'd get the idea

Would 20v DC kill a cat

If this actually happened and cat was somehow electrocuted it's a serious H+ S issue and they need a recall

By the way if the cat was electrocuted how would it get 2 ft from the power source?

People can get thrown can they not when electrocuted

I know stray voltages are a hazard in cattle sheds etc, been mass electrocutions of cattle

Probably just a coincidence here I suppose though most likely

The cat can go under and make contact with them 2 pins no problem

The rest I don't know id assume probably not electrocuted but in the case of humans they can react differently to shock

Would a cat normally wind up dead in the open or would they go somewhere else to die

Anyone able bodied can simply cut the grass , standard lawnmower tech has improved

Older less mobile people these things are a little complicated setup and likely issues in use

What is supposed to automate cutting the grass is probably not that in reality

I can't see the market except as a gadget

Could be there's no voltage at all until the mower engages the pins

A multimeter would easily determine that
