    How old is the house and have you inspected joists, etc?

    Treat it with woodworm treatment and check all surfaces in attic. Choose a spot and mark all woodworm holes with a marker pen - check yearly to see if they increase or not. If your attic is well ventilated and dry the general moisture content of the timbers will be low and below about 15% all woodworm will die out naturally. So adequate ventilation is your best defense against woodworm.

    We did exactly what I suggested and 25years of monitoring show no deterioration.

    10-10-20 and other. House about 60yrs. Problems: 1 insulation now level with tops of joists; 2 I’m in 70s, while willing can’t tackle this. Need advice: do I need a builder, surveyor, roofer or are there reliable specialists (Munster) who could identify extent of problem, how to fix and who to do so. Thank you for any help/advice you can offer. Roof vents installed when recommended insulation depth (between joists) installed about 4 yrs ago.

    Hi @Lillybolero, what Shoog said is probably the best method but it's unachievable for you, fair enough.

    There are specialists in Munster, I had a quick Google, but we don't tend to recommend specific ones on here for multiple reasons. I'd recommend that you look for a smaller business who'll take the time to carry out an initial survey marking the holes, apply a treatment then review after a period of a year or so.

    Thank you both. I’ve treated (injected/sprayed) holes etc I can see w well known brand: unsatisfactory as hatch cover hangs down and stuff runs off. Tackled quite a bit previously but as a f. 80 next b’day, think ‘No, better not’.
