Just looking at the latest update on the Rte 9 O’clock news. Some man who is from independent broadcaster shinawill on it stating people were refusing to pay “Willy nilly” and “nothing was been done about it”. People l know have refused to pay as a token of their anger . It’s not “Willy nilly” also what does he “want done”??? Maybe squads of armed gardai breaking down doors and hauling the non payers off to the cells?? These lndependents and rte have been too long on the gravy train….they see it’s running out of fuel and they don’t like the idea that they may have to get off and walk the rest of the way…tough

No matter how good PK is on the LLS,I don’t think he should be offered a radio show. Broadcasting jobs are few and far between in Ireland and I think they should be spread amongst as many as possible rather than concentrated amongst a few ridiculously highly paid few. Better to spread opportunities around. Two people on 100k is better than one on 200k. We also don’t want to create another monster ego.

I held off from the start of the month when my licence was due but I am tempted to pay up next week in appreciation of the dg getting shot of the leech!!

In that photo there is a little child on the Toy Show, but you can tell he thinks it's all about him.

"Photograph me, for I am the Toy Man".

Don't forget it has been hinted that he has received offers from other stations. Didn't his agent say something along those lines?

Well, let's see which of the many offers he has that he takes.

The whole of Ireland saw him say he would give that money back. There are one or two bad people in Ireland. Ryan tubridys physical safety isn't 100% secure unless he gives that money back. He would be a fool not to give the money back and use it as a PR opportunity

The few real Tubridy fans in the country? :) May not be enough to sustain a podcast though.

    Regards...jmcc

We’ll see how much advertising he can generate now without the RTE apparatus behind him.

Last Christmas LLS was the pinnacle of his ego coming to the fore - there wasn’t a second of that show that wasn’t about him or his brand of cheesy loveliness devoted to the promotion of Ryan Tubridy - he lost all sense of what that show was meant to be about - while the presenter should always play second fiddle to the main act (the children and the toys)- he decided he’d become the main act- it was absolutely vomit inducing

100% , since bakhurst left the door ajar for him , I had the misfortune of meeting the man once , I couldn't have been any lower than shot on the heel of his boot , his arrogance was breathtaking, no wonder bakhurst said not now Josephine!

Can't see Newstalk being interested, his schtick, even if he was way better at it than he actually is, is not their schtick. the only Irish radio station I'm aware of that specialises in Tubridy's brand of easy listening is RTE Gold. And obviously there's a problem there...

Nah buddy, too aggressive for that slot, arrogant type of person in my opinion.

As replacements go , I'd love to see MARK LITTLE offered the gig , his story ville journalism was class , I know he's since sold it ! And a more genuine nice man you couldn't meet !

Another man who is not nearly as important as he thinks. Spoofer.

It seems Ryan Tubridy torpedoed his own return to RTE with yet another ill advised statement. It's yet another reminder that we have been paying an incompetent fool millions from the public coffers. His repeated lack of self awareness is stunning. As much as I welcome Kevin Bakhurst finally putting his foot down I am deeply perturbed that he countenanced bringing Tubridy back in the first place. The planned reduced salary is a welcome first sign of tangible reform in RTE. It looks like the gravy train for presenters might be finally taken off the tracks.

Tubridy is surely finished in broadcasting in Ireland. He ain't getting broadcasting employment abroad as he does have the chops to cut it and here his reputation is shot.

Fionnan Sheahan was sublime when he summed up tubridy & agent as a Del boy & Rodney performance ! Yes , only short of a Robin reliant parked in leinster House!

Whoever they appoint to replace Tubridy on the 9-10 slot will be interesting.

Will tell a lot about the way forward for RTE radio in my opinion.

Callan would be my choice, at least there’s a bit of ‘spark’ in him.

Off the top of my head I can't recall one interview the Tubbster ever did that was memorable in any way, that was impulsive viewing or listening, that drew an interviewee out of themselves, where we all learned something and could lean back later with a wine or whatever and say "now that was good", he lacked spontaneity and was too damn lazy to research his guests he lacked that vital thing that all interviewers had, that ability to go with the flow, to spot the seam of gold incoming instead capping it before it got a chance slapping the table swiveling in his chair consulting his cuecard and heading off on the well worn boring predictable track that he always followed , I'd say it would be hard to fill an hour with highlights from his career, there was nothing remarkable about him at all, he was lucky to have got away with his oul stichk for so long that's all, he should have been counting paper clips in some back office daydreaming of meeting the American president if right was right... He's no loss

RTE happy to have uncontroversial bland and mediocre presenters.

Claire Byrne is the most boring and bland presenter at the moment in RTE and she was given the high profile mid morning current affairs programme.

Astonishing that Dee Forbes appears to be still sick from whatever illness she contracted in June.

He also lacks the ability to connect with people and has no real curiosity about anything or anyone outside of his own rarefied world, imo.

He got into RTE at a very early age and coasted for far far too long. He would have been there until retirement (and after) if his and his agent's greed hadn't scuppered him.

I think the arrogance is still alive and well in RTE, evidenced by the fact that he was to be brought back. I appreciate that it wasn't an easy decision to get rid of him but it seems Bakhurst had no intention of doing so until Tubridy messed up - again.

His radio programme benefitted from coming after Morning Ireland.

The Late Late brand is very strong and popular in Ireland. People watch it because of the brand and not the presenter. The same with The Toy Show. They could have a nobody presenting the Toy Show and it would still get a million viewers.

And Tubridy became inextricably linked with Covid and that whole period now so hated by the young because their lives were effectively stopped more than in any country in Europe. Apart from the whole pay fiasco, even if that was never discovered Tubridy was finished on the LLS . I remember he wouldn't even dress in a smart suit that time but went for the dishevelled dark badly fitted suit as if trying to bring down the mood of the country, contrast that with Graham Norton who was doing the opposite and trying to do as much as he could get away with then, After that Tubridy was finished

RTE clearly feel that getting rid of Tubs closes the door on the whole debacle. No need for anyone to investigate anything else. This will be old news in 2 weeks time and they can continue as before, wasting money on themselves.
