Heard talk that some of the players are trying to convince him to stay. But nothing more than that.

i imagine he will stay , the wexford lads have been up here a few weeks ago watching his club team sixmilebridge , he has also brought the sixmilebridge team down to wexford last week for challenge games , he is still holding on to his strong connection with the county

he is not in line for the clare job at the moment so i imagine he will stay where he is

According to the local Wexford paper called the "Wexford People" that came out today, Davy is expected to stay for another two years.

We better start selling more tickets in the Wexford County Development draw so. :)

Matty Forde has been confirmed as a selector for the footballers.

Rumours that Davy is talking to Galway now.

Hopefully the county board have a plan B as we have the New York Hurling tournament in mid November & need management & selectors in place way before then.

Sounds like pure speculation as he was out of the country until the weekend.

his two hurling projects are sixmilebridge and wexford at the moment , he has one eye on the clare job in around two years time i cant see any change until then

Any Wexford Football supporter offer an opinion on David Power's term as football manager.

Tipperary has just appointed him but I am not impressed.

The Forum on Spirituality has been closed for years. Please bring it back, there are lots of Spiritual people in Ireland and elsewhere.

In fairness to him e came into it at a bad time with so many of the golden generation hanging up their boots.

However, I didn't rate him at all the play was terrible and they went backwards quickly as a unit. if he's any use it's over younger players not seniors.

Lotta rumours circulating that Davy is away to Galway.

    Let's hope they're not true.

He said he will make up his mind in the next day or two. Said he had no contact about the Galway position.

Wonder could DJ take over now that he has left the KK U20's if Davy steps down ?

I can't see DJ Carey of Henry Shefflin managing outside of Kilkenny before Cody retires.

They'll want to keep their powder dry for the big gig.

Dj knows Henry is fav for the top job unless Dj does something big with a county team

    Up Wexford

Listening to Davy on radio this morning and he came across so flaky and unsure and undecided...almost "Oh, sure I'll do it. Aren't I so great."

Are Wexford that desperate for his services?

Davy wouldn't do the job unless he is 100% wants to do it.

Its not that we are desperate for him, but the players clearly believe in him and want him. That's the important part.

Well, if you listened to him today he was not near 100 percent....

A flake is what I heard...

Well in fairness, just back from his holiday, was down in Wexford for the last day or so and then travelling back, so tireness might be one part of it.

    Time will tell

Was the quality of the win though. Several points down when 1st man went and even 2 points down at 67 mins / 2 men down.

Galvin has walked just as things were about to kick off again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,594 ✭✭✭✭castletownman

Galvin has walked just as things were about to kick off again.

Timing seems completely off, considering county teams are allowed back training this week. A bit hypocritical too if you ask me considering he was pulling up lads for a supposed lack of commitment, yet he jumps ship before year one (of an albeit distrupted) of the project. Even if it is Covid relation, he could have had his management taking training till the next review in three weeks.

I just made a point in another discussion forum not far from here, that during the truncuated local championship, it almost seemed that the county board were at pains to ensure that Davy did some co-commentary etc.

The coverage was widely praised, but its noticeable that it has dried up considerably since the football resumed (they don't even have highlights of games any more), and Galvin was never part of any of the commentary teams.

His appointment alone boosted our profile outside the county, but its clear that it is still the poor relation within it.

Seeing as Hoganstand has gotten rid off county page discussion it might be a good move to revive this here!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,179 ✭✭✭Billy Ocean

Absolutely, maybe there was budgetary reasons but seems like self sabotage what the people running hoganstand did.

  • Registered Users Posts: 893 ✭✭✭Deisegodeo

it must be to do with monitoring the website and the fear of legal action over something posted.

I think that was the reason the old an fear rua site stopped their forum a number of years ago.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,892 ✭✭✭the kelt

To be fair the Wexford page on hoganstand was popular and busier than a lot of the other county pages

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,892 ✭✭✭the kelt

Whats people thoughts in regards to the Football Championships?

Pretty much along the lines as expected last week, Castletown getting revenge for the hurling, Martins maybe shaking off the disappointment of the hurling championship to go all out on football. The Starlights starting their quest for the double this weekend and will come close imho.

As an aside 2 former football kingpins shipping serious beatings in their respective grades, Ballyhogue and the Vols, sad to see.

Looks like an open championship. Probably looking at a leading group of Castletown, Shels, Martins and Starlights in terms of possible winners. If Barry o'connor is back fit he'll be a big help home from Syndey for a few weeks for the Martins. Glynn probably best of the rest, St James usually competitive too, Gusserane then the big enigma could do anything good or bad.

3 tickets for the open stand side in Wexford Park for Saturday's Leinster Hurling game vs Dublin if anyone wants them at face value (or less). PM me if interested.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,085 ✭✭✭✭BonnieSituation

Howdy all. I come in peace!

I have 2 tickets in the Covered Stand for Saturday evening's game available gratis to a good home.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,892 ✭✭✭the kelt

Seeing as Hoganstand dont actually seem to even bother updating their forums more than ONCE a day at this stage are there enough Wexicans on here interested in using this forum?

    Make it 3.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,892 ✭✭✭the kelt

Will the 3 of us solve all the woes in Wexford or should we just set up a whatsapp group?😀

Interesting backroom team for Rossi, rumors of Malachy Travers coming in also. Not sure of what coaching Fitzhenry has done, watching him in the Hurling for Cancer game the other day theres plenty of Junior teams or maybe a little higher that he could still do a job for?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,315 ✭✭✭Grueller

Malachy was involved with Ballyboden to win a co title up there a couple years back. He has a very young family though so whether he would have the time or not is a different discussion.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,599 ✭✭✭Uncle Pierre

I'm another refugee from Hogan Stand 😁

Fitzhenry was previously goalkeeping coach with Davy Fitzgerald for a couple of years. Also spent some time managing a club team in Carlow. Was either Erin's Own in Bagenalstown or Naomh Eoin in Myshall - I always get those two mixed up!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,892 ✭✭✭the kelt

Didnt know that about the team in Carlow.

Just never remember him being involved with a club in Wexford.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,599 ✭✭✭Uncle Pierre

It was only for a year or two, and IIRC, was before Davy was Wexford manager. So must be 7 or 8 years ago now.

He's actually a neighbour of mine. I remember him saying once that he decided club management isn't really for him, but he's happy enough with goalkeeping coaching all right.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,315 ✭✭✭Grueller

So Kilanerin and Castletown are out front in the senior football championship. I imagine the winner will come from those 2 or the Shels?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,179 ✭✭✭Billy Ocean

Hard to see anyone outside of those 3 contesting, maybe a Gusserane if they got a bit of momentum or St James, wouldn't judge St James too much on their 1st 2 games think they've suffered a bit of a hangover from 2 extra time games in a row in hurling semi final and final and apparently were missing players with Electric Picnic at the weekend, if they snook a 4th place in the group could be tricky in a QF, Martins, Gorey and Horeswood seem to have started strong in Intermediate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,315 ✭✭✭Grueller

Ya I thinknthe winners of intermediate will be from the Martins or Naomh Eanna. I think Horrswood are a distance behind those 2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,179 ✭✭✭Billy Ocean

Taught Martins were the stand out from early on, Gorey are a weird one, brilliant record at underage but seems a complete lack of interest in football at adult hard to judge from 1 year to the next, but they have to players to compete at Senior in my view if they have the appetite.
