Not too many issues. bit of leeway but players were going lower. some massive hits as well just like you would expect in a city derby game so those thinking they wont happen are just wrong.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned but Craig Gilroy is playing with Bangor RFC in 2C.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 336 ✭✭luke9311

always great to see lads like that retire from the pro game and go back to the club game instead of fully hanging up the boots.... probably draws in a few people too if they heard ex pros are playing with a nearby club team on a saturday, simular to o'brien last year with naas and mike ross or danny poolman with malahide few seasons back.... is that craigs club before he went pro do yeno or just a clubs hes decide to play with since he retired?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,186 ✭✭✭Lost Ormond

Gilroy is from Bangor and he has helped coach their 1XV before as well as playing with them when younger

Saw a bit of pre-academy vs Old Wesley last night. Pre academy prop, not sure who he was, red-hair & large was very good. Smashed a Wesley player. Have heard we are doing great in USA. There was a big win over Ohio State, lots of positive performances.

This is really one of those questions I should answer by just going in, but I'm stuck at my desk so i'll ask it of the group mind.

What's the story with going to AIL games in, for instance, Blackrock RFC? Is it just a case of wander in when there's a game on, do they charge anything, is there anything about membership etc.? It's around the corner and i'm slowly feeding my daughters interest in rugby wherever I can :D

Excited for the season ahead. Great to get a preseason tour despite the weather in Valencia. New winger Ramirez Leandro looked very good against Landsdowne last week. Hoping to see our new 8 against UCD this Friday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,186 ✭✭✭Lost Ormond

Clubs charge around fiver/tenner a game. Just wander in. some are free in... trinity.

You can join as member which depends on club can give you a discount or something else for costs membership

some good signings for Lansdowne according to this match report https://lansdownerugby.com/st-marys-v-lansdowne-leinster-senior-cup/

You can view all the team sheets from Munster, Connacht and Leinster league games through the domestic fixtures section of the appropriate provinces website.

Yeah its been consistent so far this season. been hit and miss in past with sometimes team sheets appearing there and other times they didnt.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9 youvebeenrumbled

I heard Terenure played more or less their 1st team in the O'Shea grand final. Not great, while Lansdowne actually played there 2nds.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,799 ✭✭✭✭Pudsy33

It was definitely not the Terenure 1st team. One or two lads who'd have played some AIL last year at most.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,273 ✭✭✭Stainalert

Yea agree Boomer and Craig Adams and I think Huxford. Definitely not their 1st team

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 336 ✭✭luke9311

whats just about to say the same as stainalert and pudsy..... tbh i only recognised boomer really as a 1st team player and craig adams

36-28 to lansdowne in game v tarf tonight...... game could have went either way in the last few minutes with lansdowne down to 13 with two in the bin and then they scored in the last play of the game to close it out.

St Marys v UCD tonight 7.30pm KO

Highfield have conceded to Shannon in the Munster Senior cup, anyone know why?

  • Registered Users Posts: 636 ✭✭✭Chico Flores

    100% not the 1s

Few lads from 1s who needed game Time, plus given Lansdowne were also playing this week and we are off might have been a little weaker.

Boomer and Adams obvious 1s lads. Huxford will be there or there abouts but rest will be our J1s for the season

Clogher Valley are another to watch in 2C. Instonians only beat them 15-22 last weekend with lots of the big names playing for Instonians.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,186 ✭✭✭Lost Ormond

very much so. theyve been class in junior ranks past few years. seriously good forward pack. had 2 good wins in AI Junior cup over past few years

  • Registered Users Posts: 44 Deramore

Clogher Valley and Instonians probably the favorites in 2C and 2B? Corinthians will be tough when fully loaded with academy lads

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,186 ✭✭✭Lost Ormond

Corinthians will be tough regardless of any academy players. They went through a rebuild before covid and since and a lot of the young players have built up good level experience now. Theyve been in top 4 for last 3 years and will be there abouts again

Super game. As close as you can get. Just happy to get the win. Well played Terenure

  • Registered Users Posts: 636 ✭✭✭Chico Flores

Watched the game last night, was very enjoyable. Lansdowne very clinical and sharp.

We probably should have seen it out, but Lansdowne scored some absolute ripper of tries. Played at AIL intensity. We lacked a bit of experience from bench but good experience for the young lads.

    Sickened to have missed it!!

Went and watched Trinity vs Navan last night in College Park as a neutral.

Very entertaining and fiery game, Navan well worth their salt against a fully loaded Trinity side.

Trinity led 12-0 at HT in what was a very evenly matched 40 minutes before pulling away and winning 33-5. Good hit out for both sides before AIL begins next week.

Jersey reds have ceased trading according to their website in the news section and also it’s mentioned on sky sports…. A few ail players over there with them you would hope it gets sorted soon an investor to step in and save them from falling.
