24.7C at Valentia at 0200 UTC/0300 IST this morning is a record for that early in the morning for the station.

The previous was 23.9C on 19th July 2006 but that was mid-summer, this is early September!

Cloudy af in Dublin at the moment, hope it clears up

My car was the same. Am used to seeing that dust after rain in southern Spain. Great to get southern Spain here.😀 Sun breaking through now in Tralee and sky brightening considerably. I didn't find last night oppressive though the heat outside was really amazing. Loving it!

Where are you based? Sunny in St. James's Hospital all morning.

Shorts for the morning run at 630am.

16⁰ and deep red sunrise coming up at that time. Meath.

Dull last hour or so. Cloud trying to clear and see it hopegully pulling away on the radar.

Much cooler next week with a 17c 9c max min profile bang on average for September. Will bring down the average somewhat but a single warm spell between next week and the end would mean a high IMT. Nothing freezing frostwise on the horizon yet.

    Cloudy 19C.

I might try and cut the lawns this afternoon. The ground is drying up but the grass is still damp. And here's the sun.

Amazing variability over a short distance.

Drove up from Portlaoise this morning, 8am to 9.40. Temps varied from 18 -23c.

There could be a bad windstorm next week. Some models have it out to sea as a fish storm but some other runs bring it closer to us. It would be Orange level warning if it transpired but a lot of evolution between now and then so uncertain.

Brightening up again after a veil of cloud. Rainfall remains at 0mm on my rain gauge for September.

It's been a glorious few days here in Dublin, thankfully not too warm here overnight.

How come the grass is saturated every morning though despite the high temperatures?

You wouldn't get that in July with these temperatures?

The GFS is looking fairly unsettled after mid month too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,557 ✭✭✭Billcarson

I presume due to high humidity regarding the grass.

Cloudy in Sligo and its 24c ..on Friday it looks sunnier here. Could be a 28c somewhere that day. Sky trying to clear. We may get to 26c if it does. Keep forgetting it's September when it's meant to be 13c not nearer to 30c.

Next week Autumn will probably make it's return but we should get until Sunday/Monday out of the warm conditions. Yesterdays GFS 12z was a total outlier which wanted to continue the warmth and high pressure, at the moment it looks like low pressure and indeed the Atlantic will be back in charge from mid week next week onwards.

Still time for next weeks forecast to change to maybe something more settled still a possibility.

Weird day 24c but getting cloudier. We seem to fare well for temperature with a SE wind but bad for cloud. Often due to the warmth overland the cloud bubbles up as it heads to Sligo. Also often it misses the West and seems to take the N4.

Met Eireann have long spells of hazy sunshine on their forecast. We have a 10 minutes of sun today.

Just had a rain shower, 24c though

hasn't been great in Dublin. Even cloudier now and darker. Hopefully it clears up eventually.
