Revenue Audit

Hi All,

I present accounts for my Company January to December and now before 22nd of September 2023 will pay my Corporation tax for 2022.

Now, if I ever get a Revenue Audit for my Company how many years can they go back? Is it 4 years since the final date for presentation of Corporation tax or when.

Basically the year 2019 when will be gone for Revenue inspection and can get ride of my invoices?

Why they say you have to keep the records for 6 years when I read there it is a 4 year rule for the Revenue to be able to do an Audit.

I know for personal taxation the 2nd of January 2024 all related to year 2019 is gone except CAT but for Company taxation (VAT and Corporation Tax) when is going to be out of inspection considering there is no fraudulent claim?

No limit to the amount of years Revenue can go back in certain circumstances.

What are those circumstances? Fraud? I think when they meant fraud means a criminal act of stealing money not submitting wrong retunrs (I think)

I'm aware of the 6 year rule but do you have to keep physical paper records or will invoices / transactions on an accounts system and scans of any other paperwork suffice?

It doesn't matter, whether paper or electronic form. It just have to be properly archived so that the system of finding things is to be logical to the archiving principals.
