Amiko Mini Combo Problems

Hi all.

As per title, I have an Amiko Mini Combo box. There's a few in the house, and one of them has started acting up. It will just freeze and become completely unresponsive. The only way to get it back is to remove the power cable. Then sometimes it will take hours to turn on, perpetually showing "on" on the display, but never showing a channel. Has anyone any idea what could be causing this? Is it fecked?

That problem is beginning to happen with an old Mini Combo that I have. I have a feeling that it might have something to do with the SSD that I use for recording, but not sure. I tried a full factory reset but it hasn't helped. Think I might just buy a new one.

You could take out the SSD and attach it to a SATA cable in a PC and 'trim' it.
That might improve things ...... a guess.

Thanks Johnboy1951. I think that it might be due to the timeshift function filling up the SSD and then the box freezes:(

If they are mini combo extra then its the usual capacitor problems. Had this on about 100 boxes so far.

Thks, I dug into my pile of a/ c transformers and got a 12 v / 2 amp one - swapped it over and it did the job. ( is it me or is €20 for essentially a plug when VAT delivery are inc a bit steep …?)

Its not a plug its a PSU , or power supply unit that converts incoming AC 220v to 12v DC.

These can be either switched mode or linear , regardless , any cheaper and its a nasty , possible illegally configured, piece of dangerous chinese trash that can and have burnt down houses.

Keep a close eye on your " spare " for a while , make sure its not running too hot to touch. IF it is , replace it , the lads at freetv.ie have a no nonsense attitude as you can see from their videos , and they dont sell muck.
