NZ don't look like a Joe Schmidt coached team.

    Or maybe they do

    SHOW SOME REPLAYS!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,397 ✭✭✭GiftofGab

NZ gameplay = give the ball to Bartett + Barrett kick the ball

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,330 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

TV direction on replays is farcical. Hardly any replays being shown.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,177 ✭✭✭✭Sangre

if ref thought jordan was bumped why not a penalty to NZ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

Peyper once again proving he’s an absolutely shocking referee. Even by his own standards he has been horrendously bad today.

Birch is great , but the Ryan Tubridy is all dramatics

Awful from the All Blacks. Not at the races this half.

    What are NZ at there!?

Game over, I can't remember seeing such a "vanilla" New Zealand game before, take the tries at the start of each half out of it and this is a tonking.

Now we have to beat south Africa, pressure !!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,295 ✭✭✭ongarite

The bounce of the ball. You just can't wait for it like NZ did

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,220 ✭✭✭waynescales1

Yet another simple turnover for France, NZ have been absolutely dreadful second half. Were they in the French 22 even once in the second half?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,897 ✭✭✭TheRona

    That's that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,294 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Lucky bounce for France to seal victory, but they deserved it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,789 ✭✭✭✭BattleCorp

The ref certainly didn't favour France in this game.

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 8,142 ✭✭✭fitz

We win our pool and I reckon we'll dismantle this NZ side in a QF. They're mentally not at the races at all.

  • Registered Users Posts: 548 ✭✭✭MaddChris

Never thought I would see a NZ team completely devoid of ideas.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,897 ✭✭✭TheRona

It's only really their mentality in a bit over a month that matters.

If this was Croke Park, that conversion would be going to Hawkeye

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 10,735 Mod ✭✭✭✭aloooof

Must be the biggest group stage loss for NZ in a long time?

Edit: Correction. First ever loss in the pool stage.

This maybe the beer talking and Not relevant to this game, but have a nagging feeling we could loose to Scots, but Tonga beat Scots

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,330 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

That's some battering in the second half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,897 ✭✭✭TheRona

Good win for France. NZ were better than against SA, but still a lot of work to do.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,757 ✭✭✭sxt

What this NZ France game means is that Ireland have to win their group to avoid France in QF

    They've never lost a group/pool game before.

    So....... yes 😄

Great game, luv to see the ABs beat :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,789 ✭✭✭✭BattleCorp

It's the first time NZ have ever lost a pool game as far as I'm aware.

NZ were better than against SA, but I genuinely believed France were more likely to open them up.

    Your wrong.

Wrong to say he has standards.

He shouldnt be allowed near any important game that will be close because he will make a difference.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

Wouldn’t be afraid of playing that NZ team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,724 ✭✭✭✭thebaz

NZ were very poor in second half, would be confident of beating them if we can beat South Africa, beating France will be very tough, with that momentum

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,536 ✭✭✭touts

This French team is definitely the team to avoid. Well now we know what we have to do. Win the group or likely go home in the qtr finals again.

  • Registered Users Posts: 548 ✭✭✭MaddChris

Fair play. Thanks, we were all struggling with the maths on that one 🤣

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,818 ✭✭✭Eoinbmw

Puts the south African win over new Zealand into perspective! This All Black team is different, their bloody shite!

  • Registered Users Posts: 154 ✭✭magic17

Not sure what's going to be more difficult, playing France in France at a World Cup or playing a wounded New Zealand with pretty much a full month to prepare

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,605 ✭✭✭✭AbusesToilets

Hoping the temperatures will have abated come the SA. Looked absolutely draining out there.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,248 Mod ✭✭✭✭Cookiemunster

Great opening game. France will get player back, will get better and Dupont won't have such a bad game again. They totally deserved the win tonight. Although I'm amazed NZ came away with nothing.

Ireland need to win their group. We have no fear of NZ, but I would like to play the French.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,494 ✭✭✭FintanMcluskey

Exactly the type of mentality that will see us crap the trousers

The physicality of both those teams is worrying for us I think. They bring the power speed and the panache.

4 penalties all game from France is something we need to talk about - that is savage, if they keep that up they will be unstoppable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,503 ✭✭✭swiwi_

Best opening match in World Cup rugby history imo. NZ didn’t take their chances in the 1st 40 then reverted to the repetitive BB bombs which showed a total lack of game awareness. If you’re Irish you want nz and not France.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,900 ✭✭✭thomas 123

I think he’d a brilliant game, nothing stupid or selfish all game that I saw, no missed passes also. Don’t always need to snipe around rooks to have a great game as a scrum half.

  • Registered Users Posts: 923 ✭✭✭ujjjjjjjjj

Not particularly impressed with either side. New Zealand beaten up and physically blown away and France really only came good once the All Blacks were in full blown retreat but New Zealand so bad by that stage what can they take from it.

No way Ireland will fold against France like NZ did tonite.

    Bring it on.

Mind you would still prefer to beat SA and dismantle that Kiwi side in the qtrs....very poor side.

  • Registered Users Posts: 175 ✭✭noc1980

Ireland can be confident of beating NZ or France. They were both underwhelming. The only issue is the schedule. NZ will be well rested for the QF. What shape we'll be in after SA and Scotland in brutal conditions to end the pool will be key.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,639 ✭✭✭snotboogie

It’s 100% more difficult to play France, they were by far the better team tonight. Any talk about resting vs ZA has to be put to bed now, we have to try to win the group to avoid France at home.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,494 ✭✭✭FintanMcluskey

The confidence is reminding me of 2015 & 2019. Ireland just need to concentrate on Romania, neither NZ or France is a win for us at a canter.

Last time I read these type of comments early days WC, Japan gave us a trimming

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

    Dupont was ordinary.

New Zealand were even more ordinary.

And Scotland are waiting. I've got a very very bad feeling about that.
