    Literally just finished that mission.

You need to access a room with a computer, make sure you have a digipick.

That was the 2nd or 3rd junction box I went to though, not the 1st.

Ya and it just says "it’s locked and requires a computer." no idea where this computer is .

There's no computer, they are locked until it's time to use them. It sounds like a bug. Try reload a previous save I'd say.

Had to reload from 2 hours back, I can't even remember what it was I did in those 2 hours 😂

Jesus. Try switching on the auto save options. I've been lucky with bugs so far thankfully.

I never accessed a computer I think. There must be multiple ways of finishing that quest.

I've put in over 15 hours now and feel like I've actually done almost nothing out of all the places and things I've encountered.

Sometimes it feels like too much even, and I wonder how much is actually worth doing, especially when it comes to surveying planets.

One thing I dislike so far is how my spaceship feels surprisingly lifeless, which is pretty disappointing. There doesn't seem to be much reason to spend time inside, or interior customisation options (so far anyway). It's even worse than the settlements in FO4.

Overall though I'm very much enjoying it, I get very strong Oblivion vibes from it, which is one of my favourite all time games

Outpost building is where you get the building aspect. Not much interior design with ships, it's more about what your ship does rather than the interior in terms of ship design. Though there are customisation options there too (just not as in depth as the outposts), in the ship builder you can choose variants of ship interiors.

One additional point, you can place decorations you find in the world in your ship. Just pick them up and place them where you like.

I picked up contraband again without me knowing like a dumbass and had to reload a save as again there was a bounty on my head. Searched through my stuff and found it in the aid section. Once I knew where it was I successfully smuggled it into New Atlantis and got an achievement for doing so.

Did you have to buy any skills or anything in order to successfully hide it ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,309 ✭✭✭✭wotzgoingon

My ship has a concealed cargo hold. So I transferred it from me to the ships hold. The game knew I had contraband as it said so but they scanned and I got through and the achievement popped.

I have to be more careful about what I pick up as this was my third time getting caught with contraband. And each time I didn't know and once they scan you it's too late and all you can do is load up a older save.

Contraband has a yellow/orange icon next to the name.

    No FOV slider on PC🤡

What is Behesdas problem with FOV sliders in games, why can't they just have them!!

Played 2 hrs yesterday before it was just too warm to go on. Bit of a flat opening but was quite surprised about how responsive the movement and gun play felt. That's a first for a Bethesda game imo.

Shooting all the time without VATS in Faĺlout 4 just never felt great to me. Always felt like the inputs were being altered somehow, maybe a form of acceleration or some such but always felt clumsy to me.

I'll get a few more hours in tonight

    🤷‍♂️

Been playing via Xbox Cloud on SteamDeck and it runs great, feels responsive, looks great (as much as 720p can anyway!)

But I'm wondering are any of you playing it natively on SteamDeck? How does it run?

the worst game that bethesda made in my opinion

Yeah have to say I'm enjoying it, there is a lot of what seems like tutorial content / scene setting going on which I'm hoping stops soon.

If not I'll just break off and do some exploring.

I think the game does look good, in saying that it's crashed 3 times tonight, each time has been when I've idled at a dialogue option to say get a drink or just stretch for a minute. So maybe a bug they can fix.

I've settle on mostly medium setting except for crowd density and motion blur which I've set to low. 9700K is feeling the heat, big outdoor city areas are pushing up to 94% usage for 60fps. 3080 is fairing ok at these settings so far. I'm playing at 1440p and I feel like the cpu is the reason it's going to drop below 60fps in open areas. Other than that it's running OK.

Think I took the wrong initial traits but have spent a point in persuasion which I think is always worth investing in for these games

I have talked my way out of a few fights at this stage and also to either not pay them credits or pay at a reduced rate.

Even this early it's come in useful in two conversations, in Bethesda games I feel its always worth a point or two.

I took professor trait but looking back now I should have went combat or fitness, then could have specced into tech/science as needed.

All the crafting is pretty familiar to anyone who played Fallout i reckon. I like the way you can access ship inventory from vendors too. Makes it easier to just dump inventory on companions and the ship.

The persuasion system is very good. You really have to pay attention to the context and what you're saying. Sometimes choosing the riskier option is better than the options with more favourable "stats".

Just got to add decorations, I always forget that moving stuff around is possible in Bethesda games since it's never used as a quest mechanic

I also found that you can use your companions as crew members, and adding the Coe man bring this daughter along too, and she likes to talk, especially to her father. Which is exactly what I was looking for in trying to make the spaceship feel 'alive'. I'm sure it'll get repetitive at some point, and it's no rdr2 camp, but for for now it's really making a difference

You make build a ship that can hold a lot more people, if that's what you want. Stick to hiring named crew because an NPC called "Laser Specialist" probably won't give you the immersion you seek. The named NPC's all have some story to tell and have an actual personality.

This guy's take is pretty good. It goes for any game really.

there's an option to force enable rebar for 3080 cards and previous models from nvidia which gives about 20% improvement on fps especially in the cities.

there's a reddit section on it where they go into the checking the motherboard settings, gpu bios etc (if you bought a 3080 at launch) but mine was all good and I simply enabled it within nvidia profile inspector.

I'm doing a lot of walking on planets, walking to unknown locations.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,435 ✭✭✭✭Blazer

I just spent 3 hours mining ffs :D

Outpost building is addictive..and required if you want to build your own ships.

Also loving the crimson fleet undercover mission....gonna stretch that out for sure.

I'm just gonna play it away but definitely down the road I'll do a run through with no reloading....just play the game the way the dice falls no matter how hard it makes it..

I wasn't impressed with it at first but when I went back into it , it really sucked me in.

I'm 19 hours in and I feel like I have barely scratched the surface. I've done three of the main quests and a handful of side quests / activities. I'm sinking a lot of hours into exploring, I'm finding the whole survey thing a little addicting! I've only been to a few solar systems too, there is a long road ahead ...
