anti rugby the winner, shame on the referee - well done Fiji

That was Barnes 2007 incompétence. But probably worse. Wales were so cynical not to mention their “injuries”. If only he hadn’t spilled the ball with the line open.

Gutted for Fiji, they deserved that try.

    Fiji rode sideways.

those two chances they knocked on at the line will haunt them

Carley should be sent home after that, absolutely disgraceful.

Will the panel discuss the ref or avoid all controversy as usual?

Agree with this. despite the debate over ref performance, Fiji should look inwards after this result.

Fiji absolutely caused plenty of their own problems and made plenty of unforced errors.

But well....there will be a sour note over that game .

That's about as bad as I've seen it since Italy got shafted by Neville and Brace at Twickenham a few seasons back.

I dont get leaving botia on the bench istead of starting.

That was always a game fiji could have won and gone through, now they have to get something against australia.

Fiji need to work on their kicking out of hand off the tee. General game management.

But they were robbed tonight. I've never seen such biased reffing in any ball code.

Lucky Wales with regards to the yellow cards. They were just more efficient taking the opportunities that came their way. Showed nothing new today that would make you fear facing them.

Was a great chance for Fiji to make a quarters. Can still do it but will rue some of the botched chances this evening.

Liam Williams. Does he have any brain cells at all? He was the player who initiated the break inside their own 5m in the first half and then he kicks the ball away with 79 minutes gone. The fact it went straight into touch was the icing on the cake.

One of the worst refereeing performances I've ever seen.

But also, why would you continually choose to scrum every penalty when you're short on time and need 3 tries? It's baffling.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Whatever about Fiji making their own mistakes, that's bound to happen when they're playing uphill rugby. The pressure on them was immense.

Pressure that could have been alleviated with the awarding of the try prevented by a no arms tackle, or playing against 14 men much sooner.

Yes, they made mistakes but that's only half the story of that game. The other half is disgraceful officiating.

Wasted time on the conversion too. Their rugby smarts really continues to let them down at times.

Rob Kearney had the balls to say it.

Fiji, on their line, would've been treated utterly differently to Wales. You will never convince me otherwise.

World Rugby need to get a hold of all their elite referees and start fùcking cracking heads....blatant pro Tier 1 bias going on....

We need to be supporting teams like Fiji and the other Pacific Islands way more.....

What a breath of fresh air they are....

Absolutely, 2-3 min down the drain. And it has to be secured. And it wasn't as if they were using the scrums to spin ball wide quickly. They were just pick and go from scrums.

Itv briefly mentioning the ref performance. Hard to watch itv coverage with Thomas on the panel.

Fiji did not help themselves but the reffing was outrageous at times

Do it 1 more time and it’s a yellow.. few more times.. no yellow!

Check colour of jersey - no yellow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,078 ✭✭✭joseywhales

Sure they did but let's be honest, if they were disciplined they would be about 30 points better than Wales, as it was, with all their mistakes, they still should have won, you have to think there's some kind of unconscious bias there with those refereeing decisions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

They seemed to get startled by Carley telling them they couldn't dummy the tap and go for penalties and never went back to it again

    Alun Wyn sheepish.

You'd wonder about corruption there with that reffing setup.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,173 ✭✭✭✭Sangre

ITV relays on that great Josh Adam tackle makes it so clear that should have been a penalty against Wales for no release/hands over ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,627 ✭✭✭snotboogie

Radradra had a fair bit of work to do even if he made that catch, their 10 would have had a tough conversion too.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 27,188 Mod ✭✭✭✭Podge_irl

Looked like he would run in untouched and probably make it a good way to the posts to me. But sure it's all speculation at this point.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,710 ✭✭✭✭thebaz

It really is shamefull , I love rugby , but that level of biased officiating would not be tolerated in a football world cup , and people wonder why rugby struggles to thrive in more countrys.

Hope Australia beat Wales well and Fiji beat Australia and Wales go out. Unlikely with their BP etc.

Reese Zammit was on top of him, the bounce gave him a load of time to cover the ground. It was a poor pass.
