You can buy them, just not license or possess them. IE you can own them but have to store them in a restricted RFD or in another jurisdiction like Northern Ireland.

Gunship.ie has a selection of good quality revolvers for sale. With respect to choice and price it really does depend on how serious and precise you want to be. Cost usually equals quality but not always increasing precision. I've shot Arminius (HW 9) revolvers, they are similar in weight / style to S&W 17. In my hands they weren't as accurate (others may have different experiences) as the SW 17. I owed and shot Ruger Single six for 3 years, in my experience at best it was a 2 inch grouping gun at 15 meters . It was built like a tank and had several after market option that may have improved it's precision (bespoke cylinders & cylinder pins ets). However I sold it in favour of SW 617.

Moving up in price from 500 -900 to 1100 to 1700 comes the SW 17, 617, colt officer model match, Taurus etc. These (especially older models) are surperbly build firearms. Both the model 17 and 0MM are said to be capable of 1/2 inch at 25 yards. Personally I have never shot a OMM but have shot alot of model 17s and Taurus and own a 617. From a precision stand point, best I've achieved is approx 3cm At 25 meters off hand. The triggers on the older smiths are beautiful. If you get a chance to shoot one take it.

Next we move into the bespoke / high end revolvers 2000 - 4000 plus. (Merkle, Janz, freedom arms model 83/97 and Korth). I have only experience with Korths. Older models from the Ratzburg facility. These are expensive but a step up again in quality. Are they more precise? In my experience yes. However it's the law of diminishing returns. I know folks that shoot merkles and they are very complementary about them. Silhouette shooting in the states amost exclusively use freedom arms revolvers and they are prized for their accuracy. So there you have it.

Advice is worth what you pay for it, with that in mind, Go to the leagues / clubs and talk to the guys who shoot these firearms on a regular basis. Ask can you shoot them. Take your time and when ready take the plunge if you find one that appeals.
