A&E charges after being referred by VHI

    Hi,

My family attended VHI 360 Health Centre and they referred to A&E for further investigations. A&E did some tests and discharged home.

Do we expect €100 bill from A&E in this case?

I understand if your GP refers to A&E then there is no additional fee.

    Thanks

The VHI sould have given a referral letter when sent on to A&E. If so and it was presented to A&E there should be no charge

When is the money (including lost growth) Michael Noonan took in the Pension Levy going to be paid back?

Yes, VHI did provide a referral letter and it was shown at A&E.

    Thanks

Agree that a referral (presumably signed by a doctor) will incur no charge from A&E. But haven't they abolioshed that charge anyway?

Because nobody was paying it - and the cost of sending reminders and final reminders was such that it was probably cheaper to scrap it.

The A&E charge is still in place, it wasn't abolished.

The 80 euro per day inpatient charge was abolished after the last budget.

    Thanks all.

I will let you know if we do receive a bill. But hopefully not.
