Danny Masterson 30 year sentence for rape

Actor Danny Masterson (Hyde from That 70s Show) has been found guilty of raping 2 women circa 2003, and been sentenced to 30 years to life in prison.

Seems a very long stretch, the typical murder sentence in USA is about 25 years. Anyone following the case have any insights on how he received such a heavy sentence despite what appears to be rather flimsy evidence against him?

Looks like Russell Brand is next on the chopping block. When is this #metoo madness going to end?!

Are you seriously saying that justice for rape victims is "#metoo madness"?

    Flimsy evidence?

He was found guilty - where does flimsy evidence come into it? Who are you decide if evidence is flimsy or not? You didnt sit in the courtroom.

There are times to feel sorry for people, that they've hard a hard deal dealt to them.

This is not one of those times, not by a long shot.

It's two 15 year sentences running consecutively rather than one 30 year sentence. And the evidence wasn't flimsy, there were a lot of notes and records of accounts taken during internal Scientology reviews & interviews which formed a big part of the evidence. He was found guilty on two counts due to the amount of evidence.

30 years is serial killer territory. He hasnt committed any crimes in the 20 years since. Ashton and Mila seem to think he's a good guy. All things considered the sentence seems disproportionate, and perhaps reflective of a society where Leonardo di Caprio is getting called a predator for having a consensual relationship with a 19 year old.

Serial killers in the US aren't getting 30 years.

For example, Wheeler-Weaver in New Jersey got 160 years for 3 murders.

Masterson was proven guilty by evidence beyond reasonable doubt. 15 years for each rape is fair justice.

If anything rape is probably bloody worse than murder, the victims have to live with that kind of trauma for the rest of their lives.

Glad he was locked up, they should throw away the key.

No problem with him getting 30 years. If he can't do the time, don't do the crime. Simple as.
