Carers Allowance means test

Yes occupational pensions are taken into account. Almost every single source of income is taken into account. The disregard for a couple living together is €750 per week.

When you say that the means is 1035 you mean that the weekly combined income less 750 is 1035? Also, is the Carer older or younger then 66?

If the total of the weekly combined income is 1035 then you deduct 750 giving you 285. Then you can 1/2 that giving you 142.

Caring for a person when the Carer is over 66 with means of 142 approx will mean that the Carer will get a carers allowance of around 138 a week.

Is the Carer already a qualified adult on their partners SW payment? Or do they have a SW payment ( state pension either con or non con) of their own?

If they are then they can further 1/2 that amount of 138 again to €69. Still well worth having.

They will also get the Carers Support Grant of €1850 in June.

So they’ll continue getting 219 plus around 69 1/2 rate carers.
