N7 southbound junction 7 - 60kph sign

Is anyone else having this issue

when driving , my car highlights the speed limits on the dash. It does this using sensors to read the road signs as you pass them and highlights the speed limit accordingly.

I use a setting in my car which notifies me if I’m travelling over the the speed limit I think by 5kph.

the issue I have is when travelling southbound on the N7 they have a 60mph road sign at junction 7 which is tricking the car into thinking it’s 60kph on that part of the N7.

has anyone else experienced this .

I'd probably change to an older car with less technology.

If you've got that tech, you've got cruise control. That's a much easier way to control your speed. Especially on a motorway type road.

The 60 km/h sign is intended for the slip road at exit 7. There's a similar situation at the new exit 8 off the N11 at Kilmacanogue.

Perhaps it shouldn't be installed directly adjacent to the N7 to trigger those dash alarms from the speed sign recognition? Depends on the road manual, though can't see anyone caring enough to review it, if you contact the traffic department in the council.

If you have to be careful with penalty points, you should probably be happy with false positives ;)

Maybe too careful causing me to jump on the breaks when suddenly the speed limit changes from 100 to 60 on the same road with my dash lighting up.

Maybe I just find it odd that they have the sign on both sides of the exit but on is directly on the N7.

Start being more attentive yourself. The tools you are using appear to get confused. What if they misread a higher limit another time?

You're on the N7. The mainline speed will never drop to 60.

Again, set your cruise control or speed limiter to 100. If you got speed sign recognition you've got these.

I can see how the false alarm could be annoying

If you only use that stretch of road occasionally probably not so bad but every day could become irritating.

You shouldn't be in any more danger of points because of it
