Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Should of just gave Pepe a pay increase, whilst not on the level of Becker but he was so much more than Mingolet

An unnecessary VAR stoppage in the Everton game that a five year old could prevent.

    Goal stands 1-1

Nah, brilliant as he had previously been, Reina was rapidly dropping in quality and acted the absolute langer trying to force his move to Barca. It was the right time to move on from him. They just chose poorly in going for Mig.

Definitely wrong decision on Mingolet and then having to rely on karius for a CL final but I still feel Pepe would've been a better choice to hold onto till we found a proper No 1. IE Becker

Was about to post how easy Everton look to play through the midfield and you can see why they will be fighting relegation again...and they go on and score 2 goals. Still amazing that they find themselves in such a mess on the field and the worrying thing for them is it look positively rosy compared to their off field troubles. Not gonna say I am too bothered though.

There were plenty of keepers far better than Mig when we moved on from Reina - we just didn’t buy them. That was the mistake. Sure, Reina - even declining as he was - was still better than Mignolet, but it wasn’t an either/or, there was no shortage of great keepers out there if we’d gone for them and spent the cash, as we eventually did. Even aside from his waning abilities, Reina kind of made his bed with his Barca push.

Did not realise that Craig Bellamy is the assistant to Kompany at Burnley

IIRC that clip of Thiago & Nunez, he was translating the instructions for Nunez. I'm fairly certain that was mentioned at the time.

I don't think West Ham have ever had as good a team coming to Anfield. I expect they'll sit deep and play on the break. They've won some games while having very little possession this season. VVD & Konate will need to be on their game to battle with Antonio.

Hope to see this line-up (assuming TAA is still out injured)

    Alisson

    Gomez Konate VVD Robertson

    Szoboszlai Mac Allister Jones

    Salah Nunez Diaz

West Ham rotated a bit Thursday night too. One player that was missing was Bowen though, through illness. Supposedly has a late fitness test and him missing would be a big boost for Liverpool. He's a dangerous player to have to keep an eye on.

I feel West Ham will play the way I thought Villa would have against us a few weeks back, low block and hit us with pace from Bowen, Kudus, Antonio et al. Could be a very tricky game today. Early goal is huge.

WH set pieces are going to be critical for us today,JWP is in lethal form and some big targets to hit ,VVD+Konate could be very busy, still think we'll be too good for them but it won't be easy,2-1ill go for

Rumours its Jota Gakpo and Salah starting up front

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,110 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

    No Trent.

    Diaz Nunez Salah up front

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,694 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

Alisson, Gomez, Van Dijk, Matip, Robertson, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Jones, Salah, Nunez, Diaz

Subs: Kelleher, Endo, Konate, Gakpo, Elliott, Jota, Tsimikas, Gravenberch, Quansah.

And that is why you should never believe rumours....

Squad looks strong, thiago, taa injured, bajcetic not making the squad?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,199 ✭✭✭Talisman

The midfield feels light for playing an opponent that will hit on the break. Hopefully we score an early goal to settle things down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,743 ✭✭✭giveitholly

    Bowen starts for West Ham

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,800 ✭✭✭Ottoman_1000

Konate on the bench again, I'd have liked to see him start. Matip is very shakey so far this year...

West Ham with all the early chances.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,694 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

That was some save by Al. What a keeper

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,645 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

All over the place at the back, all down the RHS, fvckin Trent again, all his fault.

    What's that...? Oh...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,694 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

Antonio now. 2 great chances missed by the hammers. We're hopeless at the back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,694 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

Matip could do with staying back rather than popping up all over the Hammers half, at least till things settle a bit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,694 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

    Penalty!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,843 ✭✭✭dmigsy

Pen - Salah scores. Good play by Nunez and Diaz in the build-up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,645 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

That was all down to Nunez. Unselfish power run to create the penalty, and put through the net by Mo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,694 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

Nunez incredible in the build up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,396 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

That's great play from Nunez again and a stonewall pen.

Alison is the best keeper in the world. It's unbelievable how good he actually is.

We are the worst ball winners in the league, we never seem to win a 50-50, not even a 90-10 to be honest.

Very happy with the early goal.

    Stonewall pen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,694 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

I hate when Mo sticks it straight down the middle but love when they go in. What a player.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,661 ✭✭✭DJIMI TRARORE

That pen certainly tested the groundsmans net tying skills, never seen one hit so hard

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,122 ✭✭✭happyoutscan

    Nunez has some serious strength.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,396 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

Thought VVD could have gotten that on target.

West Ham doubling and tripling up on Diaz.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,694 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

VVD should have done better there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,490 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Dunno what jones was doing there, when McAllister laid ball off to him, Jones just stood there, and WH took it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,694 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

Diaz should have squared that for Darwin

I think Szoboszlai is trying to take the head off someone in the wall with the free kicks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,396 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

Mo needs to hit the target there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,694 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

Bowen causing us no end of hassle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,122 ✭✭✭happyoutscan

That was a serious piece of skill by Gomez a little while back. Not exactly sure I trust him to do it all the time but he definitely has it in his locker.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,404 ✭✭✭✭Vicxas

That was pathetic defending from Van Dijk

He should be stepping towards the ball and taking Bowens head off his shoulders with his clearance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,365 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

Need to talk about Van Dijk on that one. Awful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,396 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

    Great play but Jones offside.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,661 ✭✭✭DJIMI TRARORE

No surprise that wH score from a cross

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,396 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

    Good save on Nunez
