Racism and hypocrisy in ireland is mind-boggling, and then we are surprised when incident like protest outside dail happens.

Racism is dealt in ireland in a typical irish way, brush it under the carpet and pretend it never haqppened.

one black child, at gymnastic ireland's award ceremony in the national arena, was singled out and was not given her medal.

there is video of it tiktok/youtube.

Simple fact that, it was not even in the news for 18 months, just shows how racism is dealt with in ireland.

Now the video has gone public, Gymnastic Ireland still have balls to lie about it and posted statement that it has been dealt with. but her mother has said that was incorrect.

then here is Irish newspaper Irish Independent with a statement "The family initially spoke to the Sunday Independent last year but asked for no coverage at that time. ", yeah right, why somebody will contact you and tell you not to cover it.

The fact it, whole system is designed to cover up incident of Racism, the only way it canh be dealt with is through WRC/Labour court (whare decision maker(the judges) are ex union rep 🙄), where it is designed to discourage the victim and support the culprit.

A typicaL irish response is denial and calling it a mistake, what is a probability that out of 10/11 childs, there was only one black,she was singled out and was not given her medal.

If, this trend continues, there wil be more far right protest and you can keep dreaming about united Ireland, rather there would be black-live matter protest in future.

Could somebody explain what the racism actually was and why the kid wasn't given a medal? I'm sure they didn't say it was a race issue at the time. OP is so vague I can't find the story anywhere.

There was a similar case involving a school recently where the school choir was treated to an ice-cream for performing at a holy communion, a parent of child who wasn't religious and didn't perform at the holy communion didn't get an Ice-cream but somehow this was discrimination,

Its middle -upper mid class Irish that are doing that its more to do with elitism than racism, you'll see these people at hurling, swimming, rugby ect where they want there kids to be the "best" and only little timmy can win, they are the ones with the audis and big suv's and fancy house, and they meet with other like minded sorts nearly cornering sports events and shunning people they deem lesser than them in subtle sneaky ways.

But if someone they deem beneath them beats little timmy the dramatics and excuses are unbelievable they truly are disgusting people i feel so bad for the kids.

Ive witness these people at kids games screaming, insisting there child get everything and the under handed shady **** that goes on to give there little timmy the edge is sickening. Everything from decisions to there kids being picked constantly, its horrible to see but rife and in my opinion takes the joy out of sports for kids due to pressure put on.

Mid to upper mid irish are the worst breed of people on the planet.. cliquey, elitist people.

This is exactly the breed of people im talking about that was 100% racism/elitism and even the child alongside her knew it, only ran out of medals after skipping past her.

Go to your local Catholic school in suburban Dublin or the commuter belt, it's a rainbow of different skin colours. Go to the nearby gaelscoil and it's like Friday night at a kkk rally. The Irish have a great way of doing racism, always had.

I don’t know about racism here, the child was skipped, the child is black so it’s default racism??? I don’t know the motivation but on a human level and taking colour out of it all, I feel so sorry for that little girl, skipping her like that was just not right. Kids don’t deserve to be treated like that and that judge should take a long look in the mirror.

But they have the lowest levels of diversity and additional needs kids. It doesn't need a secret cabal to make it so and it doesn't take a genius to realise the the explosion in gaelscoils coincided with the explosion in immigration. As I said , the Irish are brilliant at doing subtle racism, they learnt it from the best (the Brits).

Hopefully Gymnastics Ireland get a international competition ban as it's a disgusting video and it's gone global now so the sweeping it under the carpet won't work.

'Lessons will be learned', won't work in a global context so a ban might put manners on the woman responsible for this act of ignorance.

Watch the video shes looking right at her, sorting the medals, then moves to the next girl and gives it to her instead, you d have to really want to excuse her to say she didnt see her. Whether it was racism or not can be argued but it was certainly deliberate from what ive seen when it comes to the mid upper class in ireland there is a strong undertone of favoritism in sports.

Every gaelscoil I know has ASD units and kids from different backgrounds and special needs outside of autism, it's more down to a case immigrants putting their children into English and non denominational religious educations ,

English being the key word for them

Very deliberate. I can't think of an innocent reason that doesn't by necessity involve racism. The favorite one I heard was "maybe she didn't see her" -- inherently racist, the adult is incapable of identifying black faces, is she no better than facial recognition software? Did she think that the stadium lighting was just really poor in that one human shaped spot?

What you know matters not as the numbers don't lie. Gaelscoils have become more popular yet the levels of everyday spoken Irish don't reflect this. So parents are choosing this medium for other reasons. Can't have Sorcha and Tadgh mixing with precious and prince.
