Current setup

I have 2 cables coming from a wideband LNB on my sky dish to my Sky Q box

What I want to do

Operate a sky box and a freesat recordable box from a quad-lnb on the same satellite using the 2 existing cables. Plan is to re-route one of the cables inside the house to the freesat box.

In a past rental home the below product, or something very like it, was able to split 2 satellite signals that were being carried on one cable for use on a sky+ box

My question

Can I buy 4 of these products, two for the satellite dish end which will each combine two signals into a cable resulting in 4 signals across two cables. One of these cables is for the sky q and the other for the freesat box. The freesat and sky q will have the other 2 splitters which will split the 2 signals on one cable to two separate cables?

I think you can split a wideband LNB feed, you'd need to ensure that you have one of each feed going to both boxes. Unlike traditional (enhanced/universal) LNBs there's no band switching on wideband so I don't see why it wouldn't work.

So what I'm looking to do is combine the 2 feeds into one cable and split them at the other... I know it's possible as I've seen it being done before, I'm just wondering if I have the correct product for it

No, you can't merge into one cable and split back out to two; you'd have to keep it in two separate cables at all times.

You could do it with a dSCR multiswitch (some support wideband LNBs) which would just use a single cable. But you'd also need a compatible receiver.

if you get these you will be able to do it

I have single cables in all rooms, and connect the combiner in the attic and replace the face plate in the room, they work a treat and cheap as chips

No, this won't work with wideband feeds. Both polarisation feed must be kept separate all the way from the LNB to the receiver.

Two options that I can think of are the dSCR multiswitchs mentioned above that combines both feeds (+ Saorview if required) onto a single cable (single cable routing SCR) to a compatible dSCR receiver like SkyQ and the new Freesat boxes. Receivers have to be switched to SCR mode in the settings.

The other option would be a wideband splitter to feed the 2 receivers with 2 cables each, discussed here previously.
