I was throwing a few pieces into a hurling thread , but got little engagement, so i thought of starting a thread just for Camogie around the country.

A bit of news from Kilkenny - Peter 'Chap' Cleere named as manager of Kilkenny senior team - he has previously managed junior hurling and Carlow Senior camogie

Tullaroan Vs Windgap - in Dunnamaggin - Could be close, Windgap a better team overall, but struggling to click but should have enough to go through.
B Rangers Vs J Stephens - in Tullaroan - Another close one? Two teams that everyone else would want to play in the Semi. Some outstanding players on both sides, but not strong overall. I think the Village might do it.
Piltown Vs Clara - in Graignamanagh. Piltown should have too much for Clara. Amy Shorthall got 5 goals vs Conahy, but will be marked a bit tighter by Piltown. Will Aoife Doyle be back? Piltown to win
Dicksboro V St Brigids - in Jenkinstown . Only one winner here? Brigids will be tough, but wont stay with the Boro.

It will be interesting to see how the ideas fare out.
the 'mark' is an interesting one... Will the mark be for both teams?
If a Tipp player catches the ball from a Cork puckout in the air 50 yards out, will she then get a mark (free unopposed strike at goal?) .
Will it be struck from the hand ?
Its a great incentive to win your own puckouts in the air more than ever ..

"Ladies football has stolen a march on camogie," she suggested, "and it is the more popular sport in terms of mass participation because it is an easier game to play.
"I think the Camogie Association needs to look at the bigger picture here because we need all the players we can get. We are being very naïve if we're shutting out our dual players.
"If I had known at 12 that I could go to Australia to play AFLW on the back of playing inter-county football, or gone to rugby sevens like Louise Galvin and had that professional career, I would have considered giving more interest to Ladies football over camogie.
"Opportunities for camogie players are low on the ground. The more negative we are about our younger players, they're going to go to play football."

I dont know what county you are in, but in Kilkenny, i dont think that would be the case.
GF is definitely a 2nd place to camogie , and maybe even third behind soccer at this stage .
theres 10 clubs (?) that play GF underage in Kilkenny, only one in the South , and Kilkenny City incorporates all the girls from the City whos clubs dont 'bother' with Gfootball.
8 clubs play minor, (using lots of U16s) and then after that theres no next step club wise -
5 clubs (2 in Muckalee!!) play Adult football ..
Theres as many 'walkovers' given as matches played.
They have underage GF teams in Leinster underage 'blitz' and these teams get routinely beaten out the gate by the likes of Kildare, Meathe , Offaly etc.
They restarted the 'senior' ladies team this year , and they also got beaten well in each game. Although they do have a Laois man in there for next season, so that might improve.

Also Kilkenny County board AGM coming soon with only one change to personnel mooted so far.
