I suspect PropJoe that what he is doing isn’t for the sake of converstion, like most us here, but for the sake of self-affirmation. Without this, a person like this might have to come to terms that their political (and possibly personal) life has been built upon the facade of a man who despite all of advantages of birth and even gaining the highest post in the land, is still lampooned as one of the most hated losers of the 21st Century.

A poster like this must declare this man to be «respected», because the truth would be devistating if allowed into their mind. They must declare everyone else «cultists» because they know without that they might have to actually defend a position that they often know is indefensible. And finally they must post in hope of finding a kindred spirit to reaffirm together with. We know there’s at least one other, with drive-by guest posters, and creating a supportive echo chamber is an escape from a world that so often proves them wrong.

Just to be pedantic. Trump has already lost the fraud case. He has been found to have committed fraud. This case that we are seeing now is solely to work out the level of damages payable.

I wonder do the trump supporters here realise that they're effectively committing a type of Cunningham's law?

So by coming out with wildly ridiculous statements that have no relationship with actual fact (or even supported by citation) like 'trump is well respected on the world stage', and consequently being handed their arses back to them, through verifyable sources, that those staements are completely without any proof.

In the same way, 'the best way to get the right answer on the internet is not to ask a question; it's to post the wrong answer.'

Keep it up lads, you're doing fantastic work!

I really don't think that any of them are interested in politics or Trump or Cunninghams' Law (thanks for that btw, I had never heard of it but it is absolutely true). If they were they would have coherent arguments, some verifiable facts and figures, some appropriate quotes and citations.

But they have none, I would be interested to hear actual arguments, there has to be some reason why so many people follow him. I find it deeply disturbing that there is a body of people who appear to genuinely think that Trump is the ultimate leader, it is worryingly like the situation in Europe prior to 1939. Though even Hitler could speak in complete and superficially rational sentences.

You’d wonder how things might play out if the Trump Org. and any source for cash to Trump is dried up by this, leaving Donnie without a serious source for income? His grifts alone won’t keep the lights on and certainly won’t pay for legal defence. How would the GOP cope with a candidate whose too broke to cover any costs for campaigning, and has likely pissed away the war chest on legal fees? (Apparently the RNC budget itself is in a bad way due to legal fees too)

That won’t stop him from trying to “Truth” his whole campaign from his phone, but what state might he be in by next summer? Will the collapse of his empire be the images we see in the run up to the election?

He’s likely prepaying for legal council given his history with not paying bills after the fact.

If he runs out of the cash needed for that he’ll be down to whatever MAGA activist will be willing to do the legal work for the clout alone. Such a pool of “talent” would likely result in more instances of dimwits not knowing how to fill out court forms correctly and make the already difficult job of defending Trump damn near impossible.

Any president that repeatedly blurts out nuclear secrets is going to be very popular overseas, all the tinpot dictators will have been queuing up to get a Trump visit. Set up a room with some hidden microphones, stroke his ego a bit and let that classified info flow.

We know popular isn't the same as respected, but the morons don't know that.

    "Blurting out nuclear secrets repeatedly"

Never happened^ Building historic relations overseas and brokering peace deals all over the ME is something to be mocked and laughed at? Crazy claims like that is why so many have disappeared down a rabbit hole of their own making which there is no coming back from. Nothing here is based in reality. Its all make believe hypnotics designed to pander to anti Trump hysteria. By comparison , how is Trump's foreign policy worse than Bidens? There's no answer , because it isn't.

Trump was hard on Iran , Biden was soft. Now everybody knows who is the bigger failure on the world stage.

And while the president has been eager to criticize a range of his predecessor's policies, he is fully embracing one key pillar of Donald Trump's Middle East policy — the Abraham Accords. Those deals were brokered by the Trump White House in 2020 to normalize relations between Israel and a number of Arab countries, including Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Morocco.

Kind of speaks to my earlier point in a way.

"Everyone knows who is the bigger failure on the world stage" Everyone does know who, but not in the way a MAGA sycofant would expect.

"Everyone knows...." I feel this is a core part of the motivation of a pro-Trump poster. They probably really wish that the "Everyone" in that "Everyone knows..." had actually included more than the very limited cohort that you'd find on an Irish discussion board, or frankly anywhere with a decent grip on reality. It must be frustrating and lonely to find oneself boxed into a position that can only be defended by empty talking points and likening anything in a worse than mediocre Presidential term as "historic".

There is a deep seated wish for company in statements that include "Everyone knows..." and unfortunalty for a commited member of MAGA, that wish is not likely to be fulfilled.

    "Burty330 - Never happened^"

How can you possibly know this? What we do know is he held secret meetings with Putin where he allowed no US people to attend and never produced any notes. We know he gave Israeli security details to Russian diplomats in the WH, where he didn't allow US reporters but did allow Russian.

We know that he sided with Russian over his own security services. We know he not only took classified documents but showed them to visitors to Mar-a-Lago. We know he kept hundreds of classified documents in unsecured areas of Mar-a-Lago. We know he doesn't keep tabs on everyone that visits him in Mar-A -Lago.

We know, from his press conferences, that he will often talk about what was talked about in official meetings. We know he loves talking about how great the military is, and he sees it as an extension of himself.

But you are 100% certain that you know he never let any military secrets slip out?

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,439 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

    It did happen, many times.

The rapist Donald Trump is the greatest security threat the United states has faced in decades, simply because he cannot stop stealing and then disclosing classified information.

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,423 ✭✭✭✭everlast75

The only thing we do know is when this is invariably proven to be true, his supporters will simply drop the topic and move on to the next denial.

Normally, folk would accept they were wrong, and perhaps be more selective about believing the next set of excuses or lies. But nope - screw logic, screw changing my support, let's defend this thing... until we can't and then let's defend the next thing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,423 ✭✭✭✭everlast75

So, "Biden kept documents too, so Trump did nothing wrong" is a common refrain from MAGA supporters.

Turns out Biden sat for a deposition for two days.

    Anyone spot the difference??

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,697 ✭✭✭Flaneur OBrien

Do you accept he’s a rapist?

If so, can you explain how you can put that aside and still support him?

If you don’t accept he’s a rapist, he has been found liable for sexual assault. Do you believe that he did commit sexual assault?

If so, can you explain how you can put that aside and still support him?

If you do not believe he committed sexual assault, even though a court found him liable, what would it take for you to believe he broke a law?

This can be answered by any of the MAGA heads here. @Snake Plisken @MisterAnarchy etc.

More evidence of trump's bullsh!tting laid bare in court

When Donald Trump needed to value his Trump Tower apartment for homeowner’s insurance in 2010, he personally showed an appraiser around the unit for 15 minutes but ushered him out before the expert could take any measurements. Trump’s company then declared that the 11,000-square-foot unit measured 30,000 square feet, nearly three times its actual size.

A few years later, expert appraisers told Trump his 70-story office building at 40 Wall Street in Manhattan, steps from the New York Stock Exchange, was worth $260 million. But Trump soon claimed in financial documents that it was worth nearly $530 million, more than doubling its value.

In 2018, while he was president, Trump’s company cited a seasoned New York valuation expert to claim in its financial statements that Niketown, a luxury retail store adjoining Manhattan’s Trump Tower that has since closed, was worth $445 million. The expert later told investigators he’d provided no such input and Trump’s process to arrive at the figure didn’t “make any sense.”

Those details are drawn from thousands of pages of court documents prepared by New York Attorney General Letitia James as evidence in the fraud case she has filed against Trump. The documents show how accounting, banking and real estate experts repeatedly informed Trump how much his properties and businesses were really worth. But over and over again, the documents reveal that Trump, his adult sons and top executives allegedly ignored or sidelined those experts, exchanging their figures for numbers from another source: Trump’s own intuition.

Over more than four decades as a developer, Trump — now the leading candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination — has routinely exaggerated how much he and his assets are worth, while minimizing or omitting liabilities and debts. These self-aggrandizing boasts were central to the reputation he cultivated as a real estate mogul.

The civil trial against Trump’s business that on Tuesday enters its second week threatens to reveal the internal workings of Trump’s business in never-before-revealed detail. James, an elected Democrat, and her team arrived at trial armed after having reviewed millions of pages of documents about him and his company, a trove of legal ammunition that will be detailed in court in coming weeks.

Trump has called the James case “a pure witch hunt with the purpose of interfering with the elections of the United States of America.” His lawyers have said the company’s practices were not illegal.Trump attorney Christopher Kise told the judge last week that “there was no nefarious intent” in putting company statements together, and subsequently there “was no illegality, there was no fraud, there are no victims.”

James’s office has been investigating Trump’s business for more than four-and-a-half years, using a team of lawyers and forensic accountants to acquire documents through subpoenas to his company, banks, insurers and business partners, many of which would otherwise have remained confidential.

The attorney general’s team by the time the lawsuit was filed interviewed 65 witnesses, including his adult children and nearly all of his closest business confidants.

That includes individuals with knowledge of intimate details of his business who managed to remain out of the limelight during Trump’s presidency, but who were compelled to provide lengthy depositions for the first time in the case and are now prepared to testify against him and his company during the coming weeks and months.

The case is expected to feature Trump’s own testimony. Attorneys on the case will also point to a deposition Trump sat for after initially avoiding questions by invoking his Fifth Amendment right not to answer questions for fear of self incrimination more than 400 times, using it for every question.

“Appraisers are right and wrong. Everybody knows that,” he said during an April session with James’s office, according to a transcript of the deposition filed with the court. He then defended making estimates based on gut instincts.

I’ve seen Maga say he brought peace to the whole of the Middle East and there was no fighting during his 4 years as president.

It’s very worrying how they believe things that are complete lies.

You will be waiting a while for a reply from Snake as he is thread banned and I'm not a MAGA supporter so you will have to ask someone else I'm afraid.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,531 ✭✭✭eightieschewbaccy

As a "centrist", do you accept that he's a rapist? Do you think there's something morally questionable about voting for a person like that?

  • Registered Users Posts: 82,433 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

Not a MAGA supporter? Apologies so.

In that case, as an anti-democrat, do you accept Trump is a rapist?

If so, as an anti-democract, do you have an idea how people can put that aside and still support him?

If you don’t accept he’s a rapist, he has been found liable for sexual assault. Do you believe that he did commit sexual assault?
