Great Game, the first 10 minutes aside, the second Waterford pen looked soft, parson was looking to go down before he went into the box...both of success' goals were brilliant...very disappointed with the attendance, due to work I've not been able to get to games on Fridays since before CoVid really

    Cobh 1-0 Treaty

Cobh grabbed a very very late victory in a fairly entertaining game.

It started evenly enough but Treaty got the better of things midway through the first half and were the better side without creating anything really clearcut. The closest we came was when Edogun wriggled a yard of space and crashed a shot against the crossbar, with the keeper's fingertips making the difference.

It was more even in the second half, again without any great chances. Cobh forced a couple of good saves, as did we, and we hit the post again with a low shot from Colin Barry. In injury time it was real end to end stuff, and unfortunately, Cobh were the ones who found the net, with a back post header from a deep corner in the 95th minute.

Harsh on the team after a solid performance, but that's how it can go. The playoffs look ever more unlikely.

Next game: home to Wexford, Friday September 8th, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 1-2 Wexford

    (O'Riordan)

I was ont on the town in Glasgow so only got goalscoring updates for this on.

We went ahead from Ben O'Riordan just before the break, and even though Corey Chambers saved a penalty around the hour mark after Lee Devitt received a second yellow, Wexford scored 2 in 10 minutes later on, so that's more or less that in terms of the playoffs - not that they mean all that much anyway.

Next game: away to Bray, Friday Septmeber 15th, 7.45pm.

    Bray 2-2 Treaty

    (Edogun, Walsh)

We needed a late late leveller tonight, despite leading for much of the game.

We were ahead early on through a long range screamer from Success Edogun, who's making something of a habit of that. We had other chances as well, and a disallowed goal, but Bray were creating chances also, especially as the half wore on.

Their pressure continued to build in the second half, with Chambers making good saves, but they scored two goals in 4 minutes late on. Two similar goals, with attackers being slipped in behinds the defence to finish.

We pressed late on, but it looked like we'd leave with nothing, until Mark Walsh pupped up to head home in the 94th minute to grab a point.

Next game: home versus Athlone, Friday September 22nd, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 4-1 Athlone

(Ludden penalty, Edogun, Cristopher x 2)

A red card changed everything in Limerick tonight. Athlone had started well and went 1 up with a header from a corner (which Treaty had conceded in dreadful fashion with passing around the back going over the endline). But 10 minutes later an Athlone player handled a goal-bound header on the goalline, earning himself a red card and giving away a penalty which Ludden converted.

We had much the better of things for the rest of the game, and created plenty of chances, the best of which in the first half was Dean George hitting the crossbar. In the second half, after an even enough opening 10 minutes, we were ahead when Edogun jinked himself a bit of space in the box before finishing low to the keeper's right.

Athlone were stretched and exhaused, and we added two more late on as they fell apart at the back. Twice, Stephen Cristopher was in the right place to place cool finishes beyond the keeper, one into each bottom corner.

A comfortable win that hinged on the early red. We are not going to make the playoffs, and for good reason, but still, nice to get the win.

Next game: away to Longford, Saturday September 30th, 7.45pm.

    Longford 2-3 Treaty

    (Barry x 2, Lennon)

It looked like a dull enough first half, with Treaty edging things but failing to create anything clearcut, but the second half was a bit of a thriller.

We went ahead after hard work from success Edogun was rounded of by Colin Barry's first goal for the club, but Lonford were level just 5 minute later. We went back ahead when Dean George attempted a spectacular volley but his skewed effort ended up being the perfect cross for Adam Lennon to head in at the back post.

It looked like we'd sealed things when Barry scored again, after being set up by Lennon following more work by Edogun, but Longfor kept going and hit the crossbar twice before pulling one back with 3 minutes to go, but we held on for the win.

It moves us to 6th in the table, and although we're only 5 points behind Athlone and there's 3 games remaining, two are against Galway and Waterford so the chance of catching them is slim, though we've a decent shot of 3 points next week.

Next game: home versus Finn Harps, Friday October 6th, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 2-0 Finn Harps

    (Ludden penalty, George)

We keep our faint playoff hopes alive tonight.

There was nothing much happening in the first half. Harps created very very little, while both Edogun and George blazed over from decent positions for us.

We got the better of things in the second half, and Ludden put us ahead from the spot after Dean O' Shea (I think) had been upended in the box. Harpc continued to offer very little, and we made it 2-0 when Dean George glanced a near post corner into the far bottom corner. We looked the more likely to add to it, and Edogun came close, but it was always very comfortable. Athlone lose so we're still in it, mathematically at least.

Next game: home to Galway, Friday October 13th, 7.45pm.

Just heard that on Newstalk, but also referenced that it was from https://www.the42.ie/treaty-united-takeover-6185102-Oct2023/

Strange one, as not exactly any assets to strip and very few have ever made any money out of LOI without being in European competitions, and that would require serious investment.

'Welcome to Limerick, Kid' on Disney or Netflix, although might be more HBO style. 😀

If they’re happy to even put a bit of money in it could be huge!

on a shoestring the club has punched shove it’s weight, the possibilities if you throw in a bit of money!

If it's true all I can think of is they either realise that you could take a team very far with relatively tiny money or that they are getting involved in other projects in Limerick and this is PR. Similar to the amount of sponsorship UPMC suddenly put around Limerick as they moved in.

Do Treaty fans now get to dress up similar to the Man City "arab" fans.

Confirmed this morning. There'll be a press conference next Tuesday.

Treaty United FC Acquired by Exciting New Partnership Led by Incoming CEO Ciara McCormack

Treaty United FC is proud to announce that former Republic of Ireland women’s international and current Treaty United FC player Ciara McCormack has acquired the Limerick-based club in partnership with a Canadian-based investment group led by Tricor Pacific Capital Inc. With this acquisition, Ciara will become the first female co-owner and CEO of a men’s and women’s club in the League of Ireland and will be focused on building a club that serves as a proud pillar of the Limerick community and competes at the top of Irish football for generations to come.

Treaty United FC was founded in 2020 to bring League of Ireland football back to the Mid West. The women’s team began playing in the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division in 2020, followed by the men’s team securing a licence to participate in the SSE Airtricity Men’s First Division in 2021. Treaty United FC is the only professional football team in the city of Limerick and deeply values and respects its role in developing and supporting players in the community. The new ownership group plans to invest in revitalising and professionalising the club, with the goal of creating a sustainable and inspiring club that will be highly competitive with both its men’s and women’s senior teams and will be a leader in youth player development in Ireland.

Since 2020, the club has been led by the Board of Directors with incredible support from a network of volunteers, part-time coaches and buoyed by a supportive fan base. The introduction of new ownership will only serve to strengthen and build on these existing community bonds and capitalise on opportunities to build a stronger, sustainable, and more impactful club. The new ownership also wishes to express gratitude to the League of Ireland for their support on this acquisition and look forward to being collaborative partners within the Irish football community.

Ciara McCormack, 44, is an accoladed footballer who joined Treaty United in 2023. She has eight caps for the Republic of Ireland women’s team and was a UEFA Women’s Champions League finalist. Ciara has a long history playing professional football in five different countries. She is also a prominent advocate of safe sport and will combine her expertise in both football and business to lead Treaty United FC as CEO. Ciara is a graduate of Yale University and has a Master’s in Sports Management from the University of Connecticut. She is also the owner of TOPP Soccer, a US based organisation that helps high school players win university scholarships through the events TOPP organises throughout North America.

Ciara’s wealth of experience will be enhanced with strong Limerick football voices through the continued leadership of Tommy Barrett as coach of the senior men’s team, alongside former Republic of Ireland International player Marie Curtin who will continue to lead the U17 Women’s team. Sean O’Brien, a founding member of Treaty United FC and current Director of the club will provide continuity in governance on the Treaty United FC Board moving forward.

Ciara McCormack, Co-Owner/CEO at Treaty United FC, said: “As someone who was given an opportunity to represent the Republic of Ireland internationally, I couldn’t be more grateful to give back and build something special for the next generation of players in the country. With deep gratitude and acknowledgement for the immense work that’s been done by the volunteers and Board of the club in the last three years, combined with my partners from Tricor Pacific Capital, I am delighted, proud and excited to advance Treaty United FC forward both as a Football club and as a key contributing member of the Limerick Community. We aspire to be a club that everyone in the Mid West can be excited to be a part of and get behind.”

The club has been acquired in partnership with Tricor Pacific Capital, a family office out of Vancouver BC, Canada. Tricor’s stated mission is “to build winning partnership in pursuit of shared dreams we can all be proud of” and this is a perfect example of standing behind that intention. Ciara approached Tricor with her vision of owning a club that could create a lasting community impact. As long-term investors with a successful track record of leading great businesses over several decades, Tricor is aligned with Ciara’s vision and believes deeply in the potential opportunity for Treaty United and the City of Limerick. Tricor will support and enhance the governance and strategic direction of the club together with its leadership and local management team.

Shawn Lewis, CEO, Tricor Pacific Capital, said: “Tricor is incredibly proud to be partnering with Ciara to make a long-term investment in Treaty United FC. We look forward to working closely with the League of Ireland and the Limerick community to build the club and see it become a thriving organization that will inspire the many generations of footballers to come.”

All media enquiries should be directed to info@treatyunitedfc.com.

A press conference will be held in Limerick on Tuesday October 17th at 1130am (venue TBC). Please save the date. Official Press conference invite to follow.

Outside of McCormack as the face of the deal the only link I can see that would have brought them to Limerick is the funds "senior corporate account" who went to UL and worked for Fexco in Shannon.

    Treaty 1-4 Galway

    (Walsh)

Only getting updates from twitter, and it sounded comfortable enough for Galway. They were 1 up within 5 minutes and 2 up at halfime.

We pulled one back through a Mark Walsh header, just after the hour, but they restored their 2-goal lead soon after, and added another late on.

Athlone lost, so we are still mathematically in with a shout of the playoffs, as we head into the final game of the (regular) season.

Next game: away to Waterford, Friday October 20th, 7.45pm.

    Waterford 2-0 Treaty

Our seson comes to an end down in the RSC.

The first half was even enough in miserable, slow conditions, and we had the best chance not long before half time when Dean George headed over when he really should have done better.

They took the lead early in the second half with a lovely shot from a corner, and though we battled gamely, we struggled to create much. One Ludden dribble and low cross that needed a last ditch block was as close as we came. We pressed, and we were stretched at the back, and they exploited this right at the death, with Chambers being beaten to a through ball and one forward generously set up another to tap into the empty net, with the final whistle going just second later.

We finish the season in 6th, 1 spot and 3 points outside the playoffs.Athlone took a point from their game so it wouldn't have mattered anyway unless we'd won by about 8 goals. Disappointing not to make the playoffs, but we're not really a match for the teams above us anyway, and the whole division is getting worse and worse.

Hopefully, with this new investment, we'll be more of a force next season.

Did that press conference happen, what else did they say?

  • Registered Users Posts: 210 ✭✭YTM

Couple of bits from the press conference is that Tommy Barrett is to remain in charge. Next season they'll continue to play as Treaty United for the 2024 season and in the Markets Field but a name change may happen after next season.

Focus in year one is a move towards professionalism. Marie Curtin whose the COO talked about how the senior teams only train twice a week atm. So likely to try get that to three or four times a week next season.

Limerick Leader had an interview up on it's website with McCormack. www.limerickleader.ie/video/sport/1325277/watch-new-treaty-united-ceo-and-co-owner-ciara-mccormack-on-the-future-of-the-club.html

Disappointed by the number of players that have departed, as I would have expected as many as possible to stay if they could see improvements coming.

New CEO/Co-Owner comes across as a bit of a fool on Twitter

I see there she has herself down as a player but another player has first-hand said to me that she doesn't train/play with them at all.
