I'm having no real problems following it at all. I admit the episode recaps are very much a requirement, but once up to speed I find it very good.

Has this disappeared off the RTE player in the last 24 hours for some reason?

I watched the first two episodes last night - went to catch up on the third just now, and when I search the title it's just giving me random other series (it was the main highlight thumbnail last night when I opened the player).

Bizarre - still nothing showing on the website on the laptop.... it's showing on the app on my phone, alright, but that's too small to be watching on.....

I've checked and the VPN is off, the site is whitelisted on my adblocker..... very strange!

    Oh well.

I thought he shot her in the head, regarding this weeks ending i the bet the gun will get jammed or something

Is the guard gay and trying to get in with the tech guy ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,023 ✭✭✭Princess Calla

    No , I don't think so anyway.

The guard opened the email that released the malware . The tech guys hr file was then hacked, giving his name address etc so guard is feeling really guilty and trying to make up for it.

    That's what I think anyway.

That's my interpretation of it too, just guilt, as he heard him puking in the toilet after finding out so he knew the other lad was badly affected by the hack of his details

A lot of what happened in last nights episode just didn't seem very realistic.

I just love love love how the European officers can switch between languages like its nothing at all.

I'm aware that languages are taught in European schools but that kind of fluency never fails to stagger me.

    Mmm Christian speaking French !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Note that the Belgian from Charleroi spoke in French, expecting the Flemish officer to be able to use it. I wonder would that have worked the other way around.

But in general, in Netherlands or Flanders the TV is subtitled rather than dubbed, so people do hear a lot of English outside of school lessons.

The last time I was in Belgium they have the programme about Dublin Zoo on TV, so even the Irish accent would be familiar.

The ex is about 10 years her junior

Does anyone else think that Noone's character was much more Americanised this week (staccato speech like the US cop shows) than in previous episodes?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,066 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Jesus they didn't rush themselves in the ICU anyway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,701 ✭✭✭✭Galwayguy35

If there was more of Christian and less of that shower of dopes from CAB in the episode it would be a lot better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,613 ✭✭✭✭AndrewJRenko

Just all seemed very dank and dark this week - no smile or laugh or humour.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,701 ✭✭✭✭Galwayguy35

Ah balls they killed off the best character in the show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,066 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Decent finale and wasnt expecting that death

Decent finale, I didn’t expect that and now we know he was actually doing a good job !!!!

Poor Christian, I thought the Blondie Belgian cop had cottoned on to the police mole last week, but nope. A bit contrived that.

Nora finally got out of the office, the country and got loads of Irish tax evaders, so not a bad series for her at all.

So the big question is - will there be a third series? I didn't think this series was brilliant, but it would interesting to see what they could do next time around.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 434 ✭✭8mv

Very good finale. I wouldn't mind another season or two...pity that Christian won't be involved, I was just warming to him. Maybe Nora's list of Irish clients will be the starting point of the next season. Hope they find a way of bringing Bibi back into it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43,311 ✭✭✭✭K-9

The list would be a great starting point plus it ended up we didn't find out who the hackers were.

I assumed it was the woman and he corporation that Bibi was working with....the other bidder for the Port.

Could be wrong as there were alot of tangent storylines that weren't overly necessary.

Yeah. that would make sense. I knew the corporation woman would be significant at the end, just not to that extent. That would explain that.

That woman had passed me by. I remember her talking to Christian outside but I’d no clue what they had said or who she was.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 434 ✭✭8mv

Did we find out what had upset Josh so much in the first episode? I don't remember anything specific just that some (personal info?) was leaked or exposed during the hack.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,023 ✭✭✭Princess Calla

Well if you were working in CAB and your personal information was hacked by some criminal lowlife I'd say you'd be pretty spooked too.

He's IT support I think, not an actual guard, so wouldn't be used to dealing with lowlifes in person.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 438 ✭✭The_Dave

CAB are made up of Guards, Revenue, Justice, and Social Protection, so technically he could be from any of them (plus it's tv, so we've to suspend belief at times anyway)

I assumed and from rl experience that he was upset because he was exposed in his job and there may be community repercussions for him as well.

Just watched the last two episodes belatedly together last night after a gap for the RWC. I can't believe they killed off Christian. I never seen that coming. Maybe Wouter Hendrickx was unavailable for a follyer upper, they couldn't get Angeline Ball from the first series for the second either. Who knows. He was my favourite character, but I'd noticed his involvement seemed limited this time. Josh, btw, could be either forensics, or an analyst grade. These are specialist civilian posts in the Garda, usually PhD level qualified Paid at senior civil service level, APO I think.

Shh tell no one but that was the 3rd season, the first season was called Acceptable Risk

I'd forgotten about that one, though I'd watched it. 2017, only one series in that guise,Angelina Ball is there alright, but wasn't the murder victims wife the main focus.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,374 ✭✭✭RoTelly

Angelina Ball was the same character, I think it was set between Dublin and Montreal. RTÉ need their co-funders, I think it still has some Canadian backing.

It won't be the same without Wouter Hendrickx. He filled the screen effortlessly, despite his lessened script in the last series. It won't be in Belgium either.

    Enjoyable stuff, but hokum really.

Bibi's overall plan seemed incredibly implausible and relied on a stupendous amount of coincidences and events happening without any control. Clearly it worked but it wasn't in any way convincingly portrayed.

I'm still none the wiser as to how random Columbian criminals were coerced unwillingly into doing the suicide bombings. All of them would have had opportunities to get away/go to the police as there won't be any bad guys within the vicinity of where the bomb is going to explode. Was it ever convincingly explained.

Sad to see Christian killed, but I think his 'deputy' Vince has enough presence to step into his shoes (if any future series is a Belgian/Irish co-production). He has already had some character growth between the 2 series.

Some strange casting choices. Obviously Angelina Ball dropped for unclear reasons. But also having a Fat Body Double rather than paying Michael Ironside for a scene stood out as shoddy. And a pity that Siobhan Brannigan never featured as she was good in the first series as the mouthy gangsters moll.

Random question? Do Belgium TV viewers see the exact same show we see with identical dialogue and cast time? i.e., we clearly see a predominantly Irish police investigation that merges into a Belgian angle. Do they see more of a Belgian police investigation with some Irish involvement?
