I took the chance and ordered it from fonez as they are the only crowd showing availability

It turned up this morning, brand new and sealed. All is good.

They are still showing in stock, with the ability to collect in store on some of the colours.

Any one know how long the wait is to order a standard iphone 15 from vodafone?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,639 ✭✭✭deafroadrunner

cant belive they actually have stock. ive cancelled my order with apple and picking up tomorrow now instead of waiting another 3 weeks.

    cheers for that

Got a scratch on the screen right where I usually interact with it. Very annoying and I can see this is a common occurance with these new devices.

I think I've had one single scratch on all my phones going back over the years so this could become a real problem with this one.

It defeats the purpose by covering it up but big apple phones need decent cases

they’re a nice object to look at but I have to cover mine

am a decorator and dropped my 14 pro max twice already,

no scratches but cracked camera lense and bloody did the same with the camera cover I put on it a week later 🙄

lense easily repaired ( hairdryer and a bit of patience)

but I’ll not buy a phone again with the camera lenses protruding as much,

    good luck with yours

Thats my logic as well. I have this as a "case" and will not be getting a screen protector, If it gets bad in a year or so I will total the screen and get it replaced under apple care.

    Good idea

apple care will work in that situation

I never got AC as I thought it was a rip off tbh

Did anyone try the Finewoven cases? I’m not a fan… I have a mulberry one for the standard pro for €30 on Adverts if anyone wants it.

Got my Spigen Enzo Aramid delivered from Amazon Germany today, absolutely unreal. Very premium.

I have the Taupe one on my 15PM and I'm not a fan, i really think they should have kept the leather.

I bought this 10e jetech tempered glass screen and camera protector. Great value since its a duo pack. Although, camera protector already cracked due to me being me and having keys in the pocket with the phone

Also, with the cases like torras transparent case or similar I'm not sure how the camera can get damaged from the fall since the case has a bump around the camera bump 😅 But coins or keys + phone in the same pocket of your pants...good luck with that lol

  • Registered Users Posts: 150 ✭✭Fwarder

I went the fine woven way as well....and regretted it instantly. Thank god for "no questions asked" return policy from some online retaileres.. Definitely a step back compared to leather

I broke my lenses( same one twice)

    and lense protector

just a bloody awkward person ,

plus as I’m a painter and listen to Spotify/ radio on it all day I’m forever moving it ,

    dripped it numerous times ,

    Torres case helping big tiime,

plus I dropped it onto the ground and a tiled surface a few times,

14 p max big but so far handling it,

there’s a case for e54 in Amazon that I’m looking at

but a bit on the dear side ATM

Ordered mine on Thursday, due for delivery later today

    Nearly time for the 16

  • Registered Users Posts: 158 ✭✭Kevrano

I'm very pleased with my 15. Nice to have 5G and magsafe back (I was on a 13, but lost it and had to use an 11 Pro), but the USB-C port is a game changer: just need to carry a single charger for all my devices now (work and personal)

Is anyone having any issues with the Battery on their iphone 15? I got mine a few days ago and the battery is draining very quickly.

For example: 2 Nights ago I charged to 80% and unplugged at 11PM ( this is the recommended amount for charging optimization) and the next morning at 7am it was 2% (it was only used for 30 mins reading apps after 11pm). Last night I charged to 100% and unplugged at 11pm. I then switched the Low Battery Mode on however this morning the battery was at 20%.

I have done all the recommended things like turning off background app refresh, downloading latest software etc.. and nothing seems to work.

I am very disappointed as just upgraded from iphone 11 that I had for many years with no battery issues.

Any advice what else can I do?

In the battery settings where it’s set to “last 24 hours”, in the activity section it will give you a chart of the usage during the hours you’re looking for information on. Select some of the hours during the night when the phone was not in use. Underneath this you will see a list of apps that used battery for this hour in order of percentage of battery used. This should help you diagnose the source of the drain. It could simply be one app that’s using battery in the background that might need to be force closed or updated or uninstalled and reinstalled. I’ve shared an example of mine below:

I had something similar. Lost 40% overnight one night. Apple advised to do a clean restore as new via iTunes I was on the beta software though so likely a bug as the hardware diagnostics showed all ok. It’s been excellent since barely losing anything o/n

Thanks for the reply - this is the thing that there is nothing showing as using the battery except the odd time the lock screen!!

I am charging again now after charging to 100% earlier this morning :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 36 joleen100

Thanks for the reply - I might try this over the weekend and see does it help.

If you got your phone from Vodafone do you contact Apple online? Sorry never had issues before with any apple products so not sure how to contact Apple with issues.

Have you tried disabling the always on display?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,740 ✭✭✭corks finest

There was an update to sort it afaik

  • Registered Users Posts: 36 joleen100

Thanks all for your help. After restoring again, updating software again it has managed to hold charge over night with only very small drop in charge. Hopefully it stays like that!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,600 ✭✭✭✭murpho999

Iphone 15 does not have an always on display. That's the Pro Only.

Also, can I just say I hate this advice of turning off features that make a phone useful just to save battery. Heard of people turning off all notifications, app refresh, locations services just to preserve battery therefore turning their state of the art smartphone into something as useful as a Nokia from 1998.

Newer phones will easily get you through the day so just charge at night.

This case was clearly a software, restart or restore issue that appears to be resolved no need to dumb down the phone.

Especially now that Apple has finer grain controls on location access. I love the “allow location only when using” means that I can give apps like Uber access to location without giving it away all the time.

Also don’t forget those that also turned off Bluetooth and 4G/5G to eek out an hour or so of battery

Whilst my nostalgia for a 3210 is strong try doing anything useful on it and that nostalgia will quickly dissipate.

I'm planning to buy a new iPhone in US, but I'm afraid about two things.

    1) the new iPhones in US are e-sim only, does Three support e-sim on prepaid plans?

    2) Will 5G work fine in Ireland with american iPhone? I saw a note on apple's website:

"Higher frequency 5G networks are only supported in the United States when using an iPhone purchased in the United States."

Hi, just looking for advice, I’m about to buy the 15 pro from apple online. Is it worth taking out the apple care + or what are people doing for insurance. I want accidental damage as I work outside a lot. Thanks.

Has anyone got the apple silicone case for the 15 pro?

I have one on mine and it seems to not protect the cameras when placed on a surface. The camera lens feels and sounds like they protrude out further than the case

Yes, have the Clay one and it definitely does protect the cameras. The ridge on the case definitely protrudes further than the camera lenses on mine anyways.

Anyone recommend a screen protector for a 15 pro max? Have never used a screen protector before (and have been case less on recent phones also) but first time going to a max so want to have a bit more protection so I have ordered an apple silicone case but the screen protectors were very expensive in the official store so didn't go with one.

I saw a Jtech one mentioned in a previous post but a lot of reviews say its a bit on the small side and I think that would annoy me having the lip so any other recommendations ideally <20 euro.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 456 ✭✭SodiumCooled

After a bit of reading I ended up going for the Torras screen protector. A little more expensive than I was planning at just over 30 euro (for two) but have to say I am very happy with it. Exceptionally easy to fit with the kit and had no issue with bubbles. Coverage while not right to the very edge is probably as much as you can go and allow a bit of wiggle room for a case.

I would also add a comment on cases - I see a lot of debate on cases and I have either been caseless or bought cheap cases. I bought the official apple silicone case this time as had the f&f discount and I have to say its way ahead of any case I've had before. It just fits the phone perfectly and feels very premium even compared to say a similar case from Otterbox. So from someone who was always sceptical of paying the price of one before I am sold.

Torras are very good. Have used their screen protectors before and cases. Worth the extra money imo.

So, I’m in the US at the moment (the wife is from there) and her family gifted me a $200 Apple gift card. It can only be redeemed in the US so I’m tempted to get an iPhone 15 over here, as it’s already significantly cheaper than back home. I know it’s eSIM only but I’m on Vodafone anyway so that may not be too big a deal. Would I have any issue with bands? It seems to do 1, 2, 3 and 20 on LTE so that looks fine, but I’ve no idea what we use on 5G.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,792 ✭✭✭Doodah7

Should be no surprise issue with bands. Any that are used in Ireland are covered.

As you say, your main issue is eSim only and you will be tied to Vodafone for the foreseeable future. They are by far the most expensive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,363 ✭✭✭Glaceon

The 13 still has the SIM tray and is $599 here rather than €759 back home. So I’m edging towards that now. As mentioned previously I’m still on an 8 Plus so it’ll still be a big upgrade. My only concern is that it’s already a 2 year old device so will be supported for less time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,808 ✭✭✭rizzee

Very (Littlewoods) Has the 15 starting at €859, 15 Pro starting €1089, and the 15 PM €1329

is the 15 series dual sim

Are they both usual sim cards slots

  • Registered Users Posts: 488 ✭✭Metalpanic

If my memory is correct, one SIM and one eSIM. US models are eSIM only.

To chime in, you can have multiple eSIMSs, plus the single physical SIM, but only 2 active lines at a time. I have both my Irish and UK numbers as eSIMs on my iPhone 15

Has anyone bought an iPhone from Amazon Germany? I am looking at the iPhone 15 Pro Max the price is good compared to Apple or Amazon UK. Just wondering if anyone had bought something similar from Amazon Germany and if it worked out OK. I have bought previous bits and pieces from Amazon Germany but never an iPhone. Thanks for any advice.
