Don't the regulations state that if you are buying marked gas oil that the seller has to take your details. So my guess is the pump won't dispense unless you provide those details first.

Washed diesel f--ks up your engine. They use acid to knock out the dye. Problem is the same acid will eat through your pistons in no time. Happened to me, I used to travel through Limerick city and used a garage with the Cheapest fuel in the City for a few months. Fried the engine on the Van, I never knew at the time but it came out after when the Garage was caught. Turned out to be RA run

It's a requirement of the customs, a good few would sign made up names. But your reg is written down and customs can go through the cctv at anytime. You can't buy green in this shop without signing for it.

I don't doubt you but I bet nobody is directly filling green into cars, vans,jeeps or trucks at that garage.

They are filling direct, they risk getting caught. Cars, jeeps and tractors fill out of it. Then you've lads filling drums. An odd time customs will set up up the road from the shop. If you're not signjng for it, it'll only be a matter of time before it will have to be done. A woman filled her car with green at the pump. Takeing a gamble just. Plenty of activity most of the year with dipping, but plenty of WhatsApp groups showing check points, so easy to avoid them.

You can run central heating on 85% diesel, 15% kerosene. Needs a different nozzle and adjustment.

Pay what excise, the increased rate for road diesel. I can't see that working. Even if you had an old car with no engine or wheels that didn't move for 20 years but green in the tank you could be fined

Fined for what? You are only breaking the law if you are using diesel for which the correct excise duty has not been paid for, not the color of the diesel.

I think you are missing the point I made. Once the excise duty has been paid then it is legal. The Color of the fuel is only an indicator to customs and revenue that the fuel is Agri diesel hence has the lower excise duty paid. If you have paid the Excise then you are not breaking any law by having green diesel in your vehicle.

No, you're wrong...The law simply states it's an offence to have green diesel in the tank of a road going vehicle.

This would be regardless of what duty was paid on it. How were they going to determine if duty was paid on it anyway? Anyone could pay duty on one tank of green, and burn countless tanks of un paid green, using the same receipt.

All that the revenue link says is that you can be fined by revenue for the illegal use of MGO. If you have paid the excise to revenue then revenue cannot back track and fine you for using it, that's the whole point in what I am saying. They will kick and scream rather than let you pay the Excise difference but at the end of the day they cannot refuse.

But in fairness youd want every other bit of you to be squeaky clean, cause if you take them on and win on your thinking they are fairly sure to do an audit and catch you on other stuff.

That's why revenue always go after the low hanging fruit. Do you think that someone who can take them on isn't going to run rings around them in an audit. Have you ever heard of any of those big knobs cursing up and down the Shannon in there Big boats caught by revenue? Plenty Farmers caught though.

Again there is no such Law, when you get fined for using "Green" diesel it's on the ground of Tax evasion.

So there is no law that I can quote to the clerk to get them to call their supervisor.

We will have to take your word on that. But you could just show them the receipt from the Oil Co. and just pay the excise on that. Save them having to come out and measure the tank, which I doubt they could do to start with.
