3 races... is it not just Interlagos and Vegas left?

This could actually be an exciting race. Could be a track that doesn't suit Red Bull which leaves the door open a bit for Mercedes and McLaren to potentially take a win, or maybe even Ferrari. Hard to look past Verstappen though all things considered. Unfortunately it's another sprint weekend so we should have a good idea of who has good race pace before the race starts.

Checo needs a big performance to solidify second in the championship. He's arguably the driver under the most pressure for the remaining races. Personally I feel he's leaving it too little too late unless he comes away with 2/3 wins, but if he loses second place to Hamilton it'll be devastating for him.

I fully expect a Hamilton masterclass this weekend, the man just comes alive at Interlagos

I wouldn't call myself a Hamilton fan at all - but I really hope that he beats Perez to 2nd in the championship.

I do like this track, one of the older ones left on the track that still has its character.

Hard to look past RB/Max though...again

Watching a bit of the drivers press conference - Stroll has the look of a man who’s lost interest on the sport. He had a bigger smile talking about golf.

Interlagos to stay on calendar until 2030.

Ferrari quickest over all, hopefully a sign of things to come over the weekend. Good chance of RedBull struggling this weekend with the slow corners

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,528 ✭✭✭NinjaTruncs

Red Bull only ran hard tyres, atl east to set times, while the Ferrari's used softs to set their fastest time.

Slow corners is the weakest part of that RedBull so hopefully they are off the pace like last year

Not against Friday evening live F1 but I can’t stand the sprint weekends. Also 👍 on the thread title being logical and calling this race what we know it actually is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,395 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

Hard to read anything so far, RB used just hards in FP1 so I get the feeling they are confident of their setup already.

    Good evening.

Piastri not driven this track before.

60% chance of rain for the session.

Russell has been making a lot of silly mistakes lately

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,698 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

So Lewis in P8 needs to use a new set as they aren’t confident of getting into Q2. Love it in general as it means the track is ramping up.

Big contrast for Alpha Tauri from Mexico

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,669 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Some drivers not staying to the left when they come out if there pit lane, that will surely be a reprimand or something similar.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,395 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

Love the shorter tracks, the gaps are so much more compressed so it really ups the stakes.

Well if the drivers won’t even try to do what they’ve been asked by the stewards then yes they should expect to be called on it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,379 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Stroll lucky to sneak into q3. I thought one of the Haas drivers would have snuck through

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,669 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

    Lando for pole?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,669 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Looks like they’ll get a single lap before the rain comes.

    Scary looking they are! 😳

Some lap from Max! Sergio’s lap wrecked because of Piastri’s off.

    AM 3rd and 4th

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,282 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

    That's qualifying over anyway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,379 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Checo was last out, and got caught by the yellow flag?

Fair play to Aston Martin, 3rd and 4th...

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,669 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Max on pole, Leclerc and Stroll in 3rd

Christ almighty Stroll would you ever smile.

Sooner he's gone the better tbh. Would prefer to see anyone else getting the drive

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,282 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

What a shame that was, Verstappens time was definitely beatable

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,669 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

The track must’ve been worse than in Q2, everyone was going slower.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,669 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

McLaren made a balls of that. Piastri was last out of the pits…

Well that got interesting. Another 5 minutes would have seen a lot of change but those clouds were savage, it got so dark so quick and the wind caused a few problems too.

Reckon Checko was caught out with the yellow, a pity he isnt further up.

    McClaren the real losers.

  • Based on Strolls body language today and the past few weeks, im 100% convinced he has been told that these last 3 races will be the last of his F1 career with Aston Martin.

Maybe a Williams driver for 2024 or gone completely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,395 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

Mental how fast the weather changed like that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,528 ✭✭✭NinjaTruncs

Russell has a 2 place grid penalty for impeding in the pits. He didn't stay left enough to allow other cars pass as he tried to make a gap.

2 place grid penalty for Russell
