    Has the Villa bubble burst?

Will Haaland be out for a few weeks

After an atrocious GW there's a lot to think about over the next few days.

Brought in Watkins last week and he blanks against Luton and Forrest. Bring Nunez back in today and the lad could have had two hatricks. Who knows if he’ll start next week after that display

A few flags on my team make it a good idea to use my free transfer to get a better chance of fielding 11 next week so considering Gusto to Lascelles or Branthwaite but will wait for more information on injuries.

2FT and definitely moving on Ederson but Haaland, Burn and Cash all flagged

Might look at Saka -> Bruno for 1 GW.

Saka is not doing it this season, from play. 2 goals from play, with a couple of penalties thrown in but he is giving away penalties to team mates too. While penalties are a bonus source of goals, they can't be relied on. According to FPL's own xG metric, he has racked up a combined 0.02 from his last 3 starts. He played over 250 mins of those 3 games too.

Now Burnley are terrible, and open, and could well play into Arsenal's hands who need a win again.

Bruno is playing Luton, who had a big result at home, but tend to concede goals away from home. Bruno has those penalties too, but again can't be relied on. He is probably Man Utd's chief goal threat at the minute, apart from Maguire/McTominay.

Really don’t think that’s worth a transfer. Both are playing poor teams at home, I think the chances of each going off are much the same to be honest so therefore not worth a transfer.

I like Maguire from United. Only 4.2 and he looks nailed on to play the next few at least. I think anyone looking for a defender this week could do a lot worse.

Yeah it's definitely a risky one. And tbh, I have a bit of a benching headache as it is, and with 2 FTs I am nearly trying to create up-side moves rather than smart transfers.

Because I don't have Haaland Nunez might sink now, I need to hit the upside transfer to cover Haaland again.

Having a mare of a season after to top 3k finishes. One of my main strategies is never waste a transfer on a defender, so in the last 2 weeks I have brought in Gabriel and Tsimiskas and it has cost me 18 points, I’m annoyed but still another one is don’t let it affect your mood so onwards and upwards, and no more defensive transfers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,191 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Dan Burn out for a few months with spine injury.

Gonna be burning a transfer on a defender this week so (terrible pun)!

Maddison is probably out also. Think I'll double up on Arsenal midfield and get Marrinelli to go along with Saka. Fixtures breed form hopefully

Liking my current squad but have 2 free transfers, would like to use 1...would be great to move on Turner but I have nothing in the bank.

I'd rather if Haaland had been injured, easier to just move him on for a few weeks.

Isn’t there a 3.9m keeper for Brentford playing atm, dunno how long their no1 is out for though

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,685 ✭✭✭sheroman01

Alvarez to Nketiah seems an obvious transfer. Just wonder will I regret getting rid of Alvarez. Probably worth the risk.

I’ll definitely be getting rid of Burn. Guehi in most likely.

Might go sideways, JWP to Kudos or Doku,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,553 ✭✭✭RocketRaccoon

Is anyone else considering Cole Palmer? Ridiculously cheap and is giving returns.

Have 2 FTs and 0.7m itb.

    Any recommendations?

Am thinking Kabore/Nakamba to Maguire/McTominay(Longstaff) and playing BB.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,055 ✭✭✭fplfan12345

I wouldn’t do that as I’d want to keep my BB for a DGW later.

Depending on rank I’d just play it safe and move Tsimikas to Branthwaite and carry the other FT.

The latter is a nailed on 4.0 for the season. The former is a gamble that may just be heartache. It’s definitely the ‘long game’ move.

Or rather than burn the FT I’d move Nakamba to Sarr.

I definitely wouldn’t be buying any Man U players until they do turn it around.

It was said that Flekken had only suffered a dead leg so I assume he'll be back in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,314 ✭✭✭munster87

I'm waiting for their fixtures to improve but yeah he's getting returns. Penalties help

Have Palmer the last 3 weeks,no complaints, pulled the trigger early JWP to Doku and Udogie to Mitchell, triple CP defense,in Roy I trust 😃, could be a genius move or an unmitigated disaster

hojlund could be a decent punt - home to Luton and he’s got two tonight already

G & A so far tonight for Saka.

Shelving that idea of selling him!

Twisted ankle, it would need the leg to be amputated before Arteta would rest him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,015 ✭✭✭Mr Crispy

Thought he said Saka just got a kick and should be okay?

Awful mess up by Tsimikas there now to hand a goal away to Toulouse. Will he start the weekend after that?

Klopp is not reactionary, so if Tsimikas doesn't start at the weekend I'd imagine it's more to do with tactics and gameplan rather than Tsimikas cocking up tonight.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,656 ✭✭✭Western Pomise

    Tsimikas very poor tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,191 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

It's weird cos Tsimikas fecked up for the goal tonight and taken off at HT.

But last Sunday, him not starting was somewhat of a poor move as Liverpool didn't have any width on the left without him, against a deep back 5. It's not that Liverpool didn't create, they created an awful lot (I think 3.5 xg) and just didn't finish. But the running analysis was still that Liverpool lacked width until Tsimikas came on, and iirc either one of the goal or the Nunez miss comes from Tsimikas making a play on the left hand side, I can't remember which one exactly at the moment.

We know how Brentford will set up in this game, back 5 etc. But the difference between Forest & Brentford is that Brentford will be springing really quickly on the counter. Forest didn't. They will set up to play Mbuemo et all in on goal in fast breaks, and they are good at them.

So, whatever about starting, do you trust Tsimikas to keep a CS over 3 other defenders? Maybe I'm bring pessimistic after a loss but....

I think Jota & Trossard might be good picks this week, but I'm unsure of how to fit them in.

    Maybe Mitoma -> Trossard?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,459 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

I love the Trossard pick but it's very short term

Who are people bringing in for Maddison?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,719 ✭✭✭dr.kenneth noisewater

Burn/Maddison/Ederson to Lascelles/Son/Johnstone for -4 is what I'm thinking for this GW. Have already done Burn to Lascelles so could also do Maddison to Saka and avoid the hit if theres positive injury news

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,015 ✭✭✭Mr Crispy

Anyone else tempted to sell Son on the back of the Maddison news? I don't see Spurs being as potent without him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,450 ✭✭✭Shedite27

Have 2 FT and split between two ideas

The safe.... Udogie out for Saliba (Udogie with the ban and Saliba with 4 nice fixtures coming up

The wildcard.... Alvarez/fodder out, Archer(fodder) in and then upgrade my 5th midfielder to one of Kudus, Doku or Gordon. Doku has the form, but bit sideways from Alvarez, Gordon has a tougher run of fixtures, Kudus has the fixtures but WH out of form.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86 ✭✭Rossie11

Yes. Can’t believe he has risen in price overnight. Tough games coming. Tempted to ditch him for Saka

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,077 ✭✭✭shmeee

I wouldn't ditch for Saka just yet, didn't really get any answers on Saka's fitness today in the press conference. Arteta said they will review any players with doubts over the next 24 hours so it's a bit of a risk going to him I think as of now, if I owed him I'd start him but I wouldn't buy him in.

Arteta is an awful hoor for the press conference lies. Remember the stuff with Saka and the England squad before the Man City game too.

Anyways, here is Saka with the squad by the looks of things. This could be another ploy from Arteta again, but like it is Burnley at home, not like it's Man City or a big game again so I'm not sure why there is a need to be so secretive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,077 ✭✭✭shmeee

He didn't train with the squad I believe but was there as the vid shows so could have done his own work. But as you said, it's a easy home game so not exactly a need to be silent over various players fitness. At home game at 3pm tomorrow won't tell much in terms of leaks etc, an away trip might help if he travels or not and so on. I'd start if owned him but wouldn't buy, and especially not buy for a hit.

  • Registered Users Posts: 299 ✭✭mindhorn

1FT and 0.2 ITB. Going to get rid of Richarlison but better to hold off now and go with 3-4-3 (Eze and Oilse should be good for Edouard's returns)?

  • Registered Users Posts: 305 ✭✭The Guru 123

Don’t even consider selling ederson to Johnstone for a hit if you can afford without. Statistically you’re selling a goalie more likely for a clean sheet to a goalie less likely

  • Registered Users Posts: 305 ✭✭The Guru 123

Meant to reply to comment above one I replied to!

    Anyone else benching Tsimikas?

I'm starting Trippier, Cash & Gabriel.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,191 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*
