Pamela Joyce leaving Today FM

So today was Pamela’s last show on the station. At the end of her show she said that she had some news, She went on to say she was missing the west and was returning to her beloved Galway.

I wonder was her sudden deaprture in the middle of a show related to the decision. Might have a sick relative in the family and wants to he closer to home. Best of luck to her. Her show content wasn't my cup of tea but she seemed a good skin from her social media.

Be sad to see Pamela go.

I was wholly sceptical when she was given the slot but thought the show and her as a presenter were fantastic.

Given it has been flagged she’s leaving it’d be interesting to see where she ends up.

Galway Bay FM or IRadio would be the only local options. SSD to see she's going, I don't mind her show at all, the least offensive/annoying of the mid morning, lunch and afternoon slots.

Would things be different had Today FM bosses let her do her show from a Galway studio? Or do they not believe in regionally-made programming, unlike their nearest challengers who do shows from Cork, Limerick and Cahir*?

*I'd imagine the pre-recorded output of the show in question is done in Cahir, but, judging from their Instagram posts, it looks like the live content comes from Donnybrook HQ.

I'm not on the auld "X" or the 'gram - so I checked both to see if I could se any mention of this - and saw a HAND DELIVERED letter that Pam posted about last year.

Where do people get off - writing AND delivering this - to ANYONE?

Have to say - I (male, 45) LOVED Pam - and especially her alter ego "Cardi P" with Noni and her laid-back interviews...

She seemed so genuine - and easy to listen to. Unlike MANY well known female presenters.

Don’t know the circumstances but in any sector I’ve worked in a contract can expire on any day of the week and notice periods don’t always conclude neatly on a Friday.

I wouldn’t read to much into it…
