Is that Tipp or who, please?

    Sorry not following thread closely..

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,309 ✭✭✭evolvingtipperary101

Yes, that's the Tipp league games alright. I hear one of the golden boys is gone into the senior panel.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,798 ✭✭✭✭Goldengirl

    Tipp minor or senior?

Not that it matters because he'll be going anyway!

Just want to plan around it..

I feel so ignorant sorry.. its just one of the dates rings alarm bells here as something else on 🙈

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,309 ✭✭✭evolvingtipperary101

    Tipp senior.

There's always something else on! Be grand says you

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,798 ✭✭✭✭Goldengirl

    Thanks sorry asking so late.

Jeez too true major family birthday but we'll work it out..

I've had babies when Tipp have been in the All Ireland and we managed 😊

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,309 ✭✭✭evolvingtipperary101

Oh, the birthday will have to come first.

Yeah, Parnell. You wouldn't catch the Dublin footballers in there. O'Donoghue might want to change the venue...

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,798 ✭✭✭✭Goldengirl

Yeah would say they'll be a bit pished alright.

Should be Croker but crowd wouldn't be prob big enough in Feb so they are trying it on.

    Thanks again.

I'm hearing at least three Kiladangan lads called up to the Tipp panel.

This whole Kiladangan v Cahill stuff is fascinating. Id be disappointed in Kiladangan highlighting their gripe. That didn't need to go national. They could voice their concerns around Tipperary or directly to Cahill. But and this is obvious now..Cahill doesn't keep people onside. You need a certain decorum as a manager ...like 'Hello this is Liam Cahill, you aren't on the squad this year because of ABC and if you work on this then I ll keep an eye on you'....something like that.

We ll see how good Kiladangan are on Sunday. Clonlara have fantastic ball players but give up alot of scores..Two similar type teams. Could be a great game. Whomever wins is getting well beat in the final and thats fairly certain

Is there gripe though? It was just comments from 1 player when emotions were running high just after a county final. Could have been used as motivation but almost artificial stuff. Looks a 50/50 game on Sunday would be slightly favouring Kiladangan and Ballygunner but neither are sure things.

Another loss for a tipp club in the Munster championship. The amount of senior clubs in Tipperary needs to be reduced. A bit like the cork championship clubs look good in their own championship but usually flatter deceive against stronger clubs.

There's only 16 senior teams, how many do you want?

Cork winners have won one game in Munster in the last 14 years since they last won it. And usually with a tame exit. Kiladangan lost by a last second point down to 13 men. Discipline lost that match today. I don't think Tipp teams have been anywhere near as bad as Cork have been.

Didn't see the game , but talking to someone at it . He said one sending was totally brainless, the other was a total mystery. It happened in front of him and people didn't even see a free let alone a sending off . Johnny Murphy was assisting so that probably has something to do with it. There's not too many senior teams in tipp and the whole championship is set up for teams like Kiladangan with a match every second weekend. Great effort by them all the same

Looking from the outside I think its an overreaction, if Tipp teams were not competitive getting hammered year after year I'd agree but think its only Kilruane last year v Ballygunner who really suffered badly.

Really dangerous and stupid thing to do from Dan O’Meara - scandalous. And just no need. No justification for that whatsoever. He didn’t get hit or anything. Just can’t understand a stroke like that. A loose stroke like Hayes can happen in the heat of battle and you’re always walking a fine line but Jesus what was O’Meara thinking. Clearly, he wasn’t thinking.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

Yes it was stupid and dangerous close to doing damage to the crown jewels. Full compliment Kiladangan win that game imo so he really let himself and his team down.

Number of teams is not an is an issue.

For many it will be their only chance to display their talents on National TV.

Teach that discipline is more important than skill.

Club championship in Tipp is actually very good, very competitive 16 teams where anyone can beat anyone. Very rarely has a team defended their title and we've had multiple different winners over the last 10 years.

A super club doesn't always do much or anything for an inter county side or a championship. Plenty of evidence of that in Waterford and Galway. It can even cause friction at inter county level - the last eight years of Ballyhale's success created a standard of tactics and play that Cody couldn't replicate and that caused rumblings in Ballyhale (that's still going on - given TJ's statement circa the club semi with Cody's crowd - and going back to the Fennelly biz and the Henry handshake). Something similar has happened with Ballygunner and Waterford (not a happy dressing room - and some ballygunner players just opted out - happier with Ballygunner.) Galway have had amazing clubs going back a long ways that coincided with Galway being unable to get over the line. There some particularly septic club rivalries in the galway championship that did nothing for the Galway dressing room. Ditto Wateford. Likewise in Tipp, when Toome were eating everyone alive in the county, their standards were often higher than Tipp's, leading to some very frustrated Toome players.

It was a good year for the club championship in Tipp. Very entertaining championship. But that will be a sore one for Kiladangan. Did the hard work in the first half - came through in a good position after Clonlara had a very strong wind but discipline left them down. Were legless in injury time after playing so long with 13. Only themselves to blame.

Clonlara's biggest weaknesses, from what I've seen, are on the line and in the goals - which is arguably Ballygunner's greatest assets. I think it will be a step too far for Clonlara. Kiladangan would be no match for Ballygunner either. But Ballygunner could underestimate Clonlara and get caught. It happens.

Great insight from Michael 'Babs' Keating, recounting the story of his grand-uncle, Tom Ryan, who played for the Tipperary footballers on Bloody Sunday and lived to tell the tale:

Two of Tipp's best - big losses to the hurling and football teams.
