The ref couldn't keep up with play. If he's the ref must capable of doing the Senior County Final what the hell are the rest of them doing?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

Fairly high standard so far the Dublin county football final. Some great scores from both sides with Colm Basquel sending over a few beauties.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

Very open first half. Good quality football. Kilmacud keep there noses in front. The two Basquels have their shooting boots with them. Michael Dara showing the mileage, though. Booked for a silly late tackle on Rory O Carroll and just before the ht whistle dispossesed out around midfield and looked like he was running in quicksand trying to catch Shane Walsh who set up what should have been a crucial goal but was saved for a 45.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

Some goal by Shane Walsh. Kilmacud turning the screw now. All one way traffic since the resumption. Mannion and Walsh doing their thing. The All Ireland champions showing their class.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

Masterclass from Kilmacud in second half. Totally dominant. Ballyboden have fallen away badly. It willtake a very good team to dethrone Kilmacud winning back-to-back All Ireland's.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,080 ✭✭✭blowitupref

Ballyboden won't be happy with their 2nd half display, after Kilmacud needed a shootout to get past Raheny they would have expected to at least give them a competitive 60 minute performance

Next up for Kilcoo, everyone's favourite second team:

    Round One

    Sunday 5th November

Derrygonnelly (Fermanagh) V Kilcoo (Down) at Brewster Park (3.45pm).

Sars getting absolutely humiliated here in the hurling. Way out of their depth.

Woeful performance from the Cork champions. No fight at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,480 ✭✭✭robbiezero

Im surprised at how far off the pace they are. Its a poor indictment of Cork club hurling that they are the best of it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 676 ✭✭✭supernova5

that was the tamest second half of club hurling I've seen in a long time, total non event

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,728 ✭✭✭Seadin

By looking at Sars performance today, you would never think they were Cork champions. This is another reason why the seniors are not winning. Club hurling gone way too soft in the county.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

It was the tamest half of hurling since the first half of the match.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,065 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Is it time to do away with the club provincials and just do an open draw

  • Scotstown (Monaghan) knock out Kilcoo (Down) in Ulster by a point. Were 3 down with 5 mins left. Delighted to see Kilcoo gone after their carry on about the referee before their county final.

  • Registered Users Posts: 588 ✭✭✭Treble double

Fair play to Scotstown, the only way to deal with the likes of Kilcoo is to press the life out of them and give them plenty of physicality within the rules. I haven't enjoyed a moment as much in a long time as the shoulder that flattened your man with the tights from Kilcoo, the likes of him buzzing around handpassing here and there is awful to watch, the likes of him need to be hit legally hard and often.

Leinster Senior Hurling Championship very open this year. O Loughlin Gaels didn't exactly light up the world today against Mount Leinster Rangers. Na Fianna vs Naas in the semi final is some golden opportunity for both clubs while the Gaels face Kilcormac Killoughey in the other semi

Roanmore must be the first Waterford football club to win in the Munster Intermediate Championship ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,995 ✭✭✭billyhead

You'd have to fancy Na Fianna and Gaels in the final.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,709 ✭✭✭shrewdness

Some stones shown by Scotstown to come from a few points down in a low scoring game, to beat Kilcoo at the death. Beggan was incredibly influential in the 2nd half including scoring the winner, and that point from K Hughes to level it up was a huge score under that sort of pressure.

I doubt too many will be mourning for Kilcoo tbh

Seems to be something a little off about that club. Their players have a nasty streak, had the absolute displeasure of sitting next to their supporters on one occasion and then as you say there's their administrative antics. Good riddance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,124 ✭✭✭windy shepard henderson

i have met a few at inter county level , complete **** as most down supporters are fine

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,272 ✭✭✭threeball

Ya I'd find Down fine in general but this shower are a bit Deliverance.

Tight game here in Thurles. Clonlara were wasteful first half quite a few wides. Kiladangan man deserved red for stupid dig of the hurley although referee took quite a while to brandish the card.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

Kiladangan down to 13 after Hayes sees the line for a loose pull. Seemed harsh to me. Clonlara should go on and win now.

Deserved red, he can have little to argue about.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,471 ✭✭✭funkey_monkey

Can't belive they are 1ahead and down 2 players.

Thought ref done well with first red. Took his time and got it spot on.

Second night be harsh but was a wild pull.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

Super well worked score from Kiladangan to take the lead. Lots of short handpassing and keeping possession. Just gone two ahead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,893 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

Clonlara been lobbing 50/50s on top of their forwards even though they have a 2 man advantage on the pitch.

I suppose they're lucky that this year their bottle-job came AFTER winning County instead of during the County Championship.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,893 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

Ah jaysis donation returned in the end by Kiladangan. Enjoyable game

    Was that the winner?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,314 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Moriarty came on, got 2 balls, scored 2 points.

Clonlara were blessed in the end in fairness.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,471 ✭✭✭funkey_monkey

Jesus they were lucky in the end. That intercepted pass and good strike by 13.

Kiladangan threw that away with stupid reds.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

Bit of a sickener for Kiladangan. Two men down and managed to wrestle back the lead only for three injury time points from Clonlara. Whatever about losing one man to indiscipline losing two is going to come back to haunt you. Good second half. Well done to the Clare champions although i don't see them troubling the winners from second semi final.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,314 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Either way, most will view the second semi as the real final., as the winner will be favourites for the final.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,152 ✭✭✭Billy Ocean

Conlon was immense, 1st red was a no brainer taught 2nd was a bit harsh probably more towards a yellow.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

Second red was definately harsh but Seymour was fortunate soon after after connecting with the Clare mans helmet. That could easily have been a third red card. Discipline let the Tipp men down today. Red cards usually punish you in the end.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,735 ✭✭✭dirtyden

Both reds deserved. Clonlara would have serious questions of their sideline if they lost that. Moving Conlon into the full forward line (and out of the game) and allowing a team with 13 men to dominate the middle of the field with their 2 loose men marking space in their own full back line. They changed it up just in time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,952 ✭✭✭kksaints

Teams always do that when they have a man advantage, most of the time they'd be better pushing forward and using the free man in the forwards or the midfield.

Fancy Na Piarsaigh to get over the line by 2 or 3 points. Should be a close game.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

Scrappy enough opening 7 minutes. Good goal chance for Dessie Hutchinson but he made it an easier save for Dowling hitting it to his strong side. Poor wide from a free by Na Piarsaigh also.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,735 ✭✭✭dirtyden

Agreed but with 2 free men keeping both in their full back line when they were being out played in the middle third and also removing their main ball winner from that area almost lost them a game they should have won comfortably.

  • Registered Users Posts: 975 ✭✭✭conor05

Ballygunnar very good at the dark arts, holding hurls, blocking off runners etc.

This ref is on their side anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,272 ✭✭✭threeball

Na Piarsiagh no angels either. Mike Casey should have been yellow carded 3 times already.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,584 ✭✭✭JeffKenna

Strange there was no yellow cards given there at the end of the half?

Why was Shane Dowling in the referees ear at the end of the half?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 219 ✭✭Greengrass53

Yeah pearses are completely blameless 🙄

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,637 ✭✭✭joebloggs32

Probably as the ref chickened out on pulling the Bsllygunner player for that hit just before the HT whistle

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,272 ✭✭✭threeball

Dowling is some dose, as a pundit and a player.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,272 ✭✭✭threeball

For the forecast game of the week this has been dreadful stuff. Bad wides, bad handling, bad decisions, there's not much redeeming this game so far. It's scrappy as hell.
