Doing it so easy. Head was always the big wicket. WTC final and again now. He enjoys the big occasion against India. South Africa got him early and were able to squeez game afterwards.

India coming up short again. They've been fantastic all tournament but it was always hanging over them, their record in ICC events.

Always thought Australia could win this but the ease at which they've done it today is surprising. India have been so dominant and then to fall so short today is shocking.

They are like every team, reliant on 2 or 3 players, same heads doing it all the time, I'd argue that Rohit Sharma is not producing what his talent should be producing, he's certainly a class player, but has given away his start so many times, he scored one ton in this competition at home Quinten De Kock got 5, that Sky fella however you pronounce him is a slogger with no brain, and Pandya was missed, some nice cricketers in India, the chap that scored all the runs for Northants is a class player, he got injured near the end of the English season, can't think of his name, Gill is a classical player, but maybe too much, Pant nearly killed himself in a car accident, might come back, decent bat, hard to set fields for, Rahul is too slow and Kohli pads his stats a lot, is class, but hugely overrated, every cricket discussion with an India fan is shut down if you say anything against Tendulkar or Kohli, and Pakistan have never produced one decent cricketer according to them, so I'm happy with that result, as it's a kick in the balls for that lot, and also that harbajan Singh idiot and his stupid comments about Ireland the time they player each other in the world cup, that's where arrogance gets you sometimes, good luck harbajan the racist, Andrew Symonds should have flattened him

I think the same as you, nothing against either of them, but the 2 best sides in the tournament for sure, India were way short with the bat, Sharma was out at 76/2 from 9.4. After that they scored 164 in 40.2 with 5 boundaries, that's ridiculous

Pitch and conditions defiantly helped Australia. Rohit said he would have batted first anyway but I don't always believe captains that say that. Used pitch for a world cup final, what was all about? ICC are supposed to be over the pitches but we saw the stuff about the semifinal pitch. If that was ordered, they deserve what they got.

A lot of ex cricketers in the media heaping praise on Australia for such a dominant final display… but also laying into India, not only for how badly they played in the final.. but the behaviour of their players at the end, not staying on the field for the Australian presentation. Poor by India, the world showpiece of limited overs cricket, in India. I know you are disappointed and at a particular low ebb but sporting etiquette, just suck it up for 2 minutes, clap and get out of there….

A 6 wicket defeat for them with 7 overs left…. Wow. Slaughtered.

Of their 11 the only scores of note were 2 half centuries.

7 of their batsmen scored 10 or less….

A really pathetic display from them at home, in a World Cup final in front of their own fans. Maybe the pressure was too much..?

whats probably worse is they were firm favourites with bookies and pundits alike, so to lose and in such a comprehensive manner, just must be a real kick in the guts. I read one article by I forget who but ‘India Invincibles’ was the headline. India Invisibles might be more appropriate.

General thoughts on World Cup now that it's all said and done?

I felt that the group stage was much too bloated and a bit like the IPL, way too dragged out. Should have been a couple of games a day rather than spreading it out over 6 weeks. The group stage went on for way too long. 9 group games was overkill. I welcome the format change for the next World Cup.

The tournament in general was ok. Afghanistan were brilliant and South Africa's re-emergence back to the top of the game was great to see albeit a familiar ending. The Netherlands were fairly competitive and didn't look too out of place. Maxwell's knock was just an all-timer never to be forgotten and probably the moment of the World Cup. Rachin Ravindra was the find of the tournament for me and also apart from the obvious players, shout outs to Madushanka (Sri Lanka), Omarzai (Afghanistan) and Daryl Mitchell (New Zealand), who is probably the most underrated player in cricket.

The lack of jeopardy in general for the first few weeks didn't do the tournament any good really as it sort of drifted around in the background. There was also a lot of big victories for sides. India's dominance was a bit boring (outside the final of course) and ultimately the two finalists were two of the big three which was a tad predictable. Bangladesh qualified comfortably for this World Cup but continue to be embarrassing in ICC events. The Shakib-Matthews incident summed up their tournament.

The One Day format is certainly at the back of the queue in importance now as we see much less bilateral series' between sides as T20 continues to dominate. There is still a place for it in that it is a nice cross between Test and T20 cricket. You can score quickly but it can also have that slow build drama that Test Cricket has. The next two tournaments are already decided but I fear that ODI cricket may be pushed out once they are completed as franchise cricket will likely begin to take more control of the cricket calendar.

Group stage format needed Pakistan and England to be competitive. Three runaway teams and then NZ getting through with four defeats isn't a great look. Netherlands beating South Africa was a great upset but was never going to matter. Afghanistan gave it a good go, that Bangladesh game and the Maxwell drop will hurt them for a long time.

End of the road for a lot of teams. Last world cup for a lot of great players. India, Australia, England will look very different in four years time.
