Speed van set up

Yes they do need to set up the equipment. If your speedometer was just 5km over, you are almost certainly ok.

Ya they have to set up. Align correctly with road etc so it takes them a while.

You also have to be right up close before they actually get you so you should in most cases be able to avoid getting caught.

In some standard speed can spots they now have white markings to speed up set up. If they park inside the white corner markings they can set up quicker. While setting up they put on orange flashing lights so if lights are not on they are probably set up or at least back inside van.

Only way to be sure is wait a few weeks and check for post at registered address of the vehicle.
