Ajax wireless alarm system

Ajax had announced a new line of wired systems to sync in with Hub 2 etc, called Fibra.

I was looking / waiting to see hoe it would work for the keypad as I have a wire for a keypad. Probably just wire that to a panic alarm instead.

Callous to talk about it with what's going on but hopefully they can keep going.

Oh yeah the sensors didn't come with screws, what type/size of screws do you generally use for the HKC Slim. Will a 16mm be ok for the sensor without going too far into the PVC frame and causing air tightness problems? I couldn't find a good fitting screw for the magnet though since it needs to be much longer.

Do you generally drill a pilot hole before screwing on the sensor/magnet?

I was thinking of just double sided taping the sensors and magnets onto the frames, any downfall in doing this?

Anywhere to see recommended setup structure. With 4 external doors and several large windows (odd shaped house) I am have questions like should I have protectors on every door, or do people load up on motion detectors?

house has an old system wired- with pretty much every window upstairs and downstairs covered. I’m thinking to ignore all that - but maybe I should be leveraging it?

I got an email from Ajax last week saying that there's a new multi transmitter coming out and it can connect to any wired detector with dry contacts.

They have added 2EOL and 3EOL capabilities.

It's on pre order at the moment but it's in mass production so it shouldn't be too long before it's available.

Id be surprised if there is a hidden wire if nothing else is wired (and even if it was wired).

Should be easy enough keep the bell box tight to soffit and run power cable into house that way?

Hi! Purchased a property which came with an Ajax system. I contacted Home Secure and they aren't willing to give me access to it (replace account) or transfer ownership even though the previous owners would have paid for the managed service for several years. Did I end up with an alarm system that I can either replace or be forced to pay Home Secure a monthly fee? I simply want to run this via the Ajax app without any managed monitoring on it.

Thanks for your reply. Tried the Ajax route, they need an invoice from the original owners which is not available to us. Ajax actually just replied and recommended to replace the hub with a new one and then reconnect the sensors.

I might try the release fee suggestion but the sales guy made it very clear that they don't hand over admin access. I do understand that it goes against their business model.

That was my understanding as well. I might try the release fee route or alternatively purchase a new hub which might be the lesser evil.

Were/are you happy with the tech itself and the app?

never had an app issue with HomeSecure. But assumed they would release details after contract up?

So - you can try instead to look at the Multitransmitter and standard non Ajax contact sensors etc.

Works well for me.

Haven't seen Fibra anywhere.

Yeah, it would be a case of buying the items all yourself.

Not ideal as you can't be sure how to wire a sensor properly.

Do any companies in Ireland actually supply and fit Ajax systems? I want a mix of wired and wireless e.g. siren, windows, doors and motion detector are already wired. I want to add pir cameras, outdoor cameras and a DVR to the system, the cameras also being wireless.

Everyone I spoke to is HKC and the one that did Ajax is wireless only.

It's a new build for an elderly couple so nothing is installed so far.

Thanks, yes full wireless isn't of interest to me. I'm looking for wired for the main core of the alarm system e.g. sensors, siren etc. as I work abroad for weeks at a time and I have had issues with wireless systems in the past that were mostly an easy fix but not so for an elderly person who can't use a smartphone.

Could anyone recommend the best Ajax set-up in my scenario? Cost isn't much of a factor and I will just buy the kit and pay a local PSA registered installer.

I'd say most people who want alarms have them or have enough details to get them so don't need to frequent this thread.

There's a big announcement from Ajax later this week, so that might drive traffic about their new products (NVRs are rumoured).

Anyone know any Ajax installers in the Kildare area that will do a mix of wired and wireless? House is prewired so would like to use the wiring that is there and wireless for anything else.

Some big announcements from Ajax today including cameras and NVRs. Might not be the best spec ever but integrates with the alarm system and isn't Chinese government supported (if that's a worry for you).

I have a self installed system, but if you have full access to the app once your contract is up with them then its easy to add new sensors etc

Thats a difference in cost of either 312 or 1140(or more if they up prices halfway through) - cheers!
