€850 Build - Are these parts good choices for the budget?

    Hi,

    I have wanted to do a build for a while and think I might do so soon due to some good sale on at the minute. I have done some research and come up with the below build, sourcing most from amazon and the graphics card from the states. I would appreciate if anyone had some advice or knowledge to input, I think it looks good value myself but just want to be certain all parts make sense together or if there are better/essential changes to be made for similar money. I found choosing the motherboard difficult due to so much choice and nuance and am not entirely confident in that pick or the SSD, cooler and RAM.

    sorry to hijack the thread but I'm after something similar myself and pricing has already changed a bit.

    Just a couple of questions on this linked build.

    1, is there a clear winner between this i5 and mobo vs a 5600x + mobo as only a tenner in the difference?

    2, I understand that the rx6600 is a big step down from the 4060 build above but there is more than €100 price difference. Its hard to say what games this will be used for as it's a first pc but Call of duty/fortnite are probably a good bet for starters and it will all be 1080p. Is there a middle of the road card like rx6650 or something I should be looking at?

    3, Any other parts I am overlooking that should be considered?

    4, Do you still just download a bootable Windows iso and buy a key online

    Unfortunately budget is being eaten up by all things RGB (case, ram and cooler) so the gpu is taking the hit. But these are non negotiable and we're much better discounted last week.

    Lastly, I've tried to spec the same build from various eu amazon's but the delivery charge outweighs the import tax fom co.uk.

    Don't buy a liquid cooler (AIO) for such a low-power chip. Drop cooler down to basic & get cheaper RGB RAM. This leaves budget for RX 7600 which is a generation newer & around 30% faster. Also found a 750W Bronze PSU for the same price.

    Are these builds hard to do? Son has asked for a gaming pc (Xmas) as his friends all have them. On his list is a veno scorp but they only ship to UK so I figure I can get parts and build one with him for the experience of it. Is the OS a seperate thing, have to buy that on top is it?

    Budget will be the same as the posters here above - 600 - 800 area. Not looking for the best here, just enough to play teenager games

    Well if your worried about building a PC you can buy a pre built from place like GGmachines.

    If you do decide to do a build look at YouTube there plenty of channels that walk you through plus they tell you were to windows 11 for less than what Microsoft will charge you.

    @irishproduce Don't buy a full priced windows key. Microsoft have a media creation tool that will create an installation media, usually a USB stick (16GB or more last time I did it) which you can use to install windows on your PC.

    All this is free with no key necessary. There will just be a small watermark saying "windows unactivated". If you want to get rid of that just pick up a windows key for a few quid (15ish) off adverts. Will save you a good few quid that you can put towards better parts or a few beers as ye work away
